Brit Takes It In the End

The commissioner in the Britney Spears conservatorship case has just ordered that a sh*tload of fees be paid to various lawyers in the case -- and Brit, of course, will foot the bill.
Britney Spears/Click to launch documents!
The Commish has ordered that court-appointed lawyer Sam Ingham can get up to $10,000 a week through July 31. What the hell is wrong with hiring Jacoby and Meyers?

But that's just the beginning. Andrew Wallet, a co-conservator, just got the green light for up to $100,000. And the Luce Forward law firm will get up to $175,000, and that's just for their work through March 31.

Clark Byam, another attorney, will get $22,500. Stacy Phillips, the lawyer repping Brit in the family law case, will get up to $75,000 for work through March 31.

And Brit pays it all. Ding dang, y'all. Where's Shakespeare when ya need him?

61. I don't care what she's done, it is wrong for the commissioner to grant this outrageous amount of money. I agree with Lawyers ?? this is extortion.

62. QUIT BITCHING ABOUT HER BILLS. She hired the most expensive law team in LA..its her own damn fault. Not to mention its 100% her fault she is in this mess to begin with. She should ahve thought of this when she was spending 100k per month on HOTELS and CARS.

63. ...well I sure hope it all turns out in the end !! , if u asked me 4 months ago I wouldn't have bet that she would even be alive...money is the root of all evil. I just can't imagine her on her own...she should hire her father full time once he loses custody of her...which is basically what he has now!!!!!!

64. 61. At this rate she will be sharing an apartment with Michael Jackson and Bobby Brown, ex-singers broke on their ass.

yep...and her hillbilly pa will be iving in a mansion.

Y'all notice how he's upgraded himself to a brand new cadillac SUV and charging it to Brit.

And he's signing contracts for her to appear on tv, get an agent etc, but maintains and the crazy commish seems to agree, that she is still "gravely disabled" and so bad she's still not fit to speak to a lawyer of her choosing. How can this happen in the USA??? Why isn't anybody doing anything about this? Pa will send her bankrupt in no time, and will disappear when she can't pay him anymore. Unbelievable that he's seeking to be made permanent conservator. The Commish is a loony bitch who clearly ought to allow Brit to instruct a lawyer to represent her interests...clearly this court appointed guy is more interested in his pay than he is his client...I'd be up there screaming at the Court and the press that if pa thought she was well enough to be entering these contracts, she is well enough to speak to a lawyer of her choosing.

65. When there is no reprimand for Judges, there's no protection for us citizens. I bet the Judge is finding a way to pocket some of her cash as well.

*************************

Hi there, laughing. Lawdawg here (before SHE heads home from the office). Without the benefit of looking at the time entries on the invoices, there really is no way to know what each of the attorneys spent time on and whether the charges are reasonable, outrageous, or somewhere in between. I will offert he following observation, however: Britney's estate is complex, consisting of lots of corporate entities and a number of contracts that give her the right to royalties for record sales, radio airtime of her music, perfume sales, etc. So there is a lot of management involved, and that is what Wallet does, with Ingham's input. A conservatorship involves a great deal more than simply going to court. Therefore, I don't know how anyone can attack the fee without knowing precisely what services were rendered by the professionals over the two-month period covered by this Order.

I look at it this way. Add up all the fees that were approved for the professionals involved in the conservatorship and trust (I'm not counting Stacy Phillips, because Britney would have paid for a family lawyer in any event), and throw in the $2500 per week that Jamie gets. Divide by the number of weeks between February 1 and March 31 (nine weeks), and the amount is roughly the same as what Britney spent for "entertainment" and travel before her spending was brought under control. By my way of figuring, that means the conservatorship is paying for itself. All the other savings that are being achieved -- and getting Britney back to good health and vistation with her kids resumed -- are the icing on the cake. If I had her wealth, I would consider it a pretty good bargain.

67. Her Daddy & Mama are using her . She not crazy he just want her money along with his attorney and they will make sure she is deem " gravely disable" to continue getting cash from her. This girl will be broke in no time ,but she look for her own problems now she is paying the price she will not get any thing beside vist with her kids now that she is deem as someone who is unable to take care of their basic need. There are lot of people in wrose shape than Britney and they do not need conservator. Jamie is pimping his so call "gravely disable" child yett he got her working.

Hire him for what? To waste more of her money? Don't you get it, he's spending it quicker than it's coming in...you must rermember, of the $700k/month she makes, 1/2 goes to tax, big chunk to kevin and the kids, tens of thousands, perhaps more for accountants, business managers, assistants, security guards for her daily outings (dad obviously likes to see her exploited daily), home expenses, rent, nannies, car, homes etc etc.

Dad's got her out pimping herself now for a few f...in free t-shirts & hats...when will this greedy monster stop?

69. lawdawg...Excellent summation!! hahahha...plus Pa Spears got rid of all the cars, insurance and leeches , imagine the amount of $ Lufti scammed from her.

70. #69.." ur name is too long sorry" hahaha...anyways, the majority of expensises u listed she had going anyways..Pa Spears has literally saved her life...for now anyways....if Pa get $2500/wk...that is NOTHING compared to what Lufti and her "business manager" where scamming out of her...nobody will ever know until internal audits r done and even then...Lufti won't be detected....she is being medically supervised and her dad is protecting her on so many levels now...he couldn't get near her until she hit her rock bottom...if and when he loses conservatorship , and he should eventually if she is following her med regime....she will fall right off the tracks the second he isn't over seeing everything...100%...Lufti or other parasites will be panting to get into her life, small price to pay to keep Pa around to secure her best interests...let Rudolph do the career thing, more important , make sure she keeps her med sched and app't and only her father at this point can guarantee that.

71. Curious where everyone is getting the idea that it was contended that Britney is "gravely disabled." If you don't the basis for court declaring the conservatorship, don't speculate and for goodness sake, don't just fabricate it. There is no requirement under California law that a person be "gravely disabled," so lose that term, please. The California Probate Code, section 1801 provides:

1801. Subject to Section 1800.3:
(a) A conservator of the person may be appointed for a person who is unable to provide properly for his or her personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter ... .
(b) A conservator of the estate may be appointed for a person who is substantially unable to manage his or her own financial resources or resist fraud or undue influence ... .

It apears to me that Jamie Spears was appointed conservator over the person of Britney because she was unable to care for her health. She wasn't getting treatment, she was being fed drugs by Sam Lutfi, she was admitted twice within a month to the hospital for mental health concerns. That is the basis under 1801(a). The conservatorship over her estate, which is governed by 1801(b) was necessary because she was not managing her wealth and was unable to resist fraud (Exhibit A: Sam Lutfi). Reports, if true, were that Lutfi was ordering up $3000 per day from Brit's business manager. At that rate, Brit was being taken advantage of by Sammy boy (and who knows who else) at a rate far greater than the attorneys' fees she is being charged for the last 60 days to get her affairs back in order.

72. Brit is getting screwed. This is appalling. K-FED is a bum. He has no talent and no income. He needs to be flipping burgers. What a loser! All of these overpaid lawyers should be getting this matter moved to a different venue with a fair commissioner. Good luck Brit!!!!

73. I'm so so out of my depth...I'm not really a lawyer, but so many of you sheep follow me...it's cool...u r so gullible...I am so dumb & you think I'm smart....lol. Call me pa spears...I just love that man.

74. When I first read the item I, too, was outraged by the amount of money the various lawyers were getting. However, Lawdawg's explanation put things in perspective and I'm not so sure anymore. I think this is another case of TMZ making the story as provocative as possible (surprise, surprise).
