PETA to Morrissey: To Sirloin, With Love

PETA is full of bull -- or at least they like hangin' with people who are full of it.

The animule rights organization called us out for calling Morrissey out yesterday. You see, vegetarian Morrissey, who wrote the song/album, "Meat is Murder," chowed down at STK -- a hip steakhouse in West Hollywood. PETA says it's ok for hard-core veggies to eat at a steakhouse because -- and we quote -- "Steakhouses have some of the best vegetarian food around." Oh yeah, gotta love that Kobe cauliflower! Maybe Morrissey gets a pass 'cause he's a believer.

PETA big cheese Ingrid Newkirk tells TMZ she's got no beef with steakhouses -- she's been to the STK in New York herself.

We're wondering if it's ok for Pam Anderson to shop for spandex at Fred the Furrier...

UPDATE: Michael McGraw from PETA just called us to say he was upset by our story, adding, "PETA is fine with vegetarians dining at steakhouses. It's just like shopping at stores like Whole Foods that also sell meat, because it's good to show proprietors they can make money by selling veggie options." Um, OK. What about getting mashed potatoes at KFC?

17. You people are a joke. PETA actually does some GOOD in the world, while you are sitting on your fat asses behind your computers telling us IF you WERE going to pick an organization to do some good, it would be for abused and neglected children? THEN WHY DON'T YOU DO IT? PETA is for animal rights. There are many organizations for human rights. Just because you fight for one cause does not mean you do not support another. There is a difference between Thinkers and Doers, and couchpatatos with computers.

18. you know what i think is crazy?

i didn't see pam freak out when her ex husband tommy decided to be lazy at his pool party and allowed a child to drown and die... just a few years ago.

if one of my children's friends died because my husband was more interested in the bikinis or booze at the pool party than the kids, i would NEVER let him hang with my boys alone. but she still gives him the benefit of the doubt.

i wonder if she would be as equally upset if a cat drowned in the pool that day...

19. I am a vegetarian and animal rights activist. I see nothing wrong with going to a Steakhouse if you're a veggie! Get over it TMZ. At least PETA tries to do some good for the world and all it's creatures. What are you doing to make the world better?! That's what I thought. And to all of you who are saying "help the humans": Humans can help themselves. We're the ones torturing innocent and defenseless animals!!!!!

20. The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated. - Mahatma Gandhi

I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man. - Mahatma Gandhi

If you don't have the receipt that shows Morrissey ate steak, you don't have a story. You're just once again spreading the idiocracy that is TMZ. Do you, the staff of TMZ, ever wonder how you ended up in such vacuous, vacant jobs? Devoid of meaning? Completely lacking in any merit? Were you always underachievers? Media whores?

Long live PETA, Ingrid Newkirk, and all the people who understand that compassion is not a finite resource. Caring for animals and minimizing their suffering does not mean you don't have time left to care for your fellow man.

Think bigger.
Expect more from yourself.

Expect more... from... yourself.

21. #14 stuffy your sarcasm and read this.......http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/offset_gore

PETA belittling Al Gore and accusing him of contributing to global warming for eating meat.

Again, it's okay for them to give their dollars to eat at a steak house that but buys meat and sells meat?

Are you deliberately obtuse by the way? And do your own research. You apparently are not very informed on PETA's fanatical views.

22. It was news that he ate at a steakhouse? I am a vegetarian and a PETA member, and have eaten at many steakhouses, when I have family get togethers. What is the big deal about that? Unfortunately, there arent too many restaurants that serve just vegetarian meals. Would it have been news if he ate at an Italian restaurant? You know, they serve meat there as well.

Come on TMZ.

23. I cannot stand PETA. I love animals but, my God, EATING AT A STEAKHOUSE?!?!? I am speechless. These PETA beotches need to get a mink coat and GET OVER IT.

24. #22.

I have a cause dumbass. What is YOUR passion, besides a platter of burgers? I'm calling out people who criticize those who do while they themselves do nothing. Which would be a blithering moran, most likely, you.

25. Clue4U - this is what you said "So giving your dollars and helping to financially support a steak house which buys animals that have been, per PETA inhumanely cared for and slaughtered, is not hypocrisy?"

I was asking for evidence that they said this steakhouse inhumanely cared for a slaughtered animals - I looked and I didn't find anything. What you provided also does not support your original comment and does not make any mention of any steakhouse. It just makes a point about global warming.

So before you call me obtuse, you may want to pull your head out of your rear and look in the mirror.

26. Thank you, Sirloin Sam. So true.

27. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!?!?!?! You're arguing about a vegetarian going to a steakhouse. GET A LIFE!!!

28. Well #23/Jennifer, read what PETA's website says.

http://www.goveg.com/factoryFarming_cows.asp

So instead of using the lame excuse that there are no good places to get a vegetarian meal, why don't PETA members open a place to eat insteading giving financial aid to the very kinds of people they seem to think are contributing to the slaughter of animals. According to their web site, Al Gore is contributing to global warming eating meat, so every time one of their members or officers eats at a steak house, which means they are helping keep them in business, they are doing the same thing then.

THIS SHOULD BE ON THE ABC NIGHTLY NEWS. After the nutty tactics they have stooped to, handing out gory pamplets to children and scaring them half to death, throwing blood on people, now insulting Al Gore (a moron who needed no help from PETA) someone really SHOULD call attention to this hypocrisy.

29. My husband is vegetarian and goes to sushi restaurants with me. Should people who fight for mistreated animals not get on airplanes because 1st class has leather seats? PETA is a much needed organization.

30. As a vegatarian myself.. living in the midwest, no less, it is almost.. no actually impossible, to find an all vegatarian menu anywhere... i don't think i am hypocritical for shopping and dinning at places that sell meat... there are few other choices.
