Celebrity Justice
TMZ to Dr. Phil: Show Me The Money!

We have exclusivity -- WTF does that mean?!? Check out video of Dr. Phil's so-called "producer," shot by FOX in Tampa, as one of the teens charged with allegedly videotaping a brutal beating was released from jail.

While this guy claims "exclusivity," TMZ has learned that collateral for this chick's five figure bail was backed -- in full -- by something equal to that amount. We're told this is usually done in cash, a mortgage on a house, land or cars. So who put up that scratch? This dude?? We doubt it.

Dr. Phil's statement suggests some sort of rogue producer went down to Florida and went "beyond their guidelines." We're not buying it.

Here's how it works ...

We're told the bail was $33,000. In order to bail the teen out, the bondsman or woman would get 10% in cash, and the rest must be guaranteed by collateral. That's a lot of dough! So who approved the money? We're told some higher up -- Terry Wood (the big boss at CBS/Paramount TV) or even Dr. Phil himself -- would have to OK that kind of cash ... not some freelancer who "went beyond the guidelines."

Here's the rub: there's a gag order on all involved in the case -- including the Polk County Sheriff's Office. So all that cash spent -- and Dr. Phil can't get squat out of anybody involved. Oops.

A rep for the show told us "Please reread the statement we gave you. Nothing you are imagining it says or implies is true."

152. WHILE MANY AMERICANS WHO SNACK ON REALITY TV have only come to know the offering since being added to the prime time menu, savvy couch potatoes recognize that the form has long been a daytime staple.

Crabby had her own foray in talk TV, and toward the end of my stint, I worried that we'd soon be recording murder. That's because every "next show" had to evoke more shock, awe, sorrow, shame, joy or delight than the last one. The environment was 24/7 of fever-pitch for more, better, faster. And if you didn't deliver, well then, you failed. Because the viewers -- and the staff -- had already heard the one about the dog who saved his master from the fire, or about the grandfather who took snapshots of his grandkid naked, or the couples' swapping partners, or mothers who trashed their newborns. And so you better have something even more incredulous today than you did yesterday.

So it seems a little disingenuous that Dr. Phil's has suddenly been fingered as sleazeball? Have you people been snoozing?

159. Montel Williams was fired for far less. Can't we band together and get this phony doctor off the air? Who do we contact?
I will be the first to put my name on the list. He is harming people with his "make it up as you go psychology". He is an ego manic, bully, and fame/money hungry individual. His show needs to be stopped immediately.

160. Wow, you people amaze me. You have no clue. Do you really think that Dr. Phil said "get that girl out of jail?" If you do then you have never watched the show. Also this shows me that you are ignorant!!!!!! Get a life and at least sign your name to your post. Only cowards make a statement and not give their name. Leave him alone. Go after the FAT IDIOT who was on the video. If you have a clue about how huge show biz works then you know that the big wig doesn't know everything that happens until it is already done. I LOVE DR. PHIL. Ok now you can start your slamming and I will read with a smile on my face while I think about how easy it is to piss you off. I have the power over you when you rant. LOL

161. I think it's time for Harpo Productions (i.e. Oprah) to dump this trash TV before it brings her down with it (i.e. Dr. Phil). I thought she was a great business woman, but until she gets rid of the "dog" she has to own for it's content as well.

162. I'm not sure I understand. I'm not defending Dr. Phil, but how do you not think that this dude couldn't drum-up the money on his own? I have bailed someone out of jail before and all the bail bondsman needed was a check for the amount that was held just in case there was a "no show" when court-time came around.

This seems more like a personal attack on Dr. Phil himself than a story based on fact or even reality.

I admit that I have disagreed with some of his "takes" about the characters he has on his show. I want to say, "What are YOU thinking, Dr. Phil" but, I believe that his show has helped more people than not.

So, if your goal is to report news as would the National Enquirer, then you have succeeded. If you want to be considered a reputable source for all the "got to have it in your face celebrity facts", then you need to clean up your act a bit.
