Matthew Modine hurled the N-word for all to hear on "The O'Reilly Factor" last night. He was making a point about Reverend Jeremiah Wright and then mentioned his daddy, who used to refer to blacks as uppity N****rs. The N-word was bleeped, but what Matt is saying is plain as day.

Since he was using the word in context, to describe what his father used to say (and my own grandfather and father had descriptive names) he's telling it in story form and not throwing the word at them and I understand his point. It's no different than a black person saying their granny used to call us stupid white crackers (which I have no doubt some of my relatives were).
There was alot of racism in those days and describing it is one thing...perpetuating it is another and that's what Mr. Wright (so called Reverand) does.

Wright (I dont call ANY man reverend, because the Bible says holy and reverend is HIS name) spouts hate and makes everything a racial issue, and this guy is supposed to be a man of God ???? I dont recall Jesus ever fostering or promoting hate. I dont recall the Son of God ever spewing such nonsense and filth as this man does, but white America is the bad guy? I dont recall reading of Christ blaming disease and catastrophes on other races or the government. Paul said if any man preaches another gospel, other than what he (Paul) preached, let him be accursed. I dont read of Mr. Wright's gospel in the Bible. Mr. Wright points fingers and accuses people of being racist, and forgets that he has four fingers pointing back at him. If a white man said about black people the same hurtful and hateful things Mr. Wright has said about whites, there would be an outrage, he would be castigated in the media and Al Sharpton would jump on it so fast it would spin your head around backwards, a public apology would be demanded, and that man would be fired, and you all know this is the truth. Mr. Wright seems to be given freedom to say anything he wants, (we do have freedom of speech in America after all) but that freedom only applies to a select few. This whole issue has denegrated into a disgusting mess. Mr. Wright is not interested in uniting the races. He's interested in giving the media the latest sound bite and riding out his 15 minutes of fame. Racism is wrong, regardless of flavor, no matter how you slice it.
