Celebrity Justice
Brit Takes It In the End

The commissioner in the Britney Spears conservatorship case has just ordered that a sh*tload of fees be paid to various lawyers in the case -- and Brit, of course, will foot the bill.

The Commish has ordered that court-appointed lawyer Sam Ingham can get up to $10,000 a week through July 31. What the hell is wrong with hiring Jacoby and Meyers?

But that's just the beginning. Andrew Wallet, a co-conservator, just got the green light for up to $100,000. And the Luce Forward law firm will get up to $175,000, and that's just for their work through March 31.

Clark Byam, another attorney, will get $22,500. Stacy Phillips, the lawyer repping Brit in the family law case, will get up to $75,000 for work through March 31.

And Brit pays it all. Ding dang, y'all. Where's Shakespeare when ya need him?

256. In Britney's case, "exhibitionist" is even better.

257. All those Lawyers and she still lost her children. Kevin is just as pathetic but he happens to be more slick about what he does. Kevin is a leach. Brit got sloppy. Kevin should have to pay all of his own legal fees and Brit should consider a different set of attorneys next time. They sis a piss poor job for that kind of money.

258. To E (currently msg #257): blame Kevin. Blame Britney's lawyers. Blame anyone and everyone, but never blame Britney, herself. She must always remain a spoiled princess who never has to deal with the consequences of her own childish actions and stupid choices. She should be able to do whatever she wants whenever she wants to do it. She must remain totally irresponsible for the rest of her life. And finally, other people should always be the ones to clean up the messes she leaves behind her.

That's the position that you and many other people seem to be taking here.

Pay attention to facts and reality for a change:

Britney blew off one court appearance after the other. She refused to follow court orders. And she didn't follow the advice of her own lawyers. If she had done these things, she never would have lost custody of her children.

Getting her different lawyers wouldn't have made a bit of difference, because Britney wouldn't have followed _their_ advice, either, and she would have blown it just the same.

And have you forgotten that Britney's current lawyers have managed to successfully get visitation rights for Britney, even after those past debacles on her part? Jamie is forcing Britney to do what her lawyers are recommending, and now she is able to be with her children again. It looks to me that her lawyers are now _helping_ her, now that she's not able to sabotage their efforts.

Also Britney _agreed_ to the terms of the divorce with Kevin, including the amount of money that he's receiving. Her own lawyers didn't somehow force her or trick her into accepting those terms. Are you saying that she should be able to go back on her legal commitments any time she feels like it?

In divorce proceedings, if one party has a significantly higher income than the other, it's common that the court will stipulate that the richer one pay the legal fees of the poorer one. This is done so that the one with more money can't engage in expensive legal maneuvers in order to force the other one to accept a bad settlement. This levels the playing field and makes for fairer settlments.

It is also common in divorce proceedings that the richer party ends up paying more of the child-support costs. This is done for similar reasons, and also, in order that the children don't suffer.

There's nothing special about Britney's case with regard to these stipulations.

Check with a divorce lawyer if you don't believe me.

Finally, keep in mind that it's _Britney_ who filed for divorce, not the other way around.

It never ceases to amaze me how many of you people take the position of "don't confuse me with logic or reality; I've already made up my mind."

What, in heaven's name, are you ranting about? Who's "everyone" that are allegedly quick to judge? And judge what?

Oh, and get a freaking dictionary and learn spelling and syntax. Punctuation, too, while you're at it. "dam" = damn. "thier" = their. "to" = too. "someone's else's" = someone else's. Better yet, just go back to third grade.

262. You sound a little bit bitter, carolyn, because someone in the world isn't blindly supporting Britney in her attempts to remain a totally irresponsible 9-year-old for the rest of her life.

The commissioner is forcing Britney (or more precisely, her estate) to pay for cleaning up the multi-million dollar trail of destruction that Britney has left in her wake. I know that you would love for Britney to never have to deal with the consequences of any of her childish choices and immature actions, and for someone else in the world to always have to pay to keep her in her totally oblivious world as a Spoiled Princess. So why don't you dig into your own wallet to pay to clean up Britney's messes and to allow her to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants to do it, without ever having to pay a cent?

If you truly love Britney, it's imperative that you give her lots of hard cash in order to support her Irresponsible Princess life style instead of just spouting off some empty words on this web site.

Money talks, BS walks, carolyn.
