OMFG?! Is This Desperate or What?

Going lowbrow to raise eyebrows is "Gossip Girl's" newest lame attempt for ratings.
Gossip Girl
Should a show targeted at middle/high schoolers really be using "Oh My F**king God" for a tagline in their print and TV ads? Parents Television Council on line 2! LOL!

16. I have a 7th grader and am pretty open minded, but there's no way middle schoolers should be watching this show. While they're obviously trying to be hip with their tag line, they've taken it too far. I'm not a religious freak, but F*** and God should not be put together. A show that goes to this lengths to market itself is pretty desperate for attention....the wrong kind. Oh, yeah, I forgot, this show's about a bunch of rich, spoiled, self-absorbed kids desperate for attention...I get it now.

17. Sorry that is WAAAAAAAY to racy of a photo for a show that has such young viewers. I mean it is really silly to think that high school girls aren't sexually active and have never seen a photo like this before but it is still a tad inappropriate and definitely shouldn't be encouraged on a tv show. I think parents should be more concerned with the suggestive picture than the OMFG part. All kids cuss thats not shocking,

21. Who do you think invented acronyms like this? Some "desperate" ad agency or some teen/tween kid that says, texts, or types this so many times a day that it became vital to abbreviate it. If my (non-existent?) kid walked around saying things like "OMFG" because she saw it in a picture I'd just be glad that she wasn't flashing her vag every time she got out of a car because of what she saw on TMZ.

22. Oh I don't know...should a show targeted for middle/high school students portray its characters as trouble-making, sexually active, disrespectful, overly developed teens who in real life are probably in their 20s??? This is just the tip of the iceberg with this show! And people wonder why teenagers are so ridiculous these days...

23. I don't care what you all say, Gossip Girl is the ish, best show since Dawson's Creek.

24. No way! I haven't even heard of that show. They will sex it up some more so that there are more 16 y/o girls running around pregnant. Society keep pushing the sex scale and girls will take in that image and believe that is what they have to act like. T.V. needs to be more proactive towards the younger viewers so that they don’t conform to what images are being put out there. My daughter is 8 and I’m trying to keep her innocent but she will learn much more from her classmates than I care to know. Every day is a battle to try and un-condition her from what others tell her. Parents are priority 1 when it comes to what children see on T.V. and internet. I’m always watching her and making sure she is watching and doing thing for her age. However, when she’s at school I can only hope that she follows what I teach her and not follow her peers.

26.
It amazes me how young caucasian children live adult lives and I seem to be the only one disturbed by this. It seems to be a normal thing in the caucasian race and because the children are given birth control so that there are no unwanted pregnancies, accepted.

A show about underage kids screwing indiscriminately does not raise eyebrows just the use of the F word. Go Figure.

27. Last time I checked people CAN turn the channel or turn the TV OFF. Might I suggest a good book...or there's always Sesame Street. C'mon people, it's a marketing campaign that fits perfectly for this show. If you are offended, the show is not for you nor should it be.

28. I hate that show so much

29. It's making me laugh, that all the righteous "I will NEVER let my little darlings watch this filth" parents have turned out to post comments. And where did you hear about this ad? Right here, on this low-class gossip site that has profanity splashed all over it. Do you honestly not realize that your kiddies will learn less from TV than they do from YOUR actions? They'll notice more about what Mommy and Daddy Dearest are reading, watching, and doing than they will about some random ad campaign for a television show.

Morons.

30. First of all you'd have to be a complete moron to think that highschoolers and middle schoolers are not already exposed to this kind of language, most likely at school and from their friends, second of all, it's four letters...so unless they have already been exposed to this and know the big scary f word(give me a break) then they don't know what this means anyways. and by the way number 3 you would need to lock the kid up for the rest of her life to keep her from hearing bad language. the big misconception in this world is that by keeping kids and teens away from the tv and video games and music for god's sake is going to somehow change whats in the real world and what they are going to hear and witness daily.
