Did Jailers Contribute to Sean Levert's Death?

Sean LevertTMZ has learned that singer Sean Levert was physically restrained by jail guards right before he died.

Staff at the Cuyahoga County Jail tell us Levert was "out of control" and "hallucinating," forcing them to place him in a restraining chair, because he was a danger to himself. The jail's warden Kevin McDonough says Levert was cooperative and "went willingly" when jail staff bound his wrists and shackled his feet.

The Cuyahoga County Coroner tells us Levert's body showed no signs of physical trauma, nor do they suspect foul play. They are currently awaiting toxicology results -- those will take four to six weeks to come back.

Sean reportedly suffered from high blood pressure. In a statement issued yesterday, the Levert family says "There is no song that can capture the loss that we have in our hearts." The family is reportedly asking the FBI to investigate what happened.

62. Unfortunately, this is another tragic loss for the gifted musical family that is so beloved and popular among lovers of R&B. Other news sources are reporting that while Sean had or has two children with his current wife ,he was,"jailed on March 24, after being found guilty of owing two women and their three children nearly $90,000 in support." A first cousin, Michael Gibson, who in November, 2006 found Gerald Levert dead, has commented that Sean's reportedly "bizarre behavior" may have been caused by withdrawal from an anxiety medication he had been taking. However it is ironic that just as quick as Gibson makes that comment he undercuts it's probability by further commenting that, ""He's never before had any kind of crazy outburst," Stay tuned it will be interesting to know the results of the toxicology tests.

64. Southerngyrl - You are one racist girl! "Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson don't represent us" oh please. Then maybe you can tell me why Sharpton and Jackson are the first ones to scream foul play and pull the race card out of thin air? I gurantee you that if the guards were white, they (Jackson & Sharpton) will be involved and screaming RACE! One more thing, who are you to tell Bob to go to a black neighborhood and scream "I hate blacks"? Was that suppose to scare him or intimidate him? You need to get off your racist throne and start acting like a "Southern Girl" instead of a classless human being! You are showing your IGNORANCE!!!!!!!!!

65. Here's a thought! He would still be here today if he hadn't put himself in that situation! It's real simple....obey the laws, stay out of trouble, and you will probably NEVER find yourself in jail, or at the police station! Don't make life harder than it has to be. Get up, go to WORK, stay out of trouble and the police will leave you alone. It's really elementary!

67. Well... once again Race takes over another topic of a blog that "supposedly" has nothing to do with race. I'm surprised Obama didn't find his way into this blog.... (lol)

The underlying variable is MANY, MANY, MANY PEOPLE are pissed that a black man is BOLDLY running for President and it's trickling down in every other aspect, because DEEP DOWN... there are a lot of negative feelings toward blacks PERIOD and the MINUTE a black says something they dont like THEY are racists... too damned funny.

The true colors of most are shown through their comments... and sadly a lot of people are closet racists because that's how they were raised, what they feel and believe. But not STAND up for their punk ass beliefs. Atleast the KKK's keep it real and will not be found two-faced...

68. I have actually had the misfortune of witnessing guards restrain an inmate and it was about 6 of them with brutal force in a choke hold against one man and put him in a chair much like you would put someone that was about to be executed in. You cannot go to the bathroom or move for hours and no, no one looked at him for hours, he was in a behavioral control unit, jail term for psych unit. They also would not have fed him until he was out of the chair, however long it took. In jail they do not give you any medication unless you are under court order by a psychiatrist or judge. So yes, it appears Sean may have died in a violent manner. How do I know you ask? Because I was there for "observation" much like Britney Spears only not in Cedars Sini.

69. At what point was it determined that Sean died from drugs? That may actually be the case, but none of us knows that for sure. More importantly none of us knows anything about this man outside of his music and clearly most of you don't even know about that. So please to explain how you know he died from drugs.

72. Let's suppose the family said this happen because he is black , I recalled Geralidine Farario making that same statement about Obama saying he's where he is because he's african american , the same as saying black . Iam willing to bet you the same people who has a problem with the claim of blackness in this case , Did'nt have a problem with what Geralidine Farario said .

73. 71. The underlying variable is MANY, MANY, MANY PEOPLE are pissed that a black man is BOLDLY running for President.

PUHLEASE. Blacks represent too small a percentage of the population to, on their own, elect Obama. Obama WILL win, and he will win because young WHITE folks are going to vote for him in droves. Get over yourself and your victim mentality.

And to the poster who was jailed "for observation" (unlikely from a legal standpoint) who says medication is not given in jails except by court order, as an RN working in a jail, I must disagree. That's so entirely wrong I hardly know where to start. You tell us what your meds are and what pharmacy prescribed them, and we verify with the pharmacy then dispense your meds. Period. Do you really think we'd get a court order every time someone needed their BP meds, heart meds, yeast infection meds, etc. Grow up! And by the way, take your Lithium!

74. He was "hallucinating" and "out of control" and yet he "went willingly" when they decided to restrain him? Well, which one was it because you cant be enough of a danger to need restraint, and also be cooperative at the same time. If a person is calm enough to be restrained easily then they don't need restraints. Period. Somebody is going to be in a world of hurt over this one.

75. I tink that it is irrelevant as to how and why he died, nor whether or not it was his own fault or not, the fact remains that a father who has already lost one son now has to bury another son!!! And all of this speculation and gossip will NOT ease his grief or pain in any way!!!!
