Legendary actor Charlton Heston, who uttered the best line in a movie ever -- "Take your stinking paws off of me you damn dirty ape!!" -- died at his Beverly Hills home last night at the age of 84.
The actor, who as head of the NRA once said you would have to pry a rifle from his "cold, dead hands," died with his wife Lydia at his side. He had been battling Alzheimer's.

8. A truly great man who stoodup for the second amendment. Liberals think that if we act like Cuba and China and take all the guns away we'll be safe. The government already out of control, and if they had our guns then what could we do to protect ourselves. The criminals don't care about gun control that's why there criminals.

12. So saddened to hear of this great icon of a earlier, golden, more classy, decent era in our country passing. He lived 84 years, blessing us with his talents that were captured on film to cheerish forever. His movies were truly entertainment, without the swearing, blood and guts, and pornography classified as Oscar material today. My deepest sympathy to his family, and many fans, especially my Grandmother. Passing is part of life, but it is never easy. I hope his family can find comfort in knowing he will never be forgotten. 15. Its like I lost my dad, I grew up with him, Named my kid Taylor because that was his name in Planet of the Apes. Not to mention he was a republican Yeah baby yeah! He was my favorite. I cant help but cry. Very upsetting, just shows that no one lives for ever, but he will, in all the movies he has made! We will all miss you Charlston.
