Celebrity Justice
Sandra Bullock Whacked in Mass

Sandra Bullock and her husband, Jesse James, were hit by a drunken driver last night in Gloucester, MA.

They were being driven to their hotel in Eastern Point at around 11 PM when a gray Subaru station wagon jumped lanes and smashed into their front end, police said. The Boston Herald first broke the story.

The culprit, 64-year-old Lucille Gatchell, was busted and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor -- in our world, that's DUI. She blew 2 1/2 times the legal limit. She was also charged with a Mark Twain violation, which means crossing the white line.

No one was hurt.

19. Our state is a beautiful place to film but we do have America's worst drivers, no one else comes close. If you like driving in a third-world country, you will LOVE cruising around the Cradle of Liberty.

25. Mass residents are wack, mostly drunks and druggies. I've lived on islands and 3rd world countries, and they come close to the worst drivers. Thrown in some Rotaries and some alcholic beverages and you have yourself a party.
I work on Cape Cod. Beautiful as hell, but the people are crazy and rude.

29. Why do people still insist on driving drunk? I just don't get it. Innocent people are getting killed daily because of others lack of self-control.

30. Sorry but Massachusetts does not have an exclusive on bad driving or drunks. Most of us up here drive safe and sober. I'm trying but I can't think of anyone I know personally who has ever driven while drunk or drugged. Unfortunately the courts are too lenient on drunk drivers and can't seem to keep them from getting behind the wheel of a car. There are a ridiculous number of reports here of people getting arrested for their 10th or even 20th OUI and driving without a license or on a suspended one. It's the number of repeat offenders who make it so dangerous.
I was wondering about the "Mark Twain" offense myself since I'd never heard it called that. The confusion with Marked Lanes is ridiculous. Even with a boston accent the two phrases sound nothing alike. How do you get a "w" sound from an "l"? I think the TMZ staffer who wrote this was the one who was on drugs.

Go Sox
