Johnny Depp Stimulates ... Local Economy

Johnny DeppJohnny Depp is doing what the president can't -- saving the economy one location at a time!

While filming his new film "Public Enemies" in Oshkosh, Wisc., Johnny's eating and drinking habits did more for the area's financial outlook than any reduction in interest rates. Depp and his pals -- who were staying at a hotel in nearby Appleton -- recently dropped a $1,500 tip on a $2,600 dinner at a local restaurant and that has residents saying, "Johnny Depp is welcome here anytime." Hillary & Obama, who?

The Michael Mann directed film filmed in -- and pumped cash into -- various parts of Wisconsin and Illinois, leaving a trail of very happy townies. See, Hollywood ain't all bad.

17. A local newspaper, the Appleton Post-Crescent, reported he stayed at the Copper Leaf Hotel in Appleton. There were sightings of him drinking coffee there and having a drink at Deju Vu, a martini bar on the same street. Crew were staying at another hotel by the Copper Leaf, as well as a Neenah hotel. Rumors were running rampant that he was staying at various houses in Oshkosh and Neenah. A city official confirmed JD did not stay in Neenah.

21. $2,600 is a large bill but it never says how many people were on that tab. If Johnny was picking up the tab for the crew or something,, it could easily get that high. I don't know why he would do that but he always has been generous so maybe he just felt like it. He can easily afford it.
Even when he was a bad boy, he was still a class act to most people. And I dare anybody to say he shouldn't be one of the 10 sexiest men in the world.

22. Johnny Depp has always been a generous guy. He is the best actor I have ever seen. I always know that if Johnny is in a movie, it will be GREAT. Because he makes it GREAT. I have loved him for many years and always will. I agree that if he ran for president he would win. He won my heart years ago, and has never let me down. Johnny Depp I love you.

23. In Johnny's childhood, his mom would come home with tips, and he remembers that's what helps pays the bills.

He is truly a great man, we all know that, he's always welcome back in Wisconsin, I'm sure everyone loved him here,
and talking to cast and crew they seemed they also loved it too

24. This is really cool to hear, because I am originally from Neenah, WI. I agree with the previous comment though; that area of Wisconsin is not a poor shack-dwelling area. My relatives all live in very nice houses and have good incomes, but either way, a $1,500 tip is always nice.
I can't wait for the movie to come out; maybe I will recognize some places!

25. You're article about this is very straight forward and shows how awesome Johnny can be. That's why I do not understand the video. Eye-rolling and the tone of voice make it sound like what Johnny did at that restaurant was ridiculous. Johnny's mother was indeed a waitress, and I am sure he remembers the struggles he went through as a child/teenager. I see nothing wrong with leaving a large tip when you are able. Let's face it....being a waitress is probably one of the most underpaid and overworked jobs there is. Good for Johnny! He's been my hero for a long time...this just makes him even more of a hero in my book.

If you are going to report stories on your TV show and post the videos here, you probably should strive to reach the level of professional reporters and leave your eye-rolling for off-camera. Especially when it is a story of someone out of Hollywood doing something nice for a change.

26. Johnny's bill included more than 9 people, Lexi. He doesn't drink that much....but he does appreciate fine wine. The prices on the wine at the restaurant were quite high from what I hear, ranging from $300 to $500 per bottle. At that rate, when you substract the cost of the food for everyone there, there wasn't much wine purchased.

27. Johnny Depp is Hollywood. There are no other actors that come close to his acting talent; his sexiness; his kindness to his fans; his devotion to his movie projects; and his love for his family's privacy.

Johnny Depp is so out of the entertainment gossip wold that the only thing TMZ could bring up is the story about the fantastic tip he left behind at a restaurant.

I bet the TMZ staff writer for this story wishes he had $1500.00 to brag about!

28. Even if 9 people cost him $100 each without booze, that's still a lot of left over money for booze. The little Pirate DOES drink a lot. That's why he alway has a driver. Wake-up. Prince charming is a lush!

30. God, he makes me hot and bothered. And he's a good guy to top it all off. I'd open a pie shop with him anytime ("Sweeney Todd", anyone?)
