"American Idol" Contestant Hospitalized, Released

David Cook"A.I" contestant David Cook was rushed to the hospital tonight after experiencing heart palpitations and high blood pressure, and released a few hours later. His condition is still not resolved.

As we first reported, Cook was not feeling well during the day and his condition worsened after his performance. Cook was examined by show medics who determined his blood pressure was "far too high." Cook was urged to leave for the hospital during the show, but he wanted to wait it out.

After the show, Cook was driven to the hospital (not by ambulance) and treated by a private doctor to keep everything on the down low. The doctor gave Cook medication to bring his blood pressure down and he will monitored again Wednesday.

What happend to your face?An "A.I." exec tells us Cook has been completely stressed out because his brother, who has been sick with cancer, had a setback within the last week. Earlier in the season, just before a performance, David collapsed and said he could not go on -- though he pulled it together at the last minute.

76. High blood pressure is a dangerous thing....you shouldn't be making fun of this situation. Glad he was monitored and getting things taken care of....sorry to hear about his brother....a lot to deal with to say the least. Feel better, David....you are a great talent !

78. He was under a great deal of stress. It is likely that he was suffering from anxiety attack. symptoms of rapid heart rate and Blood pressure can skyrocket with this disorder. Unless he was actually in fibrilation, it is likely not cardiac related. Should have prescribed anti-anxiety drug if initial tox screen ruled out drugs.

79. My heart goes out to you David. I lost two brothers to that dreadful disease and I know how you are feeling. Just know that there are those who watch American Idol who are pulling for you in more ways than one. You have a wonderful talent that should be shared with the world, And I know that your brother would want you to continue and win...if not for you...for him.
God Bless You and your family and may He keep you all in His Loving Arms.

80. By far, David is the most talented person on the show. Having watched AI for the past 4 seasons, I would be comfortable in asserting that he is the most talented person over the past four seasons that i have been viewing. The rest of the competitors, in my opinion, are nearly devoid of any real, contemporary, lasting talent. Seemingly, more than one half of them a "plants" (people who have 'inside connections' and are being cast upon us episode after episode for inside political and demographic reasons.

I wish David well - I'm sorry to hear of his brother's condition.

82. This young man is incredibly talented and will certainly have a wonderful career. I am so very sorry to hear of his brother's illness. I have a 6-year-old grandson battling brain cancer and it is enormously difficult for the family. I believe David's stress level must be hugely affected by the news of his brother's set back. Add this to an already demanding routine at American Idol, and the result is predictable. Hopefully, they can get his blood pressure in control and hopefully his brother will do better. Otherwise, he is in for a long-tough road. My prayers are with David, his brother and his family.

David Cook did his own arrangement last night? You don't understand. Changing the arrangement of a song in a minor way that fails to completely separate an original artist from his/her original song is not a demonstration of creativity and originality. David Cook did not do that with "Little Sparrow" last night, he did not completely separate Dolly Parton from that song. But now here is a soulful lady who covered that song with an arrangement that does completely separate Dolly Parton from her "Little Sparrow" song, here is a demonstration of creativity and originality, here is Bettye LaVette's cover version of Dolly Parton's "Little Sparrow" in a creative arrangement that makes it LaVette's own:
