Paula Talks, Words Come Out

If Paula Abdul wanted to clear up why she was acting loopy on last night's "Idol," she should have let someone else do the talking.

Instead, Paula showed up on "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest" this morning and explained how it all went down.

Good luck trying to decipher it.

46. I read in People magazine a number of yers ago about Paula. In the story she claims to have some sort of nerve disorder, kind of similar to the long term pain caused by shingles. I've had shingles and it is painful and my case was mild. So, I can see why she would be on painkillers.
BUT
The intention of a painkiller is to deaden the pain, not drug up the patient. Once the patient is basically getting high, it should be noted by the physician that the patient needs to have a pain eval and either wean off the medication or switch to something else.
This is not the first time Paula has been this way. I think this is VERY routine for her, but some days it is just worse than others. And of course, people in Hollywood are so self involved that they care more about themselves and continuing production of this show than getting her help.
Typical, but sad.

49. Paula never sounds coherent! No excuses! By the way, comment #4, it's Brett Favre, not Brent Farb.

51. Ryan...the way you defended Paula on the Show AI tonight was very classy....good job dude

Posted at 12:19AM on May 1st 2008 by As I said....

52. She's still confused. I was buying the whole rehersal explanation, but she got fouled up (again) at the end. I love how Ryan had to address the 'controversy' early in the show.

54. The problem with idol is the songs that the contestants have to sing are awful. Who listens to Neil Diamond these days? Let them sing songs that are popular at the present time not some crappy broadway songs. Also how can the judges even know what is going on when Simon is always playing around with Paula and they are always talking to each other. How can you judge someone if you are not paying attention to their preformance. I think the show has run its course and needs to go away. Just my opinion and I know everyone has one. I am glad that Brooke who can't take suggestions to make herself better is gone. She should have left before Carly did. I am tired to seeing her pouty lips when someone tries to give her advice.

55. First off no one should say she should overdose and die. That isnt right. Second u have serious issues if u think that way. We dont have any idea what is going on with paula. We can assume. Sure i can assume shes on something. All i can say is she should see her dr and find out why shes all spacey andd slurs and has a hard time talking and focusing. Paula i dont know what is going on with you. I know u dont let it bother you when people say mean stuff but others are really worried about u. I know u dont want your busisness around town, But now people are worried please get some tests done. Also if u are using painkillers if u are then u shouldnt use them on the show live cuz its making it hard for u too judge and speak clearly. i didnt say u are i said if. Dont be embarssed if u have something wrong. To thine self be true. I wish the best for you. U a sweet loving person. There are people out there do love u and care and looking out for u. take care. johanna h from maine

56. Judging scripted? Maybe - certainly plenty of reason for suspicion. Then they try to trot out the lame excuse that she was just mixed up and using notes from the dress rehearsal - as if that somehow made it OK? BS - the judges shouldn't even be able to watch any of the performers up to the live show!

Iv'e read that Paula is on pain medication - something to do with her back or old injuries? Sorry, I just don't buy it - I've had back problems... if she really was in that kind of pain, she wouldn't be jumping up-and-down out of her seat to dance all the time!

Regardless of whether she is drugged, drunk, or just stupid (has to be at least one of the three) - I'm fed up with the whole show. That's the last straw for me!
