Leibovitz: Miley Pic Ain't Smutty!

Despite getting blasted by the Mouse for "deliberately manipulating a 15-year-old," Annie Leibovitz is standing by her bareback shot of Miley Cyrus.

VF pooh-bah Graydon Carter can't be too torn up about it either -- he let her right into his celebriteria, The Waverly Inn, last night in NYC.

61. okay, #15, so what exactly makes this pictures pornographic? i certainly haven't seen any body parts hanging out in any of these photos that would be considered "private", especially if you compare them to the ones that Miley herself had out there all over the internet last week. kind of hard to justify her "embarrassment and humiliation" towards the VF pictures, when there she is in all her glory on her Myspace, lifting her shirt up to show us her green bra.

62. i say.....lets ask my idol............The Honorable Judge Judy............

I don't think Miley is a bad kid.......I am angry with the photographer...and the magazine.....

The question is :.....Where does it go from here..................I don't think it fair....that her career is over because of it....
But in the same light.............I don't take it lightly that a kid is half naked in a picture.....that is horrible....
This is a very serious issue.......Perhaps the photographer....is getting a little senile...or something....I dont really think she would intentionally do something to hurt Miley either.....so that is why I say maybe she's getting old..and dont think straight...
But the magazine............They hold all the blame......pictures should not have been in print.......

I dont think Miley's fans want to lose her......

So...where does everyone go from here..........

63. Oh please, the whole thing is just to get more publicity. Miley and her crew are saying that Vanity Fair set this all up just to sell magazines, but if she hadn't complained about the whole thing, no one would have known. Now that she's gone and whined about it, the magazine will be flying off the rack. This whole thing is pathetic, there is nothing wrong with the pictures and if someone thought there was a problem, then someone should have said something then, not now. Annie Leibowitz is an artist who has nothing to prove, why would she go out of her way to land herself in controversy?

64. there has been worse
other people that have gone naked underage
britney spears when she was 17
jessica biel when she was 16
other disney people that have done things just as bad
vanessa hudgens
lindsay lohan
and they are still using vanessa for the new HSM3 movie. if you have children that are her age they do the same thing they take the pics themselves and use them differently. the only way she will become a train-wreck is the paps following her and her going to clubs and stuff.
nobody is going to jail here, and it is nobodies fault. if it is anybodies fault it is vanity fair's fault for actually using the photo. vanity fair will be the ones to pay money or go to jail.

I agree with everything you said in your messages except the line that I quoted, above.

In my opinion, Miley's parents should take the heat here:

1. They knew that Annie Liebowitz has been famous for decades and that she sometimes takes nude and semi-nude photos of celebrities, and yet they still gladly agreed for her to be their 15-year-old daughter's photographer for a photo shoot in a nationally distributed popular magazine.

2. They knew that Vanity Fair is a magazine that often has nudity or partial nudity in their features, and they even have done things like having a nude and pregant Demi Moore on their cover. In other words, Miley's parents knew that Vanity Fair is not some sort of Bible Study magazine for novices in a convent. And still, they gladly agreed to have Miley's feature appear in Vanity Fair.

3. Miley's dad gladly appeared in that photo with Miley's head on his lap. In this photo, they were depicted like boyfriend-girlfriend, not father-daughter. He knew exactly what was in that photo, and he never complained about it nor asked that it not be published.

4. After the parents left the photo shoot, Miley's grandmother and a teacher of hers remained, and they were present when the backless photo of Miley was being shot. They did not try to prevent that photo from being taken, nor did they protest about it. Furthermore, I have a very hard time believing that after the photo shoot was over, Grandma didn't tell Mom and Dad every detail of what occurred there in their absence.

5. Neither Miley nor anyone else in her family protested at all about the content of the photo shoot until Disney (Miley's meal ticket) raised a stink. Since Miley's parents know what side their bread is buttered on, they _then_ started pretending to be all shocked and indignant about the photos.

At best, Miley's parents weren't the slightest bit interested in what happened during the photo shoot after they left, which makes them blatantly guilty of child neglect.

At worst, Miley's parents knew exactly what was going on from beginning to end, and they were perfectly happy with the results -- until they were forced to backtrack after they saw Disney's reaction.

Either way, Mom and Dad are the ones that deserve the blame.

67. No-ones going to jail, that's for sure you bunch of child porn defenders. To compare bikini/swimshots to this, where no bikini is on is uncomparable. Thanks, but I'll just buy my porn the old fashioned way. From admitted Hos over 18 and legal.
It's amazing to add to the list the hollywooders who need to be slapped repeatedly, and out pops this wrinkly prune who's got the balls to be smug. And that goes for VFair, too.

68. By the way Disney Fans..............If your planning a trip there anytime soon, Gay Pride week at Disney this year is June 3rd through June 9th in Orlando.............I don't know about Cali. We changed our vacation, because I am not taking my Grandchildren after I read and heard some of the things that go on during that week.

Just thought some might not beaware of that.

I didn't know about Gay Pride week. Thanks for mentioning it, Buckeye Girl.

Now that I know about it, I'm going to try to get the family over to Orlando during that time. It will be a good lesson for my children about being open-minded and big-hearted, and to not live in fear of differences. It will help my kids see that we're all equally worthy of God's love no matter what our race, gender, creed, religion, ethnic background, political beliefs, or (gasp!) sexual orientation happen to be.

If we teach our children hate and fear, we're condeming them and the entire world to a darker, more bloody future.

By the way, I trust that Miley is going to God in sincere repentence and asking for forgiveness and the strength to forgive others. Any of you who have been attacking her would be wise to do the same. It would be a good lesson for you to learn how to forgive Miley.

70. I think Miley did nothing wrong in posing for those picture, She has a great head on her shoulders and great parents to guide. I knew her dad yrs ago when he played in a little pub in Huntington, WV He was great back then.

71. I believe Brooke Shields was 14 when she did Blue Lagoon?! As a parent I think that was disgusting! The pictures of Miley were not showing anything but her bare back! Go figure!

72. I don't care what anybody says, the photos are beautiful, and so is Miley. She was encouraged by her Discordian mentor Reverend Loveshade and great photographer Annie Leibovitz to bring out her sensual side. She's 15, she's sexy, she's hot, and she can choose to show some skin. Skin don't mean skank, and a Disney Princess can be a Discordian American Princess too!

73. So"everything's covered". The INTENT was to make her look like she just had sex. totally inappropriate. I agree with koff koff kiddie porn.

74. Brooke Shields is a normal woman who stayed a virgin until she was 20 years old. She posed when a young girl with makeup and seductive poses when she was naked! And she was a naked preteen prostitute in a movie I don't remember the name. I think her character was based on the San Francisco prostitute Minnie Rae. So being in what people call child pornography doesn't corrupt you showing your back certainly doesn't!

75. Gail if that photo makes her look like she just had sex to you, that's in your own mind. If anybody looks for child pornography, they'll find it whether it's there or not!
