Disney Bites the Photog that Feeds It

Ever since Mileygate broke yesterday, Disney's been pissing on Annie Leibovitz and her shoot with Miley for Vanity Fair -- at the same time that Annie's been on the Mouse payroll for a couple years now doing their fancy "Dream Portrait" series.

Leibovitz has enlisted everyone from a (very young) Abigail Breslin to Julie Andrews, David Beckham and Beyonce to pose for her in the big-budget shots, designed after Disney stories. But when it came to their biggest and most bankable star, MiCy, all of a sudden they got collective corporate amnesia?

Disney said Annie "manipulated" the situation with Miley.

181. Wow, this is so typical American. A bit of skin and everyone gets a heart attack. Come on! The girl is not even naked! You see her back. Her back!!!! Annie Liebowitz is a genius. Her photography is pure art and anyone who thinks this photos are vulgar or sexual is either blind or should enter a convent or monastery! Disney included!

182. Chid abuse and child pornography are neither professional nor kind. And, taking photos of minors in sexually provocative poses is most decidedly not walking a fine line but rather is criminal, as Annie and Vanity Fair may soon find out.

... or not. Is anyone up for a little friendly wager? I'll bet $100 that Annie Liebowitz and Vanity Fair don't even come close to getting prosecuted for this.

You might believe that they _should_ get prosecuted, and that's your right. However, my bet is about what really will happen in the real world.

No, it's the child's parents' fault. They knew what kind of pictures this photographer likes to take, and they knew what kinds of features appear in Vanity Fair. They gladly agreed to the photo shoot, nonetheless. And they participated in the shoot, even to the point of allowing the eroticized Miley-Daddy photos to be taken.

186. Oh come on! This smelled of "publicity" from the very first minute. The dad may be a has been, but he's not stupid. He knew what his fifteen year old was doing, and so did the photographer. This whole "I'm embarrassed about it" is just another made up piece of manipulation being thrown at a gullible public. My God, when are we going to stop falling for this crap?

187. I'd like someone to interview Miley's grandmother and teacher, both of whom were indeed present when the backless photo was being taken. And there were supposedly other Miley minders there at the time, so I hope someone gets one or more of them to talk, as well.

If any of them thought the photo was inappropriate, why didn't they intervene?

And didn't any of them talk to Miley's parents, describing the other scenes that were shot after they left?

My contention is that Miley's parents found out about the "racy" shots from grandma and the other handlers, and had no problem with them at all ... until Disney raised a stink about it and they had to backtrack and cover their a**es by making public statements in which they are acting shocked and indignant.

I would add that Miley's parents dropped the ball big-time by leaving before the photo shoot was completed.

They willingly and, seemingly, gladly left their daughter in the hands of a photographer who is known world-wide for decades to have shot nude, semi-nude, and other erotic images of many people, including celebrities. Furthermore, if you believe the statements that the the parents are currently making, they didn't even bother to look at the photos that Annie took of their 15-year-old daughter in their absence.

To me, this looks like a blatant case of parental neglect.

189. There are certain types of individuals that no mother should leave their daughters alone with. Hillary and Liebovitz come to mind. liebovitz manipulated the situation and she's a smooth con at the expense of others. Her history is vomit and her talent is overblown because she lacks the decency of class and professionalism,

Hillary? As in Clinton? Can see why someone might not vote for her, but a child molester? Some reason to fear that possibility even a well-informed voter might not have encountered?
