92. Stephen Rivers, Jane Fonda is a good actress, there is no arguing with that but I would never choose a candidate based on their celebrity endorsements. I suppose the majority of older white women may respect. In my personal experience, women like me may appreciate her as an actress but not as a political arbiter although I have to admit that my sister disagrees with me on this point. All of this aside, none of it changes the fact that she committed treason. Maybe she was young, foolish and naive at the time but that has never been an acceptable legal defense. Many people ignore this fact now but once a traitor always a traitor. You cannot reverse that action.

94. it was not jane's antics with the aa guns, or her opinions and support of the enemy that define her as a traitor.
her real crime came when american pows were paraded before her. these men just didn't believe that she could betray fellow americans and probably worked undercover for the u.s. As they shook her hand, each passed a small slip of paper with their ssan or sn. after shaking hands, to their shock and misfortune, jane handed the slips of paper to the camp commandant.
one can just imagine the hell and grief these prisoners faced. beatings with multiple broken bones, torture, food and water deprivation. some of these americans did not survive to come home probably due to the special attention they received from jane's pals, the communists of North VietNam. This is the ultimate betrayal that is never made public.

And contrary to your assertion, the term "liberal", "conservative", and "independent" has only been intellectually bastardized in the American lexicon, and you do a disservice, sir/madame, to the many democrats, republicsns, and indpendents that have served this nation with distinction in uniform, public service, and the private sector since the inception of this great nation, by implying, wholly and completely incorrectly that somehow being "conservative" (by which I believe you mean being like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, John Hagee, Rod Parsley, and George W. Bush (the liar)), is the only measure that makes one fit for not only the highest public office in America, but for participation in the electoral process or even discourse in the aforementioned process.

It is time, for America and Americans, to reject the intellectually and morally bankrupt definitions forced upon our media and public by the likes of McCarthy, Nixon, Carville, Rove, Clinton, Bush, and the rest of the extremist elements on either side of any political or other argument - and simply say - enought - it is time to use one's own values, judgements, and intellect to choose the best people to lead this nation out of the military, foreign and domestic policy, financial, and medicare as well as social security disaster that we are now facing in 2008.

No more hate and divisive nonsense - clear policy debates and solutions - rebuild the American empire and its global reputation 2008.

101. Regarding Jane Fonda, some stories have been made up that amount to total lies by the rightwing loonie fringe. These folks claim that her trip cost the lives of some POWs, that she was responsible for lengthening the war, and that her trip was mentioned as valuable to North Vietnamese in the writings of Ho Chi Minh.
Research has been done and the POWs whose death she supposedly was causing were found alive and well. (See 'Urban Legends' with reference to Jane Fonda).
She went to Hanoi in July of 1962. But troop withdrawals had already started in January of 1962 and were completed by March of 1963. Thus, the claim of her extending the war is absurd.
Ho Chi Minh died in 1969. He must have been psychic to foresee her visit three years later.
If anyone is truly interested in the facts I would suggest to google up Col. Robert Heinl. Its kinds important to keep the timing straight and the facts, by all means.
