"Big Love" Keeps it Real?

The ladies on HBO's polygamist drama "Big Love"...

... and female members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Yearning for Zion Ranch.

Only one of them represents the real housewives of Schleicher County, Texas.

We're just sayin'!

181. What happens to the "lost boys" when they leave? Well they leave with only the clothes on their backs and often without any money. What would you do given that situation and especially if you had a 5th grade education? Many turn to prostitution just to eat. Drugs often follow. Simply google "lost boys" to receive more information.

182. 174. The men on this compound are cowards!! Throwing the women to the media wolves. Just give the kids back to the women, let the women run the compound (they look like they could handle it) and JAIL the creepy old men who get their jollys with young girls. Dirty Old Men cowards.

BTW….What happens to the “lost boys” who are throw out into our 21century live style, can someone clear that up for me?

There are some outsiders that have taken in the Lost boys. They help them adjust to the outside world. They help them with job training so that they can be employed and try to get an education or GED. The boys are dumped outside of the compund and are never allowed to see their siblings or mothers again. They are left with no money , and no belongings. They are truly the throw away boys. It is sad that you see these mothers doing interviews about how they want their children back (really the girls) while at the same time they say nothing when the men throw their sons away so the young girls will belong to them. I have seen these boys cry for their moms during interviews as they have never known any other life but the one they were removed from.
Some of the boys have major problems trying to adjust and get into drugs, drinking, rebeling and not able to socially adapt.
These people were born into this way of life and they come from many generations that have lived this way. Time to stop it IMO

183. Thank you David and Good for Texas.

It brings bile from my stomach to hear such cruel stories about these Lost Boys. And now especially as the “Mothers” never mention OLDER BOYS as they cry for their children on T.V.

I hope the lid is “blown off” and exposed in every aspect of this cult / religion.

184. Them women are extremely homely....could be one reason they like it there.
They're supported, don't have to think for themselves, have clothes, medical care, food. Some of them would probably homeless out on the streets.
I'm not understanding why it's ok to have more than one wife, but if women take more than one man
it's not ok.
And you wonder why more women are single? Even choosing being a single mom over a husband?
This sect is nothing more than slavery of women and raising girls and boys to think it's okay. Such a powerful man to subjegate women and little girls.
I've met alot of Mormons, and for the most part they are decent, hardworking people. NO matter what religion
there's gonna be a few bad nuts, and you just have to pick 'em out and grind them up.

186. Why is it a man can go out and get 4,5,6 women pregnant and nothing is given a 2nd thought or you can live with a woman then decide you no longer want her and and move in with another and on and on. Why take a 5 year old from the arms of her mother or mothers, the only one they have ever known? To give them a better life in a foster home???? These people at least are taking care of their children, teaching them to live off the land like the Amish do. People looked down on the Amish for their belief's a long time ago. If there is abuse going on then go after the one who is abusing in stead of trumping up a story so you can pull another Waco ,not the whole sect.If these ladies want to have sister wives so what. There are a lot of men out there who have mistress's and there wife knows , so what's the differece? These women and their sister wives are probably a lot happier then a lot of you out there.

188. A foolish, stupid post on TMZ from a dumb 20-something.

Big Love is not wholey about fundamentalist mormon sects. It's about how mormon family are straddles the fine line between mainstream suburban life and their fundamentalist roots.

With the recent Texas child custody issue, the TMZ writer tried to be a bit of smart-ass over this pic comparison. She's looks foolish for it ......

193. 157. They ask where's proof of abuse?? i say among by the amount of children produced on a mass scale, there's your proof staring you in the face

Posted at 7:26AM on Apr 17th 2008 by La femme

Uh, if having great numbers of children is "abuse" then you'd better arrest the entire population of the Catholic schools I attended, where families had from as few as 3 to as many as 17 children.

194. There is not even an ALLEGATION that the younger or male children have been abused, just that teens have been married off early (which is legal in many, many states). How, in American, do you confiscate dozens and dozens of children with not even an allegation that those children are endangered or abused?

Go after anyone forcing marriage on teens, if that allegation can be proven, but that state is in for one hell of a class action suit if dozens of children NOT alleged to be in danger or abused have been taken from their families based on religious bigotry and witch hunt mentalities.

195. If men having babies my multiple "baby mommas" and those women defrauding the welfare system has y'all up in arms, perhaps you should take that up with African American community in the U.S. Or is it ok if to do the exact same thing as long as you don't have a unibrow or wear a bad dress?
