Celebrity Justice
Sandra Bullock Whacked in Mass

Sandra Bullock and her husband, Jesse James, were hit by a drunken driver last night in Gloucester, MA.

They were being driven to their hotel in Eastern Point at around 11 PM when a gray Subaru station wagon jumped lanes and smashed into their front end, police said. The Boston Herald first broke the story.

The culprit, 64-year-old Lucille Gatchell, was busted and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor -- in our world, that's DUI. She blew 2 1/2 times the legal limit. She was also charged with a Mark Twain violation, which means crossing the white line.

No one was hurt.

31. I was born and raised in Gloucester, MA. I was very happy living there - it is a beautiful place. Drugs/Alcohol are everywhere - Gloucester is no exception. It does not make this City any different than any other on the face of a United States Map. In recent years it seems as though more and more people are moving to the area and they are not the type of people who were born and raised here. I find that the 'natives' are the least of the worries in this little town - it's the 'outsiders' moved to it that are the bigger problems. Low income being the biggest problem. Rockport, MA is a 'dry town' - they have no alcohol, no bar rooms - the "Rockport-ers" come to Gloucester to have their fun - so you cannot say that "Gloucester-ites" are the drunks/druggies! Living on an island with only two way's off causes many of the older natives to 'never go o'er the bridge - but many from 'outside' come o'er for sure! Don't blame it on the City - people drink, people do drugs - EVERYWHERE - to claim or blame otherwise is unrealistic. Gloucester has a lot to offer - and it is aparent with so many movie producers filming in the area - let alone the many tourists and other wonderful things that happen to catch interests. I am happy to hear Sandra and Jessee were not harmed by this incident, yet saddened that alcohol was the factor - but lighten up people....hypocritical comments such as the likes written in here - really are rediculous as well as typical to minimal education and ignorance!

32. I was wrong. I do know someone who used to drive drugged, my ex-brother-in-law, but he was from Syracuse, New York and moved down to Virginia after the divorce so I don't think Massachusetts can be held accountable for him.

36. FlBiker, now that's just downright mean.

Kelli, she looks like she's been rode hard and put away wet. Older than her years would imply. Not surprising she doesn't look happy. Who does in a mug shot?

37. They certainly dodged a bullet. This woman is old enough (and then some) to know better. I know people who lose their licenses to DUI or other multiple infractions but continue to drive as though suspended license just doesn't apply to them. There are not enough law enforcement people to follow the drunks around 24/7. Family and friends need to monitor and report these people for their own sake if necessary, so they don't end up killing someone else and end up in jail for years for vehicular homicide.

40. Parts of Gloucester are pretty, but much of Gloucester is filled with backwards drunks and druggies, and their children having illegitimate children

It's a hole

The cope are useless, the POLICE CHIEF assaulted another cop in the police station

The judge just lets people off if they commit a crime

It's only changing for the better because of new people moving in

Whatta dump!

44. Happy to say that I sat near Sandra, her husband, and colleague at dinner tonight at Alchemy restaurant in Gloucester. Unfortunately, an idiot woman from Hamilton, Mass. (yes, she was drunk, too), accosted them at their table and made a fool of herself. Jesse was a true gentleman and politely (and frequently) asked her to leave them alone, but she eventually had to be escorted away by the restaurant's owner.

Sandra and Jesse looked fine after Friday night's accident. We hope they don't take tonight's unfortunate incident and Friday's car accident as omens for their stay in Gloucester. Gloucester is delighted to have them visiting while filming Sandra's latest movie. It's just disappointing that they had to meet two women in the course of two days who are so bent on booze.

In any case, I'll add that Sandra is just as pretty in person as she looks on film. And awfully kind and polite, too.
