Two Springfield businessmen and a foundation backed by Hollywood superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have established a fund to support basic student needs at area schools.

Former ServiceWorld Computer Center owner Doug Pitt, Morris Oil Co. owner Jim D. Morris and the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, along with an anonymous donor, have created the Care To Learn Fund.

The founders will give $3 for every $1 contributed, and funds will support Springfield schools in meeting students’ basic needs, such as hunger, health and hygiene. Foundation for Springfield Public Schools will manage the fund.

Every district school will be eligible to receive funds, based on free and reduced lunch percentages, according to a news release. School principals, counselors and nurses will identify students in need and make requests.

Doug Pitt – brother to Brad Pitt, a Springfield native – will detail the initiative at a 1:30 p.m. news conference Wednesday at Campbell Elementary School, according to the release.

Angelina Jolie is a beautiful women and Brad Pitt is a handsome man. However, after I seeing a couple of interviews that Pitt did it was apparent that he isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. The problem is, he thinks he is and that makes him unattractive.

But, looking at the how the other members of tinsel town does spend their money, at least they are trying to do some good.
