Jolie jokes, pleas for kids in conflict areas
Angelina Jolie hit the nation’s capital today to once again use her starpower for the greater good, this time shining a light on Iraq and the lack of education for children of conflict, reports USA TODAY’s Cindy Clark.

The pregnant star strode into the Washington Club in a long, sleeveless, black flowing dress to preside on a panel for a meeting of the Council of Foreign Relations Center for Universal Education and the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, of which she is a co-chair.

“It’s common sense, and yet education is still not enough of a priority in the international community,” says Jolie. Fresh from her February trip to Iraq, a radiant Jolie spoke emotionally of visits to refugee camps and the many children she met. “They are inspiring and strong and I know what they can do with an education.”

Jolie jotted down notes of her own as the other panelists spoke, including one who teased about getting an attentive audience “because I am in the presence of Ms. Jolie, who gets some attention.”

The actress wasn’t shy about piping up to answer questions addressed to the entire panel, and after providing a lengthy answer to one question joked, “That’s all for now. I won’t give my troop withdrawl strategy.”

33. I agree she should get married before having another baby, however, she is a wonderful, loving person who does so much for those less fortunate. I admire her for her selfless acts of love and generosity. She gave several million dollars last year to help people in need, How many folks can or will be willing to do that?? NOT MANY, so don't knock her you may very well be the recipient of her love and giving someday.

35. My problem with Angelina is how she treats her adopted kids like they are more special than her biological child who she's called a "thing" and a "Blob" who she couldn't feel for as much as her adopted children because of what they went through.

What they went through? THEY WERE BABIES! They were taken out of poverty and thrust into the lap of luxury. The one whose going through anything is the biological child she called a blob lacking personality on national television. And this woman is having another child?

And if she's such a humanitarian... what about the children here in America who are desparate for a family? She doesn't get any hats off in my book.

39. Remind me that there are folks out there who are so holier than Angie that it gives them the right to judge her and her doings. Look in your closet, you have skeletons there too - just because we dont see or know them, does not mean you dont have them. Why cannot we all just appreciate the good she is doing and focus on the the good that the world needs.

40. He good for her at least she uses her fame and forture for the good of others that is how I see it. It is impossible to help EVERY ONE so does what her heart tells her to do. She is a transformed individual. I know she was rough once but so was Mary Magdalene. She was transformed as well. People do change and she has changed for the better doing good will. I think Brad is in awe over her, and he was so impressed. There was something missing a hole in his spirit and she filled it up with love and a need to help others. I like Jennifer but she is nothing like Angie she is just another pretty aspiriring actres in hollywood. run of the mill who is more interested in her career..

42. Mayu, It is not uncommon for a woman with a newborn to feel initially more bonded to their other children than the new baby. Mothers wrestle with all sorts of conflicts post partum. I myself struggled with the same after my 2nd child, yet now, 13 years later, he's considered by all to be the one I spoil the most. Throwing stones at someone for a comment they made post partum, and who knows if she was actually even quoted correctly, is unkind. And for all the supposed Christians out there throwing stones, and throwing around the word "bastard" left and right, go read your Bible. Obviously you missed the part about not judging others.

For the married folks out there insisting that Angelina should get married, do you know that if you're married and living in the U.S. statistically more than 50 percent of you will divorce and more than 75 percent of you will cheat on your spouse or be cheated on? Judge that!

44. 41 and 42: I totally agree. She uses her celebrity and her own fortune to try and help others. People magazine repoted that she donates 1/3 of her income. I wish others in hollywood with all that cash would follow suit. Maybe some of them would feel better about themselves and have something better to do with themselves and their money.

45. all the people who post nasty comments on angelina are ENVIOUS SMALL MINDED haters, who dont know her, clearly never will, and im sure arent nearly as pretty, rich, and god darn hot as she is! that's why they cant stand her, and the fact that she donates her money to charities- there was one ignorant person who said they donate because that way they dont pay taxes, you're just exempted from paying taxes ON the donations plus a small %, it isn't "profitable" to donate - which could mean that she actually might be a good person with something other than shiny objects in her head, exasperates them even more... so what if brad dumped jen, they didnt have children, they were both young, it isnt as if she is maimed, ugly and poor... she is a beutiful strong woman who had a 50% chance of getting a divorce, and she did... plus they claim to still be friends... it is amazing that every post about angelina and brad gets so much hating posts, and then we wonder why the rest of the world hates us!
