Alec Baldwin and Daddy's Little Girl

Alec Baldwin turned half-a-century old yesterday and celebrated with his favorite (and only) daughter, Ireland.

His relationship with his cute-as-a-button 12-year-old daughter had been strained, but she looked happy at LAX -- not an easy feat after a six hour flight.

4. Glad to see that. I still can't believe Kim leaked that phone message. Who would do that to your child to get to your ex?

6. Poor child. I'd hate to have a stupid foul-mouthed nasty mean fathead like that for a father.

9. People are not 'all bad' or 'all good' as some previous posters imply. Baldwin is doing the best he knows how under tense circumstances, and has probably run smack into the learning curve a few times, as has Basinger. Parents screw up from time to time, and kids screw up more, but somehow most of us make it and end up loving the heck out of each other when all is said and done. Forgiveness is the most powerful healer, and with empathy and the realization that no one is perfect, we begin to love people with all of their foibles. Gaaack. Pretty koombaya there. Need more coffee.

10. Good for her. And y was their relationship 'strained?' Because of that phone call? I'm sure that was just a bad family moment, LIKE THE ONES WE ALL HAVE, that was unfortunately made public and blown out of proportion. He wanted to be with his daughter, which is more that we can say for so many fathers out there. He chose the wrong way to convey it, but we've all said something to our children (maybe not the name-calling) or other relatives in the heat of the moment, esp under stress.

12. Cute as a button, eh? Does that mean she'll get another 2 or 3 "free" years before you start calling her a bitch?

14. That kid gets more gorgeous every day. They may hate each others guts, but their genes work really well together. I'm glad to see Alec is improving his relationship with her. I bet that phone call being made public was one of the best things that ever happened for their relationship.
