Venezuela to Simpsons: Get Out, Gringos!

Simpsons out, Baywatch in ~~Chavez~~ Venezuela has yanked "The Simpsons" off the air, claiming it may be inappropriate for children. Aye carumba!

Replacing the Simpson family - "Baywatch Hawaii" - a wholesome show where half naked bodyguards strut their enhanced ta-tas on the beach.

The decision was made to get rid of "The Simpsons" after several viewers complained to Venezuela's National Telecommunications Commission. Elba Guillen, a spokeswoman for Televen TV in Caracas, said showing the animated cartoon series at 11 a.m. could violate national
regulations prohibiting "messages that go against the whole education of boys, girls and adolescents." We're guessing Venezuela doesn't get irony.

19. Can you imagin what they would do if "South Park" was shown down there? THat would open a few eyeballs! I think The Simpsons jumped the shark long ago. Maybe Voice of America could broadcast "Robot Chicken" down there just to stir the pot a little?

24. Splash, that's it exactly! A person would have to be a total idiot to think that just because a show is animated, it's automatically appropriate for children. The Simpsons is, and has always been, a show for adults...if older teenagers can appreciate the humor, that's not for me to comment, but it is written for adults. The mere fact that they had been showing it at 11am proves that they did not have a clue as to the target audience. And to substitute BAYWATCH??? That is asinine...especially using the excuse that it's for protection of the "education of boys, girls and adolescents" . Baywatch would certainly enhance their education, alright. (And excuse me, but can't adolescents be either boys or girls? Sorry...that's just me splitting grammatical hairs.)

27. I love the Simpsons, but I've never WHACKED IT during an episode, although that Marge is a sweet sweet dish. Baywatch leaves me with blistered hands. A local Venezuelan tissue company is likekly behind this.

29. Dat is so stupid. So you would rather your kids see girls breast den watch a dumb cartoon. And can't they just make their own kids not watch it. Thats dumb. They better not say anything when their sons start to stare at their mother's breast lolz. But common sense now. See i couldn't live there. Uhh. Dat is so dumb. And then they said it was rated number one. But hey that's their country. Let em let their children look at breast bouncing up and down while dem girls run. Dat is so dumb!
