Archuleta Saw "Angels" Way Before Idol

David Archuleta made it seem like he just found the song "Angels" for his performance last night -- shame, shame, everybody knows your name -- it's been in his repertoire for years!

Check out a pre-"Idol" David singing (and perfecting) the Robbie Williams song back in 2005. This isn't the first time he's pulled out one of his old standards either -- he did the same thing with "Imagine."

151. I pray some of you haters get some professional help....seriously. I read every single post in this thread. The untruths are mind-boggling. Where to start? His "foreign country" experience consists of one performance in the Hondurus. He was visiting relatives of his mom's who is a native Honduran. He is not professional. He has no contracts. He won Star Search at age 12ish...before the vocal paralysis. It is sad to read all these slams about his breathing and his voice...technically he has a disability he is fighting to overcome and you folks make fun of him? That is like the cop who tipped over the guy in the wheelchair. AS for song selection, his clips on the tube site have MILLIONS of hits....that is proof to me, a rational and intelligent thinking person, that he would NEVER try to play off that this was a new song to him...and that many people think he is worth listening to.....Which is more than I can say about the hate writers here....I don't get the sense I am reading any Pulitzer Prize winners here. As for his shyness being fake.....another lie. In countless interviews his classmates and teachers at his high school ALL describe him as "painfully" shy...the kid we see in class and recognize as the one who sings songs in school events.....Oh, and the dad bashing that TMZ did...I noticed not a single solitary SPECIFIC name for us to contact for verification. Friends of the family describe his dad as strict but not even close to abusive...in fact, they describe the family as close... Well, bash all you want..whether he wins Idol or not the kid is destined for stardom....and knowing how sweet this kid is, despite the incredible nastiness TMZ has hurled at him, he will likely be gracious enough to talk with you later on....only heaven knows why. I've never been to this site before...I don't plan to return. I programmed my tivo to tape TMZ on tv a few week's ago when I heard you were doing Idol reports....I deleted it last night......This is not the kind of stuff I care to fill my head with......Final thought: Lack of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

152. The thing is that there is a lot of pressure on these idols and they have to come up with a new song every week, sometimes with a theme. David A. as always plays it safe and sings something he's done many times before. When he had to do the Beatles--that just wasn't in his bag of old tricks so what happened--NOT A GOOD PERFORMANCE--FORGOT THE WORDS. Did anyone make a big fuss about that? NO. What is so original about him and he never takes risks. HE IS A CHEATER. I just don't get the fascination about him. He looks like he's 10-12 yrs old--certainly doesn't act like he is 17. I am now calling him "lip licking monkey boy." I have to tell you after Imagine, which I thought he did well, I noticed that he really sounds the same all the time and that bores me to death. I now start taping the show ahead before I watch it so THAT IT CAN FAST FORWARD THROUGH HIS SET. He may be the idol this year but he is no POP star that's for sure. He is a ballad boy and not a good enough one at that. He would be best suited to sing Christian Gospel songs. People should not be swayed by his "Gee you think I'm good???" or "I can't believe I'm safe this week." or "Don't you think I'm cuddly?" I don't see how the tweens think he is attractive. There's no accounting for taste. He's not hip--in fact he is old-fashioned for a 17 yr. old. Yes, he is BOGUS and highly over-rated.

153. and there it is again re 150. is being seventeeen a magic number, that age still makes you innocent. Don't get me wrong I think he's pretty talented but there does seem to be a favouritism because he's younger lets say. He does have pitch problems and Simon did say he was nasally. Everyone on there own merits thats what I say. Age has nothing to do with talent, stop using it as an excuse. When you put yourself up for something like this than you have to take the heat that comes with it all, especially if your'e expecting to be famous after the compettition is over, if anything the media pressure gets worse. If you can't take the heat don't go into the kitchen in the first place
FYI no 139 over ratedness is not a word.

155. There is nothing wrong to do a song that he sang before. This is a competition where the audience choose and cast their votes.

If you do not like him, don't vote for him and don't watch the programme. Those that think the American Idols programme owe them a living, you are wrong! There are many others who like the programme and also like David Archuleta. ( As well as other contestants. )

All the contestants got what it takes to be where they are today. So let them be themselves and the winner will be born real soon!

156. Veronica, #153,

I see your blood pressure going up. You over-analyzed David as a bad boy. He is just trying to do his best each week. I do not know why you said he is a cheater. David Cook is a real cheater singing other artists' versions four times in a row without giving them credit except Chris Cornell (he didn't have a choice but to give credit to Chris because it was so unique version). David A is a cheater because he sang songs he has sung before? when he was in middle school? How can you explain Dolly Parton's song, smokey mountain memories? Nobody has reportoir of Dolly Parton songs like that among idol contestants. Even "Angels", he twisted some part to make his own and unique. He tries so hard and is still going to school. That's why Paula said you need sleep. He is who he is. You don't have to over-analyze him. If you don't want to buy his CD, it is OK. He is going to sell 10 millions of CDs minus one (yours).

157. He's over-rated and I wish all of you who have a problem with the fact that people don't like this twit would go to another site. This is not a preschool website, it's TMZ BITCHES!!

158. I happen to think David Archuleta is an awesome and inspiring singer.

I like some of the other singers, but David A. is my favorite; I really hope he has a chance at winning.

159. Just goes to show how fake this little monkey is!! His "humble act" is nauseating and this video proves that Poppa has groomed him for years for his 15 minutes of fame on Idol. The kid has had one recording contract that went nowhere,so why do we adults have to stomach him? I know all the little pre-pubescent girls run up their parent's phone bill voting for him. But there is alot more talent on that show than this kid and when he tries to look sincere as he sings he looks like he just dropped the soap in juvie hall. I guess that's how Poppa Archuletta trained him:" Do good and I'll use K-Y. Screw up and I wont". Bend Over! Archuletta,Carly Smithson and Teen Hormone Queen Kristy Lee Cook have all had recording contracts and went nowhere. Idol is supposed to be an amateur competition. I hope the producers close the loophole that let those 3 in this year.

160. ALL the contestants sing sogs they song before, can' t you report a real story, this is not a story. Shame on you for picking on the youngest of them all.

161. Alright you said it right on the money. #159

Daddy Dearist, Jeff Archuleta. Has been associated with Idol for years now. Whats up with that, little conflick of interest I would think.

Not to mention, David Archuleta gay fling bottom boy with Phillip Dagget, which the paparazzi are looking for right now to try and get the old juice story about him.

Why, all the secrets. People want to know. Yes, David Archuleta owes his fan a explanation. With his fan, he would be NO WHERE, NOTHING>>>with out them!!

He should be thrown out of the MORMON church. Phillip Dagget has David Archuleta song he sings on his myspace page days before they perform it. So, yes, there in contact.

162. Bottom line. He just planly SUCKS a BIG one.
He misses, his gay LOVER, in him.

Posted at 12:02PM on Apr 12th 2008 by Archuleta has to go

163. Robbie Williams sings this song, and as i am a huge fan of Robbie's i just cringe when ever i hear someone else sing this song! The only person that can sing this song the way it should be sung is Robbie Williams and not that creepy litle guy you does not even look old enough to shave!!

I say get him off!!

164. queen bee (#161),
I have seen your stupid story on other websites. It gets old and if you want to make up a story, make a believable one. You may end up going to jail if you keep making up stories like the one who made up a story regarding Clay Aiken. Thanksfully, Clay forgave him and the guy confessed his wrongdoing. He said he did because of jealousy. So, watch out your mouth.

165. Chuck Oconnor (#159),

Do more research on David. He never had a recording contract for CD. They planned to make one right after winning at Star Search. But vocal paralysis prevented him from making a CD. He really overcame obstacles because he just loves to sing. I don't understand why people like you never see the truth. Have you ever seen really humble persons ? As to his dad, they have a normal father son relationship just like my relationship with my dad. Everyone who knows David knows their loving relationship. I don't know why this video is such a big deal. To me, it is a middle school student singing a song at school. Visit rickey.org and watch the American Idol video clip on the interview. He never said he just discovered it.
