Venezuela to Simpsons: Get Out, Gringos!

Simpsons out, Baywatch inChavez Venezuela has yanked "The Simpsons" off the air, claiming it may be inappropriate for children. Aye carumba!

Replacing the Simpson family - "Baywatch Hawaii" - a wholesome show where half naked bodyguards strut their enhanced ta-tas on the beach.

The decision was made to get rid of "The Simpsons" after several viewers complained to Venezuela's National Telecommunications Commission. Elba Guillen, a spokeswoman for Televen TV in Caracas, said showing the animated cartoon series at 11 a.m. could violate national
regulations prohibiting "messages that go against the whole education of boys, girls and adolescents." We're guessing Venezuela doesn't get irony.

32. Dat is so stupid. So you would rather your kids see girls breast den watch a dumb cartoon. And can't they just make their own kids not watch it. Thats dumb. They better not say anything when their sons start to stare at their mother's breast lolz. But common sense now. See i couldn't live there. Uhh. Dat is so dumb. And then they said it was rated number one. But hey that's their country. Let em let their children look at breast bouncing up and down while dem girls run. Dat is so dumb!

35. Chavez is a Dictator and a bigot ...The election was not fair by anyone's standards , chavez forced the results. If someone were truly venezuelan they would know this -- refering to a previous comment.

38. I love The Simpsons but it is not appropriate for 11am tv. It's an adult's show, with adult jokes and humor. It isn't meant for the Sesame Street set. Neither is Baywatch, however the language is probably worse on the Simpsons than on Baywatch, and I don't believe that seeing women's bodies corrupts our children. Heck, daytime soaps have WAY more in the way of upsetting sexual matter (every female lead is raped at some point, people calling eachother bitches, everyone bonking, etc.). Baywatch is pretty tame. Unless you feel seeing a woman in her bathing suit is somehow damaging to children.

41. The Simpsons isn't a show that children should watch. And as for Baywatch, unless children get turned on by women in bathing suits, what's the harm? It's boring as hell, but more wholesome than the Simpsons as far as children are concerned.

42. The Simpsons is a great show. However, I totally agree with their decission. The show isn't appropiate for children and it shouldn't be on at 11am on a terrestrial television channel. They should look for another time to put it on so teenagers and adults can enjoy the show! If Americans think it is appropiate to be seen by their kids that's none of our bussiness. This is our country and we decide what is appropiate and what is not for our kids. Our cultures are different but everyone should be smart enough to understand that everyone has the right to choose what is appropiate for them.

44. Frankly, we are talking about another country. They can put what they want on tv. No one in the world is required to be showing tv shows from any other country. We here in the US think that all the world is the USA and that everyone should be watching what we watch here and even eat the same food like McDonalds, that is not so. When was the last time you saw a tv show from Germany or Russia or Australia even if there were subtitles on US tv?? When was the last time you saw a fast food chain from say, Argentina here in the US?? Wake up people.

45. The Simpsons has been on for what - 18 years - ?? Something like that. And the government of Venezuela is just now figuring out that the show is a litle racy and can be offensive?? Wow. Way to jump on the cutting edge of things. Don't anybody tell Venezuela that the earth is round, or that we've landed a man on the moon. They'll freak.
