Click to listen!
Jay Leno was on KMXB radio in Las Vegas yesterday -- and explained the uproar caused by his controversial request for Ryan Phillippe to show his "gayest face" on the "Tonight Show" as a pitfall of being a "comedian."

What a joke!

16. What a PC world we live in. TMZ, YOUR FRIEND PEREZ HILTON USES THE WORDS "GAY FACE" ALL OF THE TIME. HE ACCUSES PEOPLE OF HAVING A "GAY FACE." BUT IS IT CONSIDERED FINE TO SAY IT SINCE HE IS GAY? TMZ REMAINS SILENT WHEN IT COMES TO PEREZ BUT THEN RAILS AGAINST JAY.

IT IS SO DUMB THAT JAY HAD TO APOLOGIZE FOR SUCH AN INNOCENT COMMENT.

NOTE TO TMZ---YOU ARE NOT HELPING THE GAY CAUSE. IF YOU MAKE IT SO THAT HETEROSEXUALS CAN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT GAY PEOPLE IT WILL WIDEN THE BARRIER INSTEAD OF CLOSING THE BARRIER. IF THIS WAS MEANT AS A BIGOTED COMMENT THAT WOUD BE DIFFERENT, BUT IT CLEARLY WAS NOT.

19. Yes, a comedian should be funny! And Jay just isn't! Not so much because of this latest incident; but, overall.

21. Jay has been poking fun of gay people on a nightly basis for years on the Tonight Show. It wasn't right then, and it's not right now. I am so glad that someone has finally challenged him on his homophobia. He deserves every second of scrutiny that he has been given and more!!!

25. Jays not funny? Well that's just like, your opinion man....

Don't you guys and gals ever worry that when you report of this stuff and insert opinions you come off sounding like jackasses. Leno's a pro. TMZ is made up off rookies. Why don't you profile your own staff and roast them a little. After all you're a bunch of micro celebrities with your T.V. show.

26. Mr. Leno has a history of saying controversial things in the name of humor. When his audience protests with a group "Whoa," Leno responds: "Oh come on, it's just a joke," as if to excuse it. Some comedians push the boundaries of decency as indicative of their modus operandi, (Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Andrew Dice Clay, Chris Rock, Kathy Griffin), under the guise that this is their job. The real challenge to their craft, however, is being funny without resorting to simple, cheap insults. Mr. Leno's apology on the attached radio interview snippet ("I made a mistake, I GUESS,") is no apology at all, which is supported by his condescending tone following this non-apology, a tone whose subtext might be summed up as, "Get over it." I saw him years ago when he was playing the junior college circuit, when he was genuinely, creatively funny. Once he ascending the Tonight Show throne, however, his sense of humor took the easy, exploitive route.

27. Leno has never been funny.
His frat boy humor is old and tired.

I cannot wait for Conan to take the reigns of The Tonight Show.
