OC Get A Life

missyd, since the majority of rational and educated Americans have reviewed the entire Wright and Michelle Obama texts and contexts as well as their lives of devotion to community service to all Americans, and whole cloth rejected the anti-American smears propogated by the likes of you and other Clinton supporters - just check the polls.

Perhaps, you could explain why a decorate Marine like Wright should have his patriotism questioned but not President Clinton, a draft dodger, who while in office sent many of our soldiers to death and dismemberment, and while out of office lobbied for the Arab and Chinese nations. Or Senator Clinton, who sat on the Board of Walmart until 1992, the most anti-union, anti-family, anti-workers rights, and anti-medical benefits corporation in America and helped guide and put into place their policies? And, yesterday the Chariman/CEO of WalMart encouraged other American corporations to join him in lobbying the candidates to make certain their healthcare plans do not force an increase to employers costs, and guess who a large contributer is to the Clinton campaign - Walmart! Senator Obama has already stated in his healthcare plan that employers MUST pay the cost of health coverage costs atleast in part otherwise it is unrealitic to expect the system to work.

And, finally for the not always having pride in America statement, have you spoken to any one of the millions of taxpayers who have or are losing their homes and not getting any help from the US only to see the US use their tax dollars to bail out the very banks that gave themselves billions in bonuses? What about any one of the crippled, dismembered, disfigure, homeless, or dead soldiers that were sent to based on lies and knowingly false evidence Iraq created by President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and Secretary of Defence Rumsfeld (all active military service dodgers)?Or the millions of still homeless and destitute victims of Hurricane Katrina waiting for the relief promised to them by both parties in the US? Well, I could go on, but you get my point, having an intellect, an opion, and a coherent command of the english language should not and must not immediately disqualify you from participating in American democracy - afterall is that not what the free speech doctrine was established for by the framers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights - and millions have died defending?

Traitors during wartime are executed. She should have been sent to the gallows.

I urge every American voter to read Barack Obama's book "Dreams From My Father". The guy is totally obsessed by negative stereotypes of white people, which explains why he was so comfortable all those years with Pastor Wright, until he was smoked out recently - they share the same paranoia.

Jane , Hillary and Bill to save his draft dodging Butt, were all part of the anti-war movement.

The difference is that Jane actually went to Hanoi and broadcast to the troops! Tokyo Rose, (Rose Toguri) went to prison for the same things that made Jane an Icon to the 60's left. The key difference was that Jane was a White Woman with power and influence, while Rose was a nobody who got caught up in the war when she was visiting Japan as a teenager.

The people who are pleased by this endorsement already hate America and already were on board supporting that "dumbo ears" demagogue! The people against the endorcement will blindly support Yobama anyway. The endorsement means nothing!

Just a few comments in no particular order:
Jane Fonda was a traitor just for going to North Vietnam and giving aid and comfort to the enemy although she did not give info to the Viet Cong which got POWs tortured and killed.

If you base your vote on which celebrities support which candidates, you are an idiot. You should base your vote on the policies of the candidate and whether you believe they will do what they say.

Clinton avoided service in Vietnam but so did Dubya. He never completed his service in the National Guard.

We should never have gone to Vietnam in the first place but the treatment of Vietnam vets was shameful.

The people who should be punished for the current economic crisis are the sonsabitches that conned people into taking out sub-prime mortgages and then reselling the mortgages in such a way that they brought down the economy here and possibly in the whole world.

The current war in Iraq is based on a tissue of lies. Going into Afghanistan to try and get the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 was reasonable but going into Iraq is not. It is horrible that so many young Americans have been killed over a lie designed to give Bush a boost in the polls.

I won't vote against Obama because of Jane anymore than I would vote against McCain because of Heidi but I'd think better of both of them if they repudiated these two supporters.

Freethinker: I think I would gone with the electric chair, it's cleaner. Then again the gallows is cheaper (a good hemp rope doesn't cost much and any strong tree branch will do.) Hmm, toss-up.

Isn't this getting a little old? In fact, at the time of Jane Fonda's visit to Vietnam, in the seventies, the criticism was relatively muted. Fonda went on to win a second academy award for best actress a few years later and was widely liked and admired. She also became a fitness advocate and used virtually all of the profits from her fitness books and tapes to help groups fighting for average, working people.

It wasn't until the mid-eighties and early nineties that the ultra right-wing started this vicious "hate Fonda" campaign, obsessed with going back in time and stoking the fires of conflict from the Vietnam tragedy. A lot of Republicans, especially, saw the political gain in this, finding a good scapegoat in antiwar activists, 15 years after the war ended. This was useful to the right-wing, since they could no longer openly go after their traditional objects of hatred (blacks and Jews) and now appeared to have a new one that could yield good results on election day.

The deep hatred and vitriol of the ultra conservatives towards Jane Fonda is understandable. In Fonda, they hit all of their targets in one person: female, feminist, liberal, Hollywood, antiwar, etc.

The object for so much of the extremist right-wing, throughout history, has been to create objects of hatred and to gain, politically, by making people hate those groups. And it's important to have individuals that represent those groups and to then zero in on those people with the most vicious and nasty attacks imaginable---even if they're fabricated or greatly exaggerated.

Jane Fonda has been unfairly subject to the most vile attacks any one person should have to endure. I'm sick of the right-wing using her to advance their politica agenda. It's time that people who disagree with these attacks begin to denounce them for the slanderous, deceitful lies that they are.

It will hurt him among Independent voters who remember what a traitor she was in the '60s. Anytime a person of controversy endorses you, it is always more harmful than helpful.

Keep the like minded endorsements coming Obama. If one doesn't know the philosphy of the candidate, look at their friends.
Fonda deserves the wrath she has recieved as far as I'm concerned. Waiting to see what McLame says about her, but of course he didn't see her on the news when staying at the Hanoi Hilton.
