PETA to Morrissey: To Sirloin, With Love

PETA is full of bull -- or at least they like hangin' with people who are full of it.

The animule rights organization called us out for calling Morrissey out yesterday. You see, vegetarian Morrissey, who wrote the song/album, "Meat is Murder," chowed down at STK -- a hip steakhouse in West Hollywood. PETA says it's ok for hard-core veggies to eat at a steakhouse because -- and we quote -- "Steakhouses have some of the best vegetarian food around." Oh yeah, gotta love that Kobe cauliflower! Maybe Morrissey gets a pass 'cause he's a believer.

PETA big cheese Ingrid Newkirk tells TMZ she's got no beef with steakhouses -- she's been to the STK in New York herself.

We're wondering if it's ok for Pam Anderson to shop for spandex at Fred the Furrier...

UPDATE: Michael McGraw from PETA just called us to say he was upset by our story, adding, "PETA is fine with vegetarians dining at steakhouses. It's just like shopping at stores like Whole Foods that also sell meat, because it's good to show proprietors they can make money by selling veggie options." Um, OK. What about getting mashed potatoes at KFC?

91. #13...THANKS FOR THE INFO.This is a tough one. I am a vegetarian, wish I could be all vegan, and I'm suspicious of PETA , they have extreme tactics and ban Pit Bulls. I've already written them to stop asking me for money and go with Farm Sanctuary instead, and Best Friends, I like them better. Now I'm hearing PETA kill animals, that sux!! Well, I do have to eat at plenty of places that serve meat, or I go without, but I like to support restaurants who make the effort to provide veggie dishes and try new things, even if they serve meat. I have thought about boycotting them, but I'm happy they try.

I make an impact. I haven't read HAVE NOT spent about a million dollars on animal products for my family in 20 yrs, so I think with everyone else going that way it has persuaded the industry to make changes to more humane methods and it's about progress not perfection. Not just yet anyhow. Maybe soon we can have more control over where we eat, that would be nice. We are saturated with animal products, I just found out film is made from gelatin and that means no movies! lol not really, but I do the best I can and I am sure so is this guy Morrisey who TMZ is picking on just to make money. Who knows if they really think this stuff, or they just make up drama for us to fight over for ratings.

If any of you don't care about animals, that's bad enough, but why would you fight so angrily against people who do care? What difference does it make to you? What's wrong with you that you would go against someone trying to protect an animal who has no one to protect it? Isn't that a good thing that people try to stop animal abuse?

42. Once again, People with a Cause, being ridiculed by people with no Cause. THAT is the ultimate hypocricy. LOVE IT!!!! You said it right!

92. Btw...I'm really getting sick of this TMZ always having an opinion and not reporting the news. I mean really! Who are you to judge?

I'M ON MY WAY OUT OF TMZ, IT'S GETTING OLD, THE SAME NASTY COMMENTS AND JUDGEMENTS. YOU ARE ATTRACTING A LOW CLASS AUDIENCE. IF YOU DON'T CHANGE SOON, I'M GOING TO GET BORED. WHO CARES WHO SHOWS THEIR PANTIES, JUST SHOW IT, BUT DON'T GO AROUND SHOWING IT ALL AND THEN JUDGING IT. YOU CAN'T JUST HIDE BEHIND "DON'T SHOOT THE MESSANGER" IF YOU KEEP SQUAWKING LIKE A BIRD. ADMIT YOU ARE DOING NOTHING IMPORTANT FOR A LIVING. YOU ARE NO BETTER

93. Leave Morrissey alone!!!

94. I think SOMEONE *hint tmz* is clutching at straws on this one. Why such a fuss? If vegetarians aren't to eat or buy from anywhere that sells meat/animal products, we're pretty screwed as that would be pretty much everywhere. And as for you people saying why not aim for human rights instead, lame lame lame. I bet you wear Nikes don't you? Converse? Adidas? Hope you appreciate the hard word those little five year olds put in to making those items for you! I bet you contribute your little bits to buying into slave labour. :)

PETA does some questionable things, but this time, they're just on the wrong end of a witch hunt.

KFC are evil, why the hell do you throw that into the mix? Like I said, clutching straws much?

95. Oh Peta, Peta... Unite with the NME and try to take over...
I'm with you all the way, but don't step on Morrissey, that's my limit.

96. This is ridiculous. I am vegan for animal protection reasons and eat all the time at restaurants that, dare I say it, serve meat. Guess what--I pay them to provide delicious vegan meals to me. Where's the story?

97. PETA Rocks!! Sorry if some of you do not know this BUT they are an animal rights organization that sticks up for the voiceless!! Peace!

99. This doesnt make any sense. If you are a true and proud Democrat does that mean that you have to only befriend Democrats? Does that mean you can no longer talk to your mother and father that most likely are Republicans? If it were to become that strict would we no longer be able to keep the friends that we have? This point that was made by TMZ is a complete radical idea. We are still people just like everyone else. I live in a small city and I have no other option then to go to the local resturants. Do I order meat? No. I don't even know why these people waste time. The only real fans that TMZ has are idiots and morons. PETA member for life

100. This story is such crap. There is no photo of Morrissey at STK, and Morrissey has denied being there. Once again another lame attempt to detract from the animal rights movement. Shame on you TMZ for lying!!!!

102. where are the photos I need a photo of him cutting into a big huge steak

103. Morrissey was eating at the Belmont nextdoor. You can play this game of spot the hypocrisy with any and every group of people with shared beliefs. The best anyone can hope for from anyone is that they try to live by their beliefs, to the best of their ability. That said, I don't think an animal rights group should be defending eateries with the word steakhouse in their name. DUH.
