"American Idol" Contestant Hospitalized, Released

David Cook"A.I" contestant David Cook was rushed to the hospital tonight after experiencing heart palpitations and high blood pressure, and released a few hours later. His condition is still not resolved.

As we first reported, Cook was not feeling well during the day and his condition worsened after his performance. Cook was examined by show medics who determined his blood pressure was "far too high." Cook was urged to leave for the hospital during the show, but he wanted to wait it out.

After the show, Cook was driven to the hospital (not by ambulance) and treated by a private doctor to keep everything on the down low. The doctor gave Cook medication to bring his blood pressure down and he will monitored again Wednesday.

What happend to your face?An "A.I." exec tells us Cook has been completely stressed out because his brother, who has been sick with cancer, had a setback within the last week. Earlier in the season, just before a performance, David collapsed and said he could not go on -- though he pulled it together at the last minute.

31. I know from first hand experience that as your loved one goes through this terrible disease and its treatment, you also suffer health problems, in particular high blood pressure. My husband passed away and my blood pressure returned to normal. I felt so guilty. God bless you David and stay well.

32. I skip around TMZ about once a day, so I guess that puts me in the ambulance chaser, train wreck brigade, but JC what's with the endless crazy postings about 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.? It's unbelievable that people sit at a keyboard for the express purpose of laying claim to typing 1st! in a box--and now they're working their way up the line to 15! Like wow, should they get medals or some kind of reward for being major butt pains? Why don't you all go out and buy yourself a computer game or something and give the rest of us a break.

And David Cook? A serious talent.Best on the show by miles. I hope he's okay and that his brother's health now take a turn for the better.

33. This guy is clearly stressed..but after I had issues with my son's health ie: heart and blood pressure, he was tested for thyroid problems and sure enough..one medi centre doctor figured out what 2 heart specialists could not with a simple blood test.

36. Do you "writers" at TMZ do meth or something? Coke? ---I think three items in a row about this same story is just a tad excessive.

39. If he's smart, he's probably having second thoughts about appearing on a lame, dumbass show like American Idol!

40. If he doesn't get the blood pressure under control, his brother might be the winner of Idol because he won't be around. High blood pressure can kill quicker than cancer. I wish both he and his brother well.

44. How can so many people be so insensitive to what David is dealing with right now?
It makes me sick to read most of these comments.
What is wrong with you people? Are you all sociopaths? Get some help so you can lead a useful life.

45. To Jodie76: If you are still reading the comments, my sister in law battled stage 4 uterine cancer and just had her 5 year check up in Dec. and was declared cancer free. Yes, she has some damage from chemo and radiation, but she is still pretty perky. Good luck to you.
