Modine's Use of the N-Word Just Ain't Wright

Matthew Modine hurled the N-word for all to hear on "The O'Reilly Factor" last night. He was making a point about Reverend Jeremiah Wright and then mentioned his daddy, who used to refer to blacks as uppity N****rs. The N-word was bleeped, but what Matt is saying is plain as day.

32. He didn't refer to any one person as an uppity N***** - he was referring to what his father used say. Besides with all the racist, hate Rev. Wright is spewing this is nothing in comparison.

Funny how when a black person is racist its ok. But god forbid a white person say anything mildly ethnic.

37. Especially in the South, people have racists older relatives. It's not right, but true. What Matthew was trying to point out is white people spewing the n word and black people hating white people is of an older generation. Once we accept what is true, not politically correct, Americans will be able to unite and not be divided by race. Just because my father, grandfather, or others are racist, does not mean I have to be. That is what he was trying to say.

38. context is everything ... get a grip people. i have quoted my father and his use of the word many times over the years and nobody who was paying attention ever mistook me for a racist - there's enough going on in the world to be outraged about without having to fabricate things. he said it, so what, move on.

39. Personally I never use that word anyway, and won't use it ever, but nevertheless I find it strange that in our enlightened, "tolerant" society where there is no right and wrong anymore, certain groups of people have carte blanche to use certain words, while others are castigated and eviscerated for using the same word. My point is, if a word is wrong for one group to use, it is wrong for everyone. I would not have used it if I were him, but conversely, I believe that it's equally unacceptable for anyone of any color to use it, regardless.

41. #47 To trade an Afrikaner for an unemployed black gang member would be
would be the bargain of the century. Honestly, if you are Black, Hispanic, etc. and
you enjoy and appreciate being an American then you are Kick Ass.
If you are
Black and are still blaming slavery for all your problems then you suck. Can you
imagine how despised and looked down on Blacks would be if there was no slavery
and only 50,000 Blacks lived in America? Slavery sucks of course, but without it you
would not be in this country with all its opportunities and yes flaws.

45. White people are soooo predictable! I just knew when I voted and waited for the results the majority would be "understandable" being that majority of the people on this site are white.! He could have just said the N-Word and not the whole thing. And of course whites and Bill O'Reilly think it's OK. It's never bad unless your on the receiving end.
