16. There are a lot of insurance agents who DON'T scam the elderly and this program was about Equity Index Annuities, not insurance. This was a bazaar thing to see on TMZ but the show was ridiculous. Yes, some agents don't disclose fees and surrender charges, but most do. Would have been interesting to see a couple of the ones they edited out!

21. I Agree with you Harvey, Chris Hanson is a total idiot! EVERYONE NEEDS INSURANCE!
If you are unable to read the policy before you buy it, get someone who can!
I , myself bought a house when I was 19, 2 Family, Rented the other floor, after 10 years had major renovation work done.
I imformed my new tenant the she must buy her own renters insurance when she moved in, Unfortunatly , 6 months later we had a really bad fire, I lost close to 100.000. At the time I had a 10 year old, 22 months , and newborn. I really lost everything, and thank god for Insurance, because I would have been homeless. When I recieved the money, I did give her 20,000, out of the goodness of my heart, she would have been left with nothing because she did not buy Insurance.
Chris Hanson.............you are a J...K A........................ss

22. I guess you people missed the point altogether on this one, there is fraud against the elderly all of the time, Chris is just exposing it.......nothing wrong with that!!!

24. Chris Hanson is definitely doing a great job. We hear all the time about elderly people being taken advantage of when it comes to insurance, or for that fact just about anything that involves money; (home repairs, car repairs, relatives (taking advantage when Grandma or Grandpa are getiing older and have some sort of dementia or God forbid Alzheimer's)

That's a show I would like to see, Chris sitting down with Joe Blow who keep's milking his older parent's because they can't remember anything. This same thing happened to my Grandmother and her greedy, immoral Granddaughter.
I ending up ending that little *itch's game.

It make's me sick.

Come on TMZ, don't make fun of these scams. Harvey, your an attorney you know what is going on out here in the
" real world".

25. It is amazing how people will take a broadcast on face value without "investigating" for THEMSELVES. How many out there who are responding to this even know what an Annuity is, or have one? By the responses I'm guessing not many.
To sell an annuity you must be state licensed and comply with the rules and regulations set forth by that state. The Annuity contract provides to the buyer what the terms of surrender are, interest, etc. READ FOLKS . Knowledge is POWER. Millions of people have a secure retirement made possible by annuity products. The difference is they understood what they were buying and how it worked. By the way, this advice applies to buying a computer, car, pocket fisherman, thighmaster, etc.

26. I think it's a great idea. Ralph Nader would be proud. He should go after cell phones, cable TV subscriptions and mortgage companies next.

27. Oh, the irony; TMZ pronouncing edicts regarding Dateline's content newsworthiness? Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...that's why I love ya - for your chutzpah alone.

28. Chris Hansen is using an old sweep moth tactic and in my view is getting stale. He sets up sting operations then makes his money embarrassing people on television. Its good for ratings but enough is enough. He's done some good but one day the network NBC will be sued big time and that will be that. He's a one trick pony.

29. I worked for a company that sold these "products" and got out as quick as possible once I found out the real deal. They are evil people posing as helpful individuals. It’s a huge problem. Most of these companies that offer these annuities push the agents to sell them with the promise of high commissions. Each states Attn General needs to regulate and check into “Free Dinner Seminar”.
And in response to M yes not all financial advisors are bad. I have been in the business for 8 years. But peoples need to look into who they are using as a financial advisor, just like they would check on a doctor for a second opinion. It’s just as important.

30. I would like to see TMZ post a story about something TMZ has done to improve society.
