Modine's Use of the N-Word Just Ain't Wright

Matthew Modine hurled the N-word for all to hear on "The O'Reilly Factor" last night. He was making a point about Reverend Jeremiah Wright and then mentioned his daddy, who used to refer to blacks as uppity N****rs. The N-word was bleeped, but what Matt is saying is plain as day.

16. I think that he could have just said "uppity n-word" instead.

But you know O'Reilly's as-hole puckered up when he said that.

17. You know it seems to me that there are different types of people in all races. I get so sick of this kind of thing. There are dorks in all races, there are pinheads in all races, there poor people in all races, there are rich people in all races, there are foolish peolpe in all races, and on and on and on......

This is what I teach my kids. I don't think that this man is a rasist. I think he was making a point. I have a mother-in-law I swear has a KKK outfit. But..... her Grandchildren feel none of her feelings which tells me that I'm doing my job!

It is a huge mistake to rasie a child to look at color any other way except its color! Big deal.

Like Kat Williams says- Peolpe you have to have your, mexican, white, black friends. Then he points out wonderful things about each of these groups. Through humor he makes us all understand!

Oh, I can't wait to have a perfect world someday. Here's to wishin'!

20. Naturally everyone without a brain will overlook the point of what he's saying and focus on that 'word', even when it's being used in reference to how it USED. TO. BE. AND. IS. NOT. USED. THAT. WAY. NOW.
It's only ok for black comediennes to use it. No one else. Hey, last I looked, no one had word copyrights. He is describing historical usage.

23. its disgusting how the poll favored his comments. in no way was that appropriate and it was offensive. then i read some comments on here, and it just gets worse. wow, america will never move past racism, its scary.

24. Last I knew, he was married or living with a black woman so I don't think he's a racist and I believe the context in which he used the word was fine.

26. Which is why you uppity bloggers are douchebags. By your headline, you deem this extremely innapropriate. By your poll, the vast majority dissagree. Nothing is funnier than a self ritious blogger telling REAL people how to think, damn, what is this, Perez Hilton. Get a grip, and remember you are worse than us, not better.

27. Okay White America, I'm packing my bags and selling my house as fast as I can, I know when I'm not wanted (not since 1865, when my people stopped being used as free labor and the occasionally extra-marital affair)...please #2, let me return to the "desolance" of Africa (the richest continent in natural resources and birthplace of HUMANITY) and you take the Afrikaners out of South Africa bring them here...it'll be an even switch.

28. file under "those people" can dish it out but can't take it. all matt had to do was insert "white" "cracker" "white trash" etc and there is NO problem with that brand of racism .... funny thing about respect - always a one way street in the 'hood.

30. Matthew is absolutely not racist. He has been married to an african american woman for the past 30+ years!
