Disney Bites the Photog that Feeds It

Ever since Mileygate broke yesterday, Disney's been pissing on Annie Leibovitz and her shoot with Miley for Vanity Fair -- at the same time that Annie's been on the Mouse payroll for a couple years now doing their fancy "Dream Portrait" series.

Leibovitz has enlisted everyone from a (very young) Abigail Breslin to Julie Andrews, David Beckham and Beyonce to pose for her in the big-budget shots, designed after Disney stories. But when it came to their biggest and most bankable star, MiCy, all of a sudden they got collective corporate amnesia?

Disney said Annie "manipulated" the situation with Miley.

76. obviously this lady didnt force her to do anything (even if she is creepy). other people were at the shoot and if this lady "manipulated" her than we'd be hearing about that too. either way shes stupid (i could say alot more) and this was for publicity and look its working. and the other ray photos of her were obviously taken by herself and who else could release those?

we all just need to stop paying attention to her so she'll just fade away

77. Yea thats right blame the photographer because miley is a stupid dumbass. How old is she again? Fifteen? Give me a break. My seven year old niece is smarter then her. Jamie Lynn Spears is smarter then her. At fifteen i would think that you knew what you were doing, but then again Billy Ray is her father

78. Annie L. is a world renowned talented photographer. Her photos, though occasionally controversial, are always beautiful. There's a reason Disney brought her on to shoot their "fantasy" ads. People should get over themselves with regard to Miley Cyrus and her photos. No doubt she's gotten oodles of pressure to apologize, but having been 15 once myself, it's a time of exploration and emerging womanhood.....she's not 11.

79. Yes she made a bad choice , now lets get over it and move on , my girls love her and won't see Vanity fair , so I don't worry abbout them seeing the pic , as far as the woman who takes the pic you should be ashamed of your self doing this to a 15 yr old CHILD.

80. Just your everyday American culture going to hell...

Money is our god; sleaze is our way to make it. The CHICKENS are coming home to roost.

81. Who cares about what she did! She made a heck of a money out it so did her parents and the magazine. This week is her and I’m sure we’ll have someone else ready to mess up next week.

82. I am sure that she did manipulate Miley. Watch the special on Queen Elizabeth and see how she tried to manipulate her! Just because she is a famous photographer does not give her the right to make a child pose for risque photographs because they are artsy. She can display her art with a more mature subject!

83. Come on people GROW UP!! This is whats wrong with conservative americans...making a big stink about nothing the girl shows her back and everyone freaks out!! so what if she's 15 ...people see worse things in a commercial on TV... i THINK people need to get a life and stop being so conservative. That's why our country is going no where becasue of conservative republicans that have nothing better else to do then call up networks and complain becasue someone said ASS or some other dumb word. and by the way the parents of Mileys fans are another bunch of conservatives that have no idea thier kids are seeing worse things on tv or in person.

84. So -----anybody think Disney is behind all this publicity in order to milk it for all the $$$$$$$ thay can?
Quick, Britney, get in your car and drive somewhere--ANYWHERE!--- just to wipe this non-story off the AOL front pages.
Aren't you out of cigarettes or something? Soft drinks? Panties?

85. Who cares?

Eventually, she'll probably turn into the same kind of drugged-up, pornographic slut as Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, et al

86. 46. My thinking on this from a business (Disney) point of view is that the parties involved have just become a liability.

I'm not so sure. For every parent who has become disenchanted with Miley, there are probably ten teenagers who are now starting to think she's cool ... and a bunch of adult males who are becoming sexually fascinated with her. If anything, Disney's profits will increase because of this.

Disney has to make these anti-Liebowitz and anti-Vanity-Fair public statements to maintain whatever credibility they might still have with those who are looking for wholesome entertainment. Plus, by fanning the flames of the controversy a little, they reap even more profit because of the resulting media tempest.

87. People seem to forget that the reason, if some thought this was wrong and didn't say anything, was because when your're on the payroll, unless you want to be fired, no one is going to say anything. If Miley didn't say anything, this would all be forgotten, but this keeps her in the spotlight, in the news with Lohan and Hilton.

88. Grow up people! Her mother was THERE, her father was THERE . . . put the blame where it belongs. It also seems to me to be very convenient that everyone is so "sorry" and "embarrassed" now. Can you say . . . MORE PUBLICITY!! They are working it like the pros they are!

89. Little dose of reality for the dim and hysterical:

1) Annie Leibovitz has a decades-long track record. She is an esteemed, respected photographer who has produced a fantastic body of work, and has never been found suspect of anything untoward with her subjects.

2) All evidence (read, people!) demonstrates that both Miley and HER PARENTS knew exactly what was being shot, and were delighted by it. It was only later, after they heard criticism from some hyper-puritanical twits that they started crying foul.

3) Take a look at the photos themselves. Not exactly "nudes," are they? Not even close. The first sentence of 2, above, is hardly surprising.

Get a grip, will ya'll? If anyone deserves criticism, it's Miley's parents for their disingenuous umbrage borne of extreme concern over any adverse effect of the photos on Miley's marketability. In other words, it's an issue of $$$, not anything done by Leibovitz or Vanity Fair.

Man, it's painful and embarrassing that so many of my fellow Americans are such nitwits.

90. I'm sure that Disney and Miley/Miley's handlers signed off on these pictures before they were put to print. At least they saw the digital images on the day they were taken. It's unfair for them to displace their embarrasment onto Annie Leibovitz. Also, why must we add "gate" to every scandal/issue? MILEYGATE? Seriously? That's making a mountain of a molehill and just sounds ridiculous.
