Disney Bites the Photog that Feeds It

Ever since Mileygate broke yesterday, Disney's been pissing on Annie Leibovitz and her shoot with Miley for Vanity Fair -- at the same time that Annie's been on the Mouse payroll for a couple years now doing their fancy "Dream Portrait" series.

Leibovitz has enlisted everyone from a (very young) Abigail Breslin to Julie Andrews, David Beckham and Beyonce to pose for her in the big-budget shots, designed after Disney stories. But when it came to their biggest and most bankable star, MiCy, all of a sudden they got collective corporate amnesia?

Disney said Annie "manipulated" the situation with Miley.

61. Maybe you haven't heard that her parents left the shoot before Leibovitz enticed and cajoled Miley into doing 'ARTSY SHOTS." Perhaps you, Annie, and VF are unaware that 15 year old Miley cannot legally give "informed consent" for sexually provocative photos and their distribution. You might better be quaking in your left-wing, anti=American boots, because you have opened yourselves up to possible CRIMINAL liability. Take 'em down, Billy Ray, the South is with you and Miley.

62. I am just really amazed that this has gotten such HUGE press. If the press would quit feeding off of it the little girl fans would never have known about it - how many under 30's do you think read Vanity Fair? I do not think the content is even such that the average mother of a Hannah/Miley fan would even buy or suscribe to it. I cannot see my 10 year old niece who is a huge Hannah fan picking up a copy of Vanity Fair to read all about Miley. In reality Miley is a young lady on the verge of becoming a woman and the photo alhthough not appropriate for Hannah Montana and teen beat is not that sexual. Once again our media has blown something so out of proportion compared to the real problems in our world today.

63. The photo is a disgrace. Had this been a girl of an appropriate age- at least 18 years old (legal adult) then it wouldn't be so bad, but this woman (Annie Leibovitz) being the professional that she is supposed to be, should know better then to have a 15 year old child appear to have nothing on under a bed sheet. She is a CHILD! It is a completely inappropriate photo. Her parents also have to take equal blame for this. If they were on the set like they were reported to be and saw these pictures and did not speak up for the dignity of their daughter, they are just as much accountable. It seems like another typical case of parents getting wrapped up in the fame of their child and sacrifing her morals and self respect for their greed.

65. She's probably one of the most UN-talented photographers of our time. I don't care what anyone says, she sucks. The only thing that makes her photos special are the people who pose for them.... otherwise she'd be a nobody doing portraits at a department store.

66. What did Annie title the pic with her dad? Incest is best? What up with Miley in sexy black underwear on MUCH older boyfriends lap? Then she shows off her green bra, which you could see most of anyway. Look out Brittany ....here comes Miley! Crotch shots next. Miley, her family, and her photographer have no sense left. Oh, by the way, in California, kids under 18 are minors. Daddy, and/or Annie can be in trouble if pics are considered erotic. The pic with her dad ...disgusting.

67. Yea thats right blame the photographer because miley is a stupid dumbass. How old is she again? Fifteen? Give me a break. My seven year old niece is smarter then her. Jamie Lynn Spears is smarter then her. At fifteen i would think that you knew what you were doing, but then again Billy Ray is her father

68. Annie L. is a world renowned talented photographer. Her photos, though occasionally controversial, are always beautiful. There's a reason Disney brought her on to shoot their "fantasy" ads. People should get over themselves with regard to Miley Cyrus and her photos. No doubt she's gotten oodles of pressure to apologize, but having been 15 once myself, it's a time of exploration and emerging womanhood.....she's not 11.

69. Yes she made a bad choice , now lets get over it and move on , my girls love her and won't see Vanity fair , so I don't worry abbout them seeing the pic , as far as the woman who takes the pic you should be ashamed of your self doing this to a 15 yr old CHILD.

70. What in the world is Annie Leibovitz's problem? Why does she always need to have people take their clothes off?

She's a pervert. It's not "art." She's a dirty old man in a Lesbian body.

Her getting Miley to pose like that - making it LOOK like she was naked, is just beyond wrong. Getting the Queen to take off a crown, that's funny. Making a 15 year old young girl look seductive... like she's wrapped up in a bed sheet, hair all tossed, after waking up or doing whatever else- is just shameful. SHAMEFUL.

I'm also pissed at Miley's parents. Shame on them too. They really need to step up and try extra hard to protect her from garbage like this. She is 15! She needs parents that will make better decisions. this is not Miley's fault. She's way too young to be held responsible. She was just doing what she probably got talked into. She follows orders, she's 15.

Posted at 4:54PM on Apr 29th 2008 by Is this a joke? If so, no one is laughing.

71. Come on people GROW UP!! This is whats wrong with conservative americans...making a big stink about nothing the girl shows her back and everyone freaks out!! so what if she's 15 ...people see worse things in a commercial on TV... i THINK people need to get a life and stop being so conservative. That's why our country is going no where becasue of conservative republicans that have nothing better else to do then call up networks and complain becasue someone said ASS or some other dumb word. and by the way the parents of Mileys fans are another bunch of conservatives that have no idea thier kids are seeing worse things on tv or in person.

72. So -----anybody think Disney is behind all this publicity in order to milk it for all the $$$$$$$ thay can?
Quick, Britney, get in your car and drive somewhere--ANYWHERE!--- just to wipe this non-story off the AOL front pages.
Aren't you out of cigarettes or something? Soft drinks? Panties?

73. Who cares about what she did! She made a heck of a money out it so did her parents and the magazine. This week is her and I’m sure we’ll have someone else ready to mess up next week.

74. 46. My thinking on this from a business (Disney) point of view is that the parties involved have just become a liability.

===============================================================================================

I'm not so sure. For every parent who has become disenchanted with Miley, there are probably ten teenagers who are now starting to think she's cool ... and a bunch of adult males who are becoming sexually fascinated with her. If anything, Disney's profits will increase because of this.

Disney has to make these anti-Liebowitz and anti-Vanity-Fair public statements to maintain whatever credibility they might still have with those who are looking for wholesome entertainment. Plus, by fanning the flames of the controversy a little, they reap even more profit because of the resulting media tempest.

75. People seem to forget that the reason, if some thought this was wrong and didn't say anything, was because when your're on the payroll, unless you want to be fired, no one is going to say anything. If Miley didn't say anything, this would all be forgotten, but this keeps her in the spotlight, in the news with Lohan and Hilton.
