Did Jailers Contribute to Sean Levert's Death?

Sean LevertTMZ has learned that singer Sean Levert was physically restrained by jail guards right before he died.

Staff at the Cuyahoga County Jail tell us Levert was "out of control" and "hallucinating," forcing them to place him in a restraining chair, because he was a danger to himself. The jail's warden Kevin McDonough says Levert was cooperative and "went willingly" when jail staff bound his wrists and shackled his feet.

The Cuyahoga County Coroner tells us Levert's body showed no signs of physical trauma, nor do they suspect foul play. They are currently awaiting toxicology results -- those will take four to six weeks to come back.

Sean reportedly suffered from high blood pressure. In a statement issued yesterday, the Levert family says "There is no song that can capture the loss that we have in our hearts." The family is reportedly asking the FBI to investigate what happened.

91. It is in there best interest to investigate the possibility of fowl play. american, is aware most successful african american families contiue to be under attack by individuals and organziations that for some reason feel we are undeserving. whatever they feel his behavior was exhibiting if the workers understood he had hypertension, halluncinations and bizarre behavior is a symptom of hypertension. he should have been immediately taken to the doctor and examined. who knows how long he had been without his medication. the only thing that should have been done was to have him examined by a doctor not put in a restraint chair. does anybody know how those restraints can affect a person internal organs or his blood pressure?

92. I find it really interesting that the comments that are being made here are becoming personal. How did this become about you people? Very selfish. Who really cares what you think??? Shame on those who think that he deserved death. Total ignorance.
To say that he's dead because he didn't pay his child support is like blaming a hit & run victim because they were "J-Walking." There is an actual reason for Sean's unfortunate death but clearly the reports won't state CHILD SUPPORT as the cause of death. I won't speculate because like most of you, I have know idea. What I do know is that a person has passed and a family grieving. When most of us pass imagine how our families are going to feel about the negative things said about us. Stop perpetuating and wait your turns. No one deserves the suffering from the loss of a child, especially two. No young child should know what it feels like to be told that their parent is dead.

MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE YOUNG MINDS THAT POST IGNORANT MESSAGES!!!

MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE LEVERT FAMILY. SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.

97. My condolences for the levert family. I had the opportunity to meet sean at a talent showcase for the tom joyner morning show. He congradulated me on my performance. I was incarcerated and have seen individuals place in restraints. Its is not a pretty sight. I hope that the truth will reveal itself.

98. As with everyone else I send my heart felt condolences to the Levert family and friends. The prison system in the county didn't know of Sean's "habits" nor of the health condition. Had they known, it would have been avoided. One may think that Sean not paying support was an irresponsible act but, not even asking him about his medical condition or performing a competent medical exam is far worse. A person lost their life. Without going into issues of parental rights or any thing like that, support for one's children can also be given through one's presence and involvement.
How often does this happen? How many men (since it relates to support) loose their lives in prisons over this? The state is as negligent in taking Sean's life as he was in not paying support. Now let's pause to think how good a life the children a're goooing to have without him AND his money. I believee the family, children included, have an argument for neglect against the state's family court and prison system. A medical examination is all that was needed.
