Artie Lange to Howard: I Know How to Quit You?

Artie Lange stormed off the "Howard Stern Show" today, causing pangs of anxiety throughout Howard's loyal legions of fans that the bloated comic indeed put a fork in himself and would not be coming back.
Arite quits Stern?

The drama started when Artie and his assistant, Teddy, were heard fighting in the hallway. Howard later brought it up on air, causing Artie to lose his damn mind and at one point lunge at the assistant.

Sources close to the show tell TMZ that both the fight and the situation are definitely real. As for Artie never coming back -- we're not so sure.

124. ...It is clear to me that most of you don't even listen to the show...If you did, you would know that Howard is the best interviewer in the business...He doesn't lob "softball" questions to celebrities on his show...He asks the tough questions, the interesting ones...You can scoff at his brand of humor, but in the end...if you listened...you would note the calculated genius that is the "Stern Show"...For the people who are still loyal fans...You must know all of the suffering Artie has been through. Admittedly, most by his own hand. It has been difficult to listen to over the years, like a train wreck...You want to look away, but you just can't bring yourself to. Artie has added an element of realism, honesty, and "unrehearsed" grittiness that this show has been lacking for awhile. Howard has become more guarded with his personal life. But, Artie has come through with startling admissions of his dysfunction and at his expense. He has been the butt of jokes about his drug use, his personal life, and his weight gain. No matter who you are, no matter how good your sense of humor is...This only drives you deeper into the dark. I just hope Artie cares enough about himself to take a step back and reevaluate where he is headed. It's time for everyone around him to step up and let him know that they care about him, but they can no longer enable his self destructive behaviors. It has been entertaining to hear his stories, to share his ups and downs...But, enough is enough...He clearly needs help and as long as he has no reason to get it, he won't...A show without Artie is far better than a world without him. If this was real, and not just a prank (as it could very well be)...If it's not, this may be everyone's best shot to intervene in what is surely the end of Artie Lange.

126. I think it's horrible that the show makes light of everything, from planes crashing into rivers to people with aids, but when there's a problem within their own, they censor their own show and don't replay it thoughout the day as is their normal action. It just does seem like a bunch of rich people sitting around now making money and doing nothing. I have listened since 97 and since it's been on sattelite it's been going downhill, from them saying sattelite would be commercial free to stern cutting back to 4 days a week instead of 5. And the "sheep" keep on taking it.

127. Artie has sealed his fate, neither Sirius or Howard would ever accept the lialibity associated with bring a violant co-worker back to the work place. Artie demonstrated to millions of listeners his violant ways when he assaulted and threatened to kill a fellow co-worker. Sirius and Howard have an absolute obligation to protect the staff from what we now know is a violant co-worker. Why in the world Howard put up with his antics anyway, I guarantee if it way Benji or Gary not showing for work Howard would be on them like you know what. Remember when Benji was coming in a minute or 2 late and how Howard chewed His butt out!

128. I couldn't agree more with the previous post. What's with all the Stern Show haters!? He rules, the show is better than EVER and Artie will sadly be missed. He is WAY better than Jackie the Jokeman ever was, please! All of you losers still listening to free fm need to get a grip and pay a little money for real radio! I was thinking the same that Jeff might be the next comic up. OR it would be fun to have Jimmy Florentine join the group-it would never happen...

129. I hope Howard bring him back, myself along with thousands of other lawyers are just waiting. I'd love a chance at a load of Howard's cash. This would be the easiest case in my career. But I know the Sirius lawyers would never allow Him back in the studio.

130. I beleive the whole thing was orchestrated by Howard himself! He knew that Artie was all lit up over the Teddy incident, and he just egged him on. Artie just snapped, and rightfully so! Howard is an instigator, and always will be. He played the innocent victim after it was over, but beleive me, he knew excatly what he was doing. If Artie leaves the show, it will be a sad day, in fact if he thinks his carreer will continue the way it is going now, he is sadly mistaken. He will fall off the deep end, and wind up OD'd somewhere when he can't handle the end of his carreer.

131. I LOVE ARTIE! I want him to get well and come back. We have all screwed up and he deserves another chance. The show would not be the same without him!

132. I have never found Artie funny. His jokes are lame and all he does is kiss Howard's ass. I long for the old days of Howard. I have been a listener since 92. Nothing beat their Channel 9 show. And his best radio was his conversations with Allison and his parents. Honestly Howard was much funnier when he was censored. It left more to the imagination. Now it seems like it's 4 hours of the F word. Bring back Jackie and Billy West. Bye Artie. Get help and get a life.

133. Someone asked who is Howard, as if to say nobody listens to him ... well, duh, he's on satellite "Serius" for thos of you who don't know that old-time radio is dead and sucks!

Howard is doing quite well , thank you. And those of you who don't, or have never listened to HS should be quiet , because you can only understand Stern and his show if you're a long-time listener.

As for Artie, he's a sick man, and anyone who can't see trhat need to have their heads examined.

Have a little compassion for the guy. He's tons better than Jackie!

134. remember when you used to click on that button and people would listen? There's no one out there and nobody cares. you're a loser stern and artie will self destruct. the world is better off without you guys. nobody misses you didn't you notice?

135. I hope Artie comes back, because the show REALLY needs him, He brings a lot, and i think he's one of the funniest persons alive. A lot of idiotic uptight people don't get his humor though... their bad. Probably the same people that laugh at Dane Cook's jokes, in other words: MORONS.
Come back Artie!

BTW; Howard has MORE LISTENERS than either phony Jay Leno or creepy Dave Letterman and true loyal fans.
