Micky Mantle...David Crosby...Papa John Phillips...ALL WELL KNOWN DRUNKS OR DRUGGIES..get new LIVERS because they are so SPECIAL. While regular people die on the transplant list. Makes me want to PROJECTILE VOMIT!!!!!!

OK, it angered me that Mickey Mantle, David Crosby and Larry Hagman got livers after destroying the ones they had at birth, but as a nurse, I knew there *had* to be more to the story.

I asked a doc friend of mine, who told me that these guys got livers because they had money...to *afford* the surgery! Most people can't, (or their insurance won't cover it) so they get bypassed, and yes, they die. There just too many things that have to line up perfectly, in order to be a candidate for organ transplant. Money's the biggest factor, but the recipient has to be compatible with the surgery in every single way.

Having said that though, I don't think *anyone* who abused their liver should get another one. Period. Yes, we all make mistakes, but others shouldn't have to suffer for our weakness.

I heard that Larry Hagman burned down a bunch of buildings at the collage he had been kicked out of (Bard College in New York State in the early '60's) - and while the FBI - quickly figured out - he was the arsonist - his mother kept him from being prosecuted!!! Anyone else heard about that? My name is Joel Cymrot.

My first home had Larry Hagman's floor tile in the main bathroom. The carpenter's friend had left-over stock from Hagman's NYC apartment. I often wondered if we could see the same "hidden pictures" within the marble lines.
