Brit Takes It In the End

The commissioner in the Britney Spears conservatorship case has just ordered that a sh*tload of fees be paid to various lawyers in the case -- and Brit, of course, will foot the bill.
Britney Spears/Click to launch documents!
The Commish has ordered that court-appointed lawyer Sam Ingham can get up to $10,000 a week through July 31. What the hell is wrong with hiring Jacoby and Meyers?

But that's just the beginning. Andrew Wallet, a co-conservator, just got the green light for up to $100,000. And the Luce Forward law firm will get up to $175,000, and that's just for their work through March 31.

Clark Byam, another attorney, will get $22,500. Stacy Phillips, the lawyer repping Brit in the family law case, will get up to $75,000 for work through March 31.

And Brit pays it all. Ding dang, y'all. Where's Shakespeare when ya need him?

241. Brave New World ... I'm guessing that she and her friends decided to drive to the wrestling meets instead of riding on the bus with the team. She was manager of the team, and the Vikings traveled to Prescott, Cottonwood, Payson, and other northern locations.

Don't know how old you are (and this will carbon date me), but do you remember when Fountain Hills was new and a loooonnnnggg way out of town? So was Cave Creek. Tubing on the Salt River was the big teen activity (still is). Slide Rock. Jerome. Going up to the lookout halfway up Mount Lemmon after UA football games, with an ice chest full of beer. and wine coolers. Drinking parties in Saguaro National Monument west of Tucson. Fond memories!!!

242. Well, I'm probably a bit older than you, lawdawg. I graduated high school in 1969 in Phoenix. But yes, I remember most of those activities, although I recall the tubing to be on the Verde. We didn't hang out in the Tucson area much, and we wouldn't have been caught dead having anything to do with UofA, given that Phoenix was pro-ASU.

I do remember when Fountain Hills was built, and when there was a huge stretch of desert between Scottsdale and Cave Creek. Bell Road was out in the middle of nowhere.

My favorite steakhouse was Pinnacle Peak Patio, and after going for miles through the desert on Scottsdale Road, you then had to drive for a couple more miles on a dirt road through the desert in order to get there. They wouldn't let you wear a tie and they'd cut it off, and so people purposely wore their old ties so they could be snipped off and hung from the ceiling. There seemed to be thousands of ties hanging there. And if you ordered a well-done steak there, they'd bring you an old cowboy boot.

I also remember that you had to drive up Grand Avenue to Wickenburg before you could catch the freeway to L.A., because the city fathers kept dawdling on the construction of the Brenda Cutoff for years (decades?).

Also, did you realize that the very first McDonald's that used the "Golden Arches" theme was on the corner of Central and Indian School? I remember eating there. There were other McDonald's before then in other parts of the country, but not with that theme.

(I'm trying to remember if there was a high school at the time I lived there with the Vikings as their team name. I don't recall. I went to Arcadia.)

Sorry folks, I know this doesn't have anything to do with Britney. I wonder how we can relate this to her ... ???

243. I know Britney likes steak and fast food...so the MacDonalds stat is fair game!!!!!!! hahaahah

244. Brave New World .. remember the old West High School at 19th Ave and Thomas? I attended WHS for freshman and sophomore years (on the debate team, Brophy and Camelback dominated those). Then my family built a home in North Central, so I transferred to Sunnyslope. Class of 1973. About a decade ago I had a client, can't remember her name, but a wonderful elderly lady who taught German at Arcadia for something like 30 years -- the 1950s through 1980s She reminisced about her family escaping German on one of last boats, through Italy I believe, when she was a girl. Speaking of McDonald's, or something like it, remember the Carnation Ice Cream store on the northwest corner of Indian School and Central?

jr ... Unfortunately, the original McDonald's in Phoenix gave way to higher and better land use, but if Brit visits this city again there are lots of Taco Bells , In-N-Out, and Carl's Jr. (ugh!) Maybe that group starting a fund for Britney's expenses can open an account for her.

245. See, we're back to blogging about Britney!!!!!

246. Hi again, lawdawg. Was the German teacher named "Frau Reiss" by any chance? If so, she was _my_ German teacher at Arcadia! Actually, I think she left Arcadia in 1967 or something like that, and then went on to teach somewhere else. She used to tell us stories of how the economy was collapsing in Germany before Hitler took over, and how people had to bring a wheelbarrow of German Marks to the store just to buy a loaf of bread. She was a very sweet lady.

Yes, I know West High and Brophy and Camelback. I wasn't too familiar with Sunnyslope High, but I knew it existed.

Brophy was the boys' Catholic High School and St. Xavier was the girls' Catholic High School nearby. In the 1960's, lots of guys I knew in Phoenix seemed to believe that if you wanted to get some action, all you had to do was pick up one of the girls in a Catholic uniform who was hitchhiking in front of St. Xavier. I never checked that out. (That was before the counterculture and Free Love hit Phoenix).

Hmm ... maybe we can relate _that_ to Britney in some way ...

Anyway, it's great strolling down memory lane with you, lawdawg!

247.
And hi again to you, Brave New World. Yes! That must be the same Mrs. Reiss. Sad to say, she passed away in 1998. I had drafted her will and then handled the probate. She was sharp witted right to the very end. For every question I asked, she shot one right back! Had an incredible memory for someone who was 90 years old. She never had children of her own, told me that her students were her children. I think she also spoke French.

Anyway, back to the subject of the TMZ article, Britney. News about her is slow, but I take that as a good sign.

248. The Bear is correct!!! True fans that supported Britney by buying CD'S and going to concerts need to open their wallets. Talking about the subject is just blowing around a lot of hot air!!!!!

249. Thanks for the info, lawdawg. I have many fond memories of Frau Reiss, may she rest in peace.

Back to Britney, it seems like TMZ and other outlets have been scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with news about her, and I agree that this is definitely a good sign. Jamie and the other conservators are doing their jobs well in keeping the paparazzi away, and in minimizing her antics.

I only hope that Britney is learning something, and that when the conservatorship ends, she doesn't fall back on her old ways.

You don't like brit so much quit posting your stupid ignorant comments and read a book jerks. LUV BRITNEY KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!!!!

shonnia, dear. what in heaven's name are you ranting about? Who is "they" and how are "they" using Britney? And to whom are you referring to when you complain about"everybody" who makes "stupid ignorant comments"? You need to be more clear about who and what it is you believe is wrong. Your post makes no sense, at least not within the context of TMZ's story.

251. To Lisa and the rest of you who truly care about Britney, and who think that the commissioner shouldn't have allowed the lawyers to charge so much: you should band together and obtain your own lawyer to fight this. Posting a complaint on a celebrity-gossip site like TMZ will have absolutely _no_ effect on the amount that Britney's estate is being charged for legal fees, or on how Britney is being treated.

Actually, people who claim to be lawyers have posted here and have stated their opinion that the conservatorship is somehow not legal. I'm sure that one of these supposed lawyers who has been so eloquent in attacking the conservatorship would be happy to work for free in order to fight for these principles of justice and to protect Britney. After all, if such a lawyer really believed that the commissioner is acting illegally and that justice is being subverted in the way the conservatorship is being managed, this lawyer would just be a hypocritical blowhard if she or he wanted to do nothing more than spout off here and then disappear.

And we know that these alleged lawyers who posted here couldn't possibly be hypocritical blowhards, so it should be easy for you folks who think that Britney is being mistreated to find someone among the posters here who will represent you and fight the way this conservatorship is being handled.

So to those of you who care about Britney, I say that you should join together with others who feel the same way and _do_ something to try to rescue her, instead of just posting useless complaints here. I mean, you folks do actually _care_ about Britney's well being, right?

252. After posting my previous message, it occurred to me that I might be able to make things a little easier for those of you who think that Britney is being mistreated. As you know, I suggested that you find a lawyer who will represent you in fighting against the conservatorship. Well, it turns out that such a lawyer already exists!!!

His name is Jon Eardley, and as luck would have it, he has _already_ filed a couple of claims in court, challenging Britney's conservatorship. Can you believe this fortunate coincidence?!!!

Mr. Eardley hasn't filed any claims in the past several weeks, but I'm sure that this is simply because he feels that he is unsupported and unappreciated, a lone, plaintive voice in the wilderness. But if you folks join together and then go en masse to Mr. Eardley, I'm sure that this collective outpouring of support for Britney will bring him out of his doldrums. He will no longer feel like a Don Quixote tilting against windmills, and he'll once again get back to being the Knight Errant For Justice that he truly is ... especially if all of you I-hate-the-conservatorship people show Eardley the depth of your financial commitment to Britney.

To make it still easier for you people, I've made the effort to find the contact information for this selfless champion of justice:

Jon Eardley, Esq (CA Bar No. 132577)
LAW OFFICES OF JON EARDLEY
16020 Puesta Del Sol

253. You know some of you people are so stupid, mental illness makes you do off the wall things sometimes. You all are stuck on Britney Spears so much you have nothing else better to do? Grow up and do your homework...she is like the rest of us! Yes she is the spotlight, you see what everyone does on the everyday timeline. You eat, exercise, get pissed at people and the list goes on! We see it with her because she is in the spot light, and the rest of you no because your not! Until you walked in her (their) shoes shut the hell up and mind your own..Sweep under your doorstep first before you judge others, because your life may not actually be any different! Don't feel like reading any assinin entries, so I won't ! Don't bother wasting your time making idiotic comments, cause I don't have the time or patience for stupid people that want to judge people when they only read gossip and don't want to take the time to understand from all points of veiws!! For all of the others folks, have a good one..

254. PS to lawdawg: I'm not referring to you. I know that you're a real lawyer with integity. I was talking about those other alleged lawyers who have been posting here and contending that the conservatorship is illegal. I know that you don't believe that.

Posted at 8:34PM on Apr 22nd 2008 by qwerty

255. qwerty ... Your posting addresses the complaints head on. Perhaps Mr. Eardley simply needs some financial assistance with costs of litigation. As it is, by lucky coincidence, his legal services are being offered pro bono, so the costs that Lisa and others will be supporting are limited to filing fees, photocopying, faxes, Westlaw research charges, exhibition preparation, mileage to and from the courthouse, parking, and, of course, appropriate compensation for his mouthpiece, er, press agent, Michael what's-his-face whose job is apparently to poison the public well.

While the hat is being passed, a collection should be taken up for the costs that will be incurred by the conservatorship attorneys which, as we know, would otherwise be borne by Britney's estate. Wouldn't be fair for her to pay both for the attack on the conservatorship and defend of it, now would it?

Oh, and there is that kickback fund for the commissioner, to ensure that justice will finally be served.

Let's bring back Howard Grossman. He can serve as trustee for the Britney Defense Fund. Perhaps we can get 501(c) status, so donations will be tax deductible.
