Matchbox 20 Won't Play Because of Some Bulls***

Matchbox 20 is canceling a show at Cheyenne Frontier Days -- which bills itself as the world's biggest outdoor rodeo -- over their newfound concern for the animals involved. Did they not know what a rodeo was?

Lead singer Rob Thomas and his wife, Marisol, posted this statement on the band's website: "We ask that (fans) please understand that it would be impossible for us to put ourselves in the position of making money from what we believe to be the mistreatment of animals."

But get this: the band is still scheduled to perform at the North Dakota State Fair -- which also includes rodeo events. They'll figure it out eventually.

46. I am still laughing my "rump roast" off at Jaime! :) I do love Matchbox 20 though,,,,,,

47. Good for them. If you don't think rodeo is harmful, have a friend chase you down, lasso you, flip you down hard and tie your feet and hands. No, not you..a. small child instead, for that's what the brave "cowboys" are doing to calves. The "bucking" you see the bulls and horses do is caused by a bucking strap (looks like a low riding belt) around the inguinal area...guys, quite painful. It's yanked tight before the gates open. Oh, and there are the cattle prods too..........sound like fun? The cowboys choose to be there and get knocked around. The animals don't. Please respect Matchbox 20's decision.

48. Everyone's a freaking critic. Stop all of the Matchbox hating and show some respect for Rob and the band for having the guts to tell those horrible animal abusing a--h-les to cram it. I think it is great that they are standing up for their beliefs. We all have opinions - how many of us are willing to stand up for them publicly? especially when you are going to lose money behind it? Personally, I agree with MB20 - they did the right thing. Maybe if more people were willing to stand behind their own so called convictions, the world would be a better place.
Way to go Matchbox Twenty, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

49. I agree..good for them for making a stand...whether others think it will make a difference or not. In our grandparents days you didn't worry about e-coli in our veggie gardens...hell you ate stuff right out of the ground with no more than a 'brush off' of dirt....and yeah ... we used manure to fertilize. We drank raw...yep I said it... RAW un-pasteurized MILK. Guess what we didn't get sick... butter, cream.... Anyone who actually eats meat today and does NOT think the treatment of the animals you eat doesn't effect your food ... wake the hell up.

50. EXCELLENT points Cyinic! You don't have to a Vegan or Vegitarian to understand the importance of humane treatment of animals.

51. Hello Kitty...I'm not a vegan...but I also don't each much meat at all...grosses me out when I am preparing it for family and see arteries and veins.....and then I see how the poor animal suffered....I'm getting more and more into fresh fruit and veggies and grains...but the soil is being so contaminated now by what the animals r being fed....what a cycle...btw...quit using ur cells !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...RADIATION bigtime!!!!

52. Sad but True.. you are so right... I've also been trending my family away from meat... it's a process. We raise our own eggs and veggies but I just can't bring myself to buy meats... we havent' hit the 'Vegan' level... we do eat fish and eggs and cheese. Though the more I hear and see of the even those areas the more it upsets me. Maybe I'm just the odd guy...in my grandfathers day farm animals...be it for beef, pork or eggs were treated as the 'investment' they were... you took GREAT care of them, fed them well, kept them clean and housed comfortably .. ao they would produce and be healthy... sadly I guess those days asre gone..... out the door with farm land sold for housing complexes..... so sad... and I fear so bad for our future

53. As a proud animal activist,I applaud Matchbox for this and hope more artists will follow suit; and all of you animal torturers can also kiss my a**.Eventually I have hopes humanity will treat animals with the dignity they deserve. And to all the ignorant people out there:the bulls and horses suffer greatly and the only reason they buck like they do is because their testicles are being squeezed to the max.I'd LOVE to see al those "macho" guys that go to these horrid events have THEIR testicles squeezed as tight or tighter than the poor animals and then I would laugh my head off...bunch of F@#$%g cowards......the roping and other parts of the rodeo...ok...but I still,to this day, cannot understand how people can have fun watching these poor animals be tortured like that....Good for Matchbox,PETA,ASPCA,The Humane Society,Sea Shepherd and EVERYONE out there doing their part to eradicate cruelty to animals!

54. Hello Kitty.....my late mom use to say how the next generation would be hit bigtime with cancer and heart disease...NOW , I get it...and the #'s show it!!...and the avalanche of my kids generation won't show up for another 20 yrs........heart disease and cancer will be showing up when they r in their late 30's and 40's instead of their 70's...FAST FOOD IS A KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!..my boyz have been eduacated on commercialization of take out!!!!.......p.s...r generation of kids...they c grandparent living longer with the meds...etc...that they never had before...but it is only working for the elderly because they weren't raised on processed foods!!!!!!!!!!..

55. True again Sad but True.. Can anyone actually get through 30 mins of TV without being bombarded by food ads?...Sadly we seem to be a world that mostly denies everything until we are actually drowning in it... and then... it's too late.

56. TMZ's headline is very inaccurate. Rodeos are not only cruel to bulls, but also to calves, steers, horses and other animals. Rodeo people apparently haven't found a species they don't enjoy abusing, maiming and killing. There are plenty of rodeo videos on YouTube today that show the terrible treatment, but I guess first TMZ would have to lose its preoccupation with Anny Nicole's corpse, or Ms. Hilton's boobs or Ms. Spears' pantiless crotch.

Tell you what TMZ -- stick to the nonsense, cause that's your level. Leave people with talent and a spine (Like MB20) alone, and don't take on issues where you haven't a clue.

57. I am sorry but rodeos are just a part of the ole west and America. Pick another cause and I will be on board. Love Matchbox but if they are going to eat a hamburger in the near future I will not support this,

59. Kudos for their decision to cancel this show. They show the world not everything is just about money and business.

There's a huge difference between eating meat and wearing leather shoes or wristbands... one thing is to slaughter animals, but TORTURING them to have some fun and entertainment is a whole different thing and a total no-go.

Rock on Matchbox Twenty! Thanks Rob and Marisol!

60. Let's see, what does Matchbox 20 do for fun? Drugs? Alcohol? Or do they sit in their homes and watch the grass grow?
