The "Suite Life" star just filed suit in L.A. Superior Court against Vibe Media, claiming that the company "illegally and shamelessly" lifted a photo of her to advertise their bimbo biz. She's looking for $100,000 in damages -- now that's an expensive ad.

Just last week, TMZ first uncovered the saucy ad, published in the L.A. Weekly. In a statement to TMZ, Song says, "In filing suit, I hope to prevent this company from doing this again to anyone else."

38. something like that could hurt her contract with disney. $100,000 is smart. I felt it was greedy at first glance but thinking about it some more, and and based on my past experience of working for disney myself, it truly is justified.

39. This is kind of related and interesting (I hope). One of the popular
Instant coffee companies used a guys image for close to
twenty years without his permission He got several million dollars
when he discovered his picture was being used without
his permission. He must not of had any friends or relatives
because it was a popular brand sold in every grocery store
in the U.S. and the picture was pretty prominent.

44. Special charges should be added if the picture of Brenda was taken before she turned eighteen as this image was used to entice clients that their was a possibility that a possessor of the paper could have sex with her.

45. Get a grip, folks. She's able to take them to court because she has enough money to deal with it. Other people they've certainly done this to just couldn't manage the hassle. She can, it does have an impact on her job prospects, and it's good that she's doing it. I imagine the amount was decided based on the deterrent factor needed, unless there are legal guidelines about it.

They must not have known she was famous enough to be recognized! She's not even Hawaiian -- one parent is Hmong, the other is Thai (of the sort culturally close to Hmong). She talked about her family roots in little interludes on the Disney Channel when the Wendy Wu tv movie was being promoted. She's actually pretty easy to listen to - Disney is using her to host their "Pass the Plate" interludes now, where they showcase a particular food (e.g., bananas, mangos, rice) as used in different countries. In Wendy Wu (an interesting movie, by the way, although probably a bit over the heads of the younger crowd), she did a lot of her own stunts - she has some sort of martial arts training.
