TMZ has obtained several tips from the Bahamas -- where Mariah, Nick Cannon and several other celebs have arrived on the island and preparations for a significant event are underway -- a wedding, perhaps?

People on the small island of Windermere, where Mariah owns a house, say a boardwalk that could be a makeshift aisle has been erected from her pad to the beach, with workers rigorously raking up all the seaweed on the surrounding area.

If they're getting married, it may be a big deal here ... but our sources say the islanders couldn't care less.

69. I don't know TMZ, you seem to be lagging lately.

You used to be the first to have information when it came to celebrity news, but now that you have the T.V. show, your site seems to be suffering. I used to check your site at least 15 times a day, and there was so much information.

First there was the Beyonce and Jay-z wedding. Since you guys didn't break the news first you tried to downplay it as being untrue. Although of course everyone now knows it's definitely true.

Now it's Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. It seems that other sites have better insiders. What's going on?

75. Wow. I'm so dissppointed in her. I cant believe it. I thought Mariah was way too better than that. Its not going to last. Nick is not even on her level. Mariah couldnt even handle being married to Tommy Matolla the head honcho of Sony and now nick cannon. Are you kidding me?????
