Dave Navarro has made out with women, men and even Tommy Lee, but the gender and species of his latest suck fest is unclear.

While backstage at his Miami concert, the 40-year-old tatted up muscled musician swapped spit with a "dancer" of unknown origin.

TMZ finally has a good question for Dave: What were you kissing?!

49. NOT a tranny... it's a girl, and she's a great person. And just because someone decides to dress- or paint, in this case- in an alternative style, doesn't make them any less human. She's nicer than any girl I ever knew in college - all those pretty, popular but very shallow sorority girls. Just goes to prove how judgmental our society is.

57. As flattered as I am to be on such a socially cold and unforgiving website; it lays heavy on my heart that the worst picture ever taken of me is the one the media will remeber. I've spent a good portion of my time creating enticing and often breathetaking imagery; and this is what irrevocably decides whether or not i am attractive? Whether or not i am a woman or a man? or at least a good tranny. how sweet; how contrite. How afflicted and annoyed it must be to be chased around by pseudo photographers waiting to snap a glimpse of a life deemed more interesting than their own. If it had been a flattering photo of me or any other seemingly attractive woman/man; not coated in half rubbed off day old bodypaint that had been danced and sweated in for soo many hours...would it have been news? Never
