"Big Love" Keeps it Real?

The ladies on HBO's polygamist drama "Big Love"...

... and female members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Yearning for Zion Ranch.

Only one of them represents the real housewives of Schleicher County, Texas.

We're just sayin'!

76. If TMZ did their research, they would have known the only woman on the Show who came from the "compound" was Chloe Sevigny's character. So by comparison, she actually is dressed very similiar to the real polygamist women in photo 2.

77. Katie Holmes would be perfect to play that part.

81. Ann what type of mormonism did you live in? I have lived in Utah, had great friends who are Mormons, been free to go to church where I want. I've never been shunned, or pressured or made to feel unwelcome. When I was in the hospital, it was my Mormon naeighbors who brought in meals ans helped with my family. I moved away 2 years ago and miss being there very much. Some of the best friends in my life are Mormon and live in Utah. FYI they are very loyal to the United States and many have kids in the military serving all over the world including Afghanistan and Iraq. I'm sorry for your bad experience, but I cherish mine. In fact it has made me feel more like I want to raise my children with more religion in their lives (although not Mormon, we did not convert) and to learn the value of serving others in our community.

83. How could people still believe in any religion? It was understandable when they did hundreds of years ago when people did not know about science so they made up religion and all that God nonsense so it can seem that they have a 'purpose' in the world and life, but now we have uncovered so many scientific proofs that ALL RELIGIONS ARE FAKE, FAKE, FAKE AND EVEN MORE FAKE, yet so many ignorant people STILL continue to believe in it.

IT IS TIME FOR ALL TYPES OF RELIGIONS TO FADE AWAY TO OBLIVION AND THEN THE WORLD WILL TRULY BE A BETTER PLACE. THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE, ALL WARS IN THE WORLD THAT WE LEARN IN HISTORY ARE CREATED AND CAUSED BECAUSE OF RELIGION. NO RELIGION NO WARS.

85. Mainstream Mormonism, California. Yes, I also went to the temple. Hear the words of my mouth.

Of Course the Mormons were nice to you and showed up - you were their conversion project.

Also, serving in the military is not really encouraged by the Mormon church, especially not for women. The church needs butts in the pews and young men to peddle their cult. However, young Mormons do join the services - mostly to get away from the grasp of the church and to gain independence.

I should also mention that DNA has already shown that the Book of Mormon is a 19th century HOAX. The American Indians are NOT Semitic, their DNA shows that they came from Asia.

86. Yes, these people do have a history of inbreeding. In fact, the disease is called Fumerase Deficiency (polyg downs). They receive additional welfare rights and are actually happy because of the extra govertment money and heck it's only "bleeding the beast" with the government as the beast. Warren Jeffs, the polyg "prophet" has 8 charges against him including rape and incest. He "spiritually married" a girl to her 19 year old uncle. It is not uncommon and these followers abide by those same rules and the reason why the children NEEDED to be pulled from their home! Girls are born at a rate of 51% while boys are born at 49%. What does the compound do with the extras boys when the old men see the boys flirting with girls their own age? They toss them out with the clothes on their backs and are known as the "lost boys." Girls are known as "poofers" and disappear poof in the middle of the night when their mothers notify the elders that they have reached puberty. That is why the mothers, while sobbing, are guilty of collusion and why I feel no guilt when they cry. Where were their tears when their sons were forced into prostitution to eat? Where were their tears as their 14 year old daughters were being raped by men much older than themselves and whom they barely knew?
How do they commit welfare fraud? The first wife is legally married to the husband. Each additional wife is only "spiritually married" they claim no husband. They collect welfare as a result.

87. #1 SAID IT RIGHT...BEFORE MAKING COMMENTS TMZ AND ANYONE ELSE.............MAKE SURE U WATCH THE DAMN SHOW!!!!!!!

Posted at 6:52PM on Apr 16th 2008 by REDD

88. Ann, what church are you talking about. You need to check your facts because what you claim is ALL wrong. I think the one that is the most laughable is that they demand 10%. And their allegiance is to God - and they are like everyone else when it comes to America. I'm pretty confident that Utah has sent out more military than most states. Seriously, check your facts!

I really feel for these poor women. I hope all works out and they can get away (with their children) from these crazy abusive men.

89. In reference to comment #15 as follows:

"From experience, as a REFORMED mormon . . .

Mormons are wacko!! Thank god Romney dropped out of the Presidential race."

Posted at 4:44PM on Apr 16th 2008 by From Experience

I just wanted to call you on your ignorance...Mormon's do not practice poligamy! Are you a reformed Mormon or a reformed member of the FLDS Church? If your former religion practiced poligamy, your were not a Mormon.

P.S. Can't wait for "Big Love" to return - lots of fun!!
