Matchbox 20 Won't Play Because of Some Bulls***

Matchbox 20 is canceling a show at Cheyenne Frontier Days -- which bills itself as the world's biggest outdoor rodeo -- over their newfound concern for the animals involved. Did they not know what a rodeo was?

Lead singer Rob Thomas and his wife, Marisol, posted this statement on the band's website: "We ask that (fans) please understand that it would be impossible for us to put ourselves in the position of making money from what we believe to be the mistreatment of animals."

But get this: the band is still scheduled to perform at the North Dakota State Fair -- which also includes rodeo events. They'll figure it out eventually.

62. RODEO LIVESTOCK ARE TREATED BETTER THEN FAMILY PETS.

I am an animal lover and work for better treatment of animals.

The Horse racing industry could learn from the Stock owners of Rodeo Animals.

63. Oh and HSUS and PETA are one in the same.
THEY BOTH WANT TO ERADICATE PEOPLE HAVING ANY ANIMALS.
That means no dogs or cats folks.

The President of HSUS has said "One generation and OUT"

Also you need to visit this site if you want to know PETA s real agenda.
PETA kills 97% of the animals it took in

I own a large farm with many cows, goats and chickens, and various other strays. I am a member of the county Humane society. We have our meetings at my farm, and even in my barn on occasion. This is not a no kill farm. This is a real farm, which makes money, but the animals are treated well, respected and taken care of. As part of the humane society I have supported and even helped them take animals away from horrible conditions. I help set up rehab for animals. I do not support Peta. They are blood throwing, lab destorying, insulin hating group of radicals. I eat meat, I wear leather. I have a service dog to help me because I am disabled. The humane society, especially in my very rural farm community is not anything like PETA. I think you are very misinformed.

66. LetsBeHonest,

Do not confuse your local ASPCA with the NATIONAL HSUS

Please go read some things on HSUS it should scare you

Here is just an excerpt

The Humane Society of the United States is a much more subtle but equally as dangerous animal rights group. I once saw a very fitting analogy, the difference between PeTA and the HSUS is like the difference between a mugger and a con man - they both steal your money but they have different tactics, and a different timetable. PeTA is a mugger that tries to force its agenda quickly through propoganda and violence, while the HSUS is a con man who is slowly infiltrating government and society looking for a long term realization of the same goals.

HSUS ties with PeTA

The HSUS employs several former PeTA employees, and Ingrid Newkirk, president and founder of PeTA has allies within the HSUS directors.
One of Newkirk's allies would be Wayne Pacelle, vice president for media and government affairs. Pacelle was hired by the HSUS directly from Cleveland Amory's Fund for Animals. Amory is also interestingly the mentor of PeTA co-founder Alex Pacheco.
Newkirk used the help of Amory in 1987 when she seized corporate and financial control of the anti-research New England Anti-Vivisection Society and its multi-million dollar bank account, the first of her moves to consolidate the animal movement under her influence.

Other former PeTA employees and associates who are now employed at HSUS include the chief computer programmer, the head of its national and international investigations who by the way, also oversees its lucrative Wildlife Lands Trust, two key HSUS investigators and many other people throughout the HSUS corporate structure, including its lab animal section, which handles the medical research issue.

67. WTF is right...... ruining the event because they had a "sudden" attach of conscience is silly - and I KNOW I've seen Rob Thomas wear leather pants. I used to really be a fan of MB20 but rodeos are not the problem in the world today, spend more time on animals and less time in Hummers and let's see how the planet does. Worry about the Exxon's of the world not the 1500 lbs of bull - worry about the bullriders rather than the bulls - actually GO to an event before you say they are cruel to animals. Actually walk w/real people at real places before you make a stand about something you know nothing about!

68. Didn't he and Tom Cruising play naked rodeo? Marisol really has a rope around his neck. What a homo!! And all you PETA nuts - you're all just a bunch of self-righteous weirdos.

69. Eating meat is cruel and abuse.
It's no different if you know anything about where meat comes from.
Stop protecting rob thomas from the evil of actual TRUTH!

70. HSUS and PETA are hardly alike unless you count four letters in their abbrev.

71. Interesting comment by Kelli ..."They were awesome at one time, I hate to think they are now doing rodeos and state fairs" - for your information, they just finished a US tour where they sold out Madison Square Garden! Get real! This band has sold millions of records and is in the position to play ANY venue they want! They sided with their conscience on this one, which is their right.

74. Rodeos are inherently cruel. In one typical rodeo event, calf roping, calves are violently roped and jerked to the ground by their necks as they run up to 27 mph. The calves are stunned with a stun gun so the participants can tie the legs of the calf together. Injuries and deaths are common. In steer-wresting rodeo events, the participant grabs the steer by his horns, twists his neck and slams him to the ground. Electric prods, flank straps, sharpened sticks and other pain inflicting devices are common tools of torture in rodeos.

The first way to help animals in rodeos is to urge local governments to ban rodeos. Next, we can stop doing business with companies that sponsor rodeos. Companies such as AT&T, Coca-Cola, McDonald's and Waste Management all are sponsors of rodeos. Go to www.ATTcruelty.com for more information.

75. WOW!!!!! Are you people SERIOUSLY saying that rodeos are not cruel and inhumane to animals? Give me a break!!!

First of all, to you foolish people who believe that the humans who climb up on the bulls are the ones who are mistreated...
-the humans make a conscious, educated decision to do so
-the bulls are simply trying to escape the torment

Second, I dont believe any of you could possibly excuse chasing, catching, throwing down on the ground and tying up goats, calfs, etc...
-I have personally seen a calf chased right into the wall of the arena and killed!!!! Anyone who can excuse that has SERIOUS moral issues.

Third, I could not hunt or kill any animal...HOWEVER, it is popular belief that meat is an important part of our daily diet so obviously it is necessary to kill some animals for food. It is NEVER okay to torture, mistreat or abuse...NEVER!!!!

Fourth, do you REALLY think less of MB20 just because they chose not to perform at a rodeo???? OMG...the only word for ya'll is.....MORONS
