Disney Bites the Photog that Feeds It

Ever since Mileygate broke yesterday, Disney's been pissing on Annie Leibovitz and her shoot with Miley for Vanity Fair -- at the same time that Annie's been on the Mouse payroll for a couple years now doing their fancy "Dream Portrait" series.

Leibovitz has enlisted everyone from a (very young) Abigail Breslin to Julie Andrews, David Beckham and Beyonce to pose for her in the big-budget shots, designed after Disney stories. But when it came to their biggest and most bankable star, MiCy, all of a sudden they got collective corporate amnesia?

Disney said Annie "manipulated" the situation with Miley.

16. Annie is not totally to blame for Miley's discretions. She has put herself in this position before with photos that have been shown. Disney should drop her like a hot rock. She is hurting the wholesome disney image that Walt envisioned and strove for. She is a spoiled litle girl who does not even come close to the wholesomeness that disney stands for.

17. Also, I'm MUCH more offended by the photo of her w/her dad. It's extremely provacative and should be reserved for a man & woman in love.

Disney, ML & her handlers are all trying to backpeddle now that the world has spoken. To little to late!!!

19. So when will charges be filed against the culprits, or are they hiding behind the "Entertainment" clause....??

i.e. protected by wealth avoids the legal system....

20. I heard about the Miley thing on celebrity prayer list and Honestly, she didn't have to do it. Her parents could have stopped it. NO reason to blame the photog.

22. Leibowitz is a renown photographer. She does not need to manipulate, Cyrus does. Enough said.

23. Last night I saw a filmed account of some of the photo shoot. In particular the picture of Ms Cyrus and her Dad. The two of them, posing, looked very father / daughter . HOWEVER, when you see the picture, it's creep city. I think AL and her staff manipulate the color process to get a lot of the DRAMA in the picture. They had to. What was being filmed and the final picture were so different. And, I am old enough to know that AL is still considered a cache' name and people want to be photographed by her. Didn't anyone here see her pictures of the Queen of England? Lebowitz got canned for them in the UK. I think a lot of it has to do with the coloring processing.

24. I've always admire Annie Leibowitz. She's a great artist but she has lived in Manhatten too long obviously. This was the "only" pose she could think of for a 15-year CHILD???? That's right Annie. Girls at this age are still children. They will tell you they know it all but as you can see she and her parents are uneducated hicks who are ready to pimp out their children to whatever pedophiles come along. I would think Annie Leibowitz would have been a feminist. She obviously believes in tabloid journalism hiding behind her art. She knows what sells. Shame on her. And besides it is an ugly picture. The coloring and the whole idea. Artistically it was a really lazy and uninspiring photo shoot. I guess she was too busy thinking up new ideas for Disney's next ad campaign. And pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee will the Cyrus's get that girl's teeth and gums fixed. They are nasty looking. She won't be a star past 18 with that look. Gross!!!

27. These types of things are bound to happen when you have a hill-billy for a father. Good judgment is obviously not his strong suit.

28. This didn't work in Disney's favor. Miley's parents were at the shoot. Where was Disney??? They should have been protecting their biggest commodity. Don't blame Annie Leibowitz. She is an incredible photographer and artist. Vanity Fair is going to sell a hella copies of the issue.

29. If you read the full interview from Vanity Fair, you will see that it took place in a restaurant with Miley's mother and sister at the next table. Contrary to reports that her parents didn't know about the final topless shot,(grandma and her teacher were there and the parents had left the shoot) one will see that it just isn't true. During the interview, mom pipes in a couple of times, so she was very aware of what was being said. When Miley was asked about that topless shot she responded that she thought it was tastefully done and she thought it was 'pretty'. So mom heard that and one can assume she knew of that photo and said nothing at that time. So,after hearing the interview and signing off on those photos as parental guardians, there is no doubt they knew exactly what they were doing. Damage control is forthcoming, but don't be fooled. The parents have a meal ticket and are selling out their child. I have no respect for any of them.

30. What is with everyone sexualizing that photo of father/daughter? Gah. Get over it already!

The whole thing has been so blown out of proportion.
