OMFG?! Is This Desperate or What?

Going lowbrow to raise eyebrows is "Gossip Girl's" newest lame attempt for ratings.
Gossip Girl
Should a show targeted at middle/high schoolers really be using "Oh My F**king God" for a tagline in their print and TV ads? Parents Television Council on line 2! LOL!

46. I can't believe that people are saying that this add or TV show is no big deal and that teenagers have sex and cuss anyways. It doesn't make it right. That is why when I have children I am not going to have TV. It is sooo corrupted. Peopled don't have morals anymore. People are sheep.

48. First of all, this show isn't targeted to middle schoolers(or 6 yr olds dallas). If you read the books, you would know that the books are way racier. And the show isn't all that much different from the OC or 90210 and nobody complained about them.

50. Oh wow, get over it.

it's called GOSSIP girl for a reason.
If someone's kids are too much of an idiot to WATCH and copy what they are doing at the same time. Then it's not the shows fault. Its the kids.
they address issues, it's not like they just show it to make their characters sleezy.

and it doesnt matter. kids learn stuff in school anyways. Whether or not a parent likes it. their kids are goin to cuss, eventually have sex ANYWAYS.

People act like preventing kids to watch show will make them a better person. NOT really.
it's up to that person. wtf?

the "Omfg" could mean of my FRICKIN' god. or oh my FREAKING god.

51. The show sucks and they resort to soft porn like shots to get people watching. Why not try good writing. Every commercial they run talks about how hot the show is WELL its not it SUCKS and they need to put something of better quality in its place like an hour long TMZ instead of kids that don't look like teenagers at all running around doing each other.

52. UMMMM NUMBER 48, taking a tv out of the picture bc it is corrupted is not going to stop the world from being corrupted and HELLO to everyone freaking out over this, gossip girl did not create omfg, a teenager did when we started abbr everything AND it doesn't say what the words are so why the big fuss, unless your kid knows it already then it doesn't matter and if they do then gossip girl didn't show it to them, and also the f and the g don't have to mean the actually words, gosh comes to mind. and its not a lame attempt for ratings bc they don't need them its a great ad idea bc it goes with the show.

53. Does anyone think the CW, which apparently has NO problem using such a curse word as an adjective to describe God, would have dared use an acronym that was equally offensive if used to describe someone's race or sexual orientation? NO. There is never an age at which any organization or society should condone a manner of behavior that is clearly disrespectful of something as important to so many people as religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. Why should it be considered OK to be blatantly offensive to others in this way? What is the CW's message to its target demographic -- teen girls -- for this show? That you never need to be concerned about how what you do affects anybody else? That a "me, me, me, and only what I care about" attitude is OK? Lord Have Mercy. Literally.

54. It's making me laugh, that all the righteous "I will NEVER let my little darlings watch this filth" parents have turned out to post comments. And where did you hear about this ad? Right here, on this low-class gossip site that has profanity splashed all over it. Do you honestly not realize that your kiddies will learn less from TV than they do from YOUR actions? They'll notice more about what Mommy and Daddy Dearest are reading, watching, and doing than they will about some random ad campaign for a television show.

Morons.

57. by realizing that your kids arent such angels is better than being in denial.

Check your kids text messages.
i bet alllllllllllll of them will either have "omfg " or actually spell THE f word out.

tsk tsk.

58. You all should try watching the show before you start judging it. If you would, you would see that usually all of the bad things like drugs, sex, and alcohol are seen in a bad light. The promo is an example of what Serena used to be and if you watched the show, again, you would see she is trying to be a good girl and her past is being thrown in her face. Also, for all these moms that think there daughters or sons are just the sweetest thing in the world...think again. I am 20 and I have a sister and everyone she is in school with is messing around. Did I mention she is only 13. Yeah. Get over it! It's a show!

60. haha if you think this is bad, watch the show haha

and besides, the show is really aimed for a older audience. it comes on later, not at 4pm people. and seriously did you let them watch the OC? sammmme thing. and come on, 2nd graders know more swearwords now than as a freshman. lets be honest people... and if this is going to let you change your mind about letting your children watch the show, did you sit down and watch it before letting them? so if you are going to pull the whole " my child wont watch this anymore!" you are a band wagon parent, only figuring out the right thing to do AFTER the media tells you what to do.

grow up and get up yourself
