Dr. Phil -- Screwed from the Bottom

TMZ has learned Dr. Phil's legal document wielding, cash-carrying, tough guy was not a supervising producer on the show. He was not an assistant producer. He was not a producer. He was not even close to being a producer. He was a production assistant. Think intern with a paycheck.
Here's the way it all went down: The good Doc's executive staff sent a seasoned producer down to Florida, along with a P.A. to chase the story of 8 teens who allegedly beat a classmate on tape. We're told the folks back home were horrified when they saw Mr. Large-and-In-Charge putting the smackdown on local reporters after springing 17-year-old Mercades Nichols from the pokey. We're told execs on the show were pissed that the experienced producer allowed the P.A. to be in a position to embarrass the show in front of the cameras.

The bigger question -- who hatched the plan to pay the bail for the woman accused of kidnapping and videotaping the brutal beating? The show issued a statement saying certain staff members "went beyond their guidelines," but the buzz on the Paramount lot is that it would be impossible for the producer to pay the $3,300 for the bail and put up $33,000 in collateral without the full knowledge and approval of higher-ups on the show.

The plan could have been pulled off, but after the P.A. mouthed off publicly, Phil's battleship was sunk somewhere off the Florida coast.

We contacted Phil's people an hour ago, who responded by saying they "have no additional comment."

31. Fantastic idea to keep a list of his sponsors and then "ignore" them all or even better, contact THEM and let them know how appalling it is to be advertising on his show!! What a sleeze. TMZ I hope you keep on this until his big bald head gets buried in the ground.

32. Great post #18.....I laughed my butt off on that one....although it is an insult to every Perkin's Assistant Manager out there!!! Of course, they all have more integrity than "Doctor" Phil has, which is NONE!!!! Doctor my ass!!!!

33. To #8 Wish there was a show, are you crazy? Haven't those sociopaths had enough coverage on TV? Like they would ever listen to a bald windbag like Phil. What little of the coverage I saw made me sick. I sure as hell don't want them to have the floor on Phil's comedy hour. He is no doctor and his advice is quick fix gooble-dee-gook. Those girls were out to do someserious damage to an innocent girl..they set her up to get her ass beat and you want to see the monsters on TV again so Phil can straighten them out? That would be like having Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, Leslie Van Houten and CHarles Manson on his show so he could straighten them out. #8 you had better wake up and realize that there are some damn dangerous people out there and just a word from Phil is not going to stop them from maiming or killing another human being. You may think Phoney Phil is the greatest thing next to sliced bread but he is nothing but a windbag and we have Oprah to thank for giving his services to America. He is shameless and so is she! I am fed up with the criminals getting the air time but who cares about the victims? Obviously you don't.

34. LOL...I could see Jerry Springer bailing out this team for 'higher fight ratings'...but a 'Dr Quack'?...who himself has anger issues and beat his wife.does he see himself in this teen anf feels remorse?...Dr Phi is nothing but a Cult and greedy money monger at the expense of others...welcome to the Al Sharpton,Jesse Jackson Club.

35. I find it very hard to believe that this "young intern" could take $3300 of the show's money and find the collateral for the rest without the senior producer knowing about it. Is this "intern" a trust-fund baby who can take it out of petty cash? I think the producer knew about it and probably told Dr. Phil and now their just trying to cover their assets.

hahaha, that was several games ago. Since then we've taken 2 out of 3 from the Tigers and so far we've split the series with the Yankees. It's early days yet. I'll worry about the Blue Jays in September.

Go Sox

39. This is NOT a therapy issue. This is a JAIL TIME issue. Dr. Phil is giving those little monsters exactly what they were hoping for. The poor kid who was beaten probably thought these girls were her friends ... until they knocked her cold.

41. To the Management of TMZ:

You reported: "We're told the folks back home were horrified when they saw Mr. Large-and-In-Charge putting the smack down on local reporters..." "Smack Down" indeed. If that is your version of accurate reporting then your journalistic integrity and ethics are certainly no better than Dr. Phil's. Any objective viewing of the video coverage reveals a young man politely and quitely stating he had "no comment" in spite of the obnoxious and repeated badgering by clearly rookie press. If the powers that generate TMZ want to be taken seriously, they may want to consider a factual approach to reporting, otherwise it is no better than the trash peddled at the grocery check-out lane...pulp for the ill-informed and uneducated.

Cheers

43. I think there was a typo in the headline. That should be "Dr. Phil was screwed IN the bottom" not FROM the bottom.

44. YOUR FAVORITE STERNOIDS ARE AT IT!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA

Posted at 11:34PM on Apr 13th 2008 by OH BOY

45. Those teenagers need to sit in jail for a very long time. No one should bail them out. If Dr. Phil doesn't quit sticking his nose where it doesn't belong....for ratings sake, i.e., more money in his pocket (as if he needs more!) his show will soon go by the wayside. I watch his show but this is getting tiring now. Those kids need to learn a good lesson and no amount of "counseling" from Dr. Phil will make it right!!!!!!
