"Lost" Diary -- Something Nice Back Home

LostHey, Daniel from TMZ here -- welcome to another edition of the "Lost" Diary.

I've bemoaned the lack of "TiVo Moments" this season on "Lost" -- and now I'm wondering if the lack of cliffhangers has sort of killed the anticipation for "Lost" each week. I've looked quickly back at the last few weeks worth of endings and only the "I'm Ben's daughter!" ending really left you hanging. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I don't have the same "LOST IS ON!!!" feeling lately.

For all you "Lost" Diary newbies, here's how it goes: I gather with a group of friends watching "Lost," writing what happens on the show as it happens, and throwing in my two cents along the way. Ari and Lauren are in Costa Rica, so I am flying solo tonight. Let's roll ...

10:00 -- Jack isn't looking so hot. I didn't see this coming at all. Oh wait, yes I did! Hey ABC -- stop airing "Lost" promos! We know it's on. All you're doing is ruining it for us. Does anyone really think that someone watching the NBA Finals is going to stumble on a promo for "Lost" and say, "Hey that show looks good. Maybe I should give it a try"? Really?

10:01 -- Oh no, Jack fainted. Maybe he'll die. Oh wait, we already know he lives! I'll stop now, promise.

10:02 -- Jack flashforward time and it looks like we're getting "somewhat well-adjusted Jack" instead of "raging lunatic Jack." Perhaps this week will fill-in that blank a little bit for us.

10:03 -- Jack's got a lady friend -- and a kid. With Juiet, perhaps?

10:04 -- in an upset, it's Kate. I wonder where in the timeline we are here -- after Kate's trial, but before Jack goes crazy?

10:07 -- From the looks of things, Jack and Kate are playing house now, and have for some time. It's definitely post-trial. BTW -- Kate in a dress shirt? Thumbs up.

10:10 -- Whoa -- looks like Rousseau didn't survive. A little anti-climactic, a tad shocking and a bit disappointing. Great scene with Miles though. More of him, please.

10:12 -- Even if I didn't know Jack makes it off the island, I would never want to watch a show that kills off a main character because of appendicitis. Lame.

10:16 -- Juliet is barking orders around and Kate is standing around looking worried and all I can think is this: How did I ever think Juliet was hotter than Kate? It's not even close. Evangeline, my apologies.

10:18 -- Rose thinks the island made Jack sick on purpose -- to keep him on the island, perhaps.

10:19 -- Jack wants Kate to be in the surgery. Apparently he thinks at some point someone is going to be needed to be held at gunpoint.

10:20 -- Jack's back to seeing his dad. Sweet.

10:21 -- And Hurley is back to being crazy. Nice.

10:23 -- "You're not supposed to raise him, Jack." -- Hurley

10:24 -- "Charlie said someone is going be visiting you too. Soon." -- Hurley. Remember last week when I said anytime "Lost" does a scene that's longer than like 2 minutes it's always amazing? No exception here.

10:28 -- Farraday and company are at the medical station and Jin and Sun are back to speaking Korean. I missed subtitles. Only problem? I think Charlotte speaks Korean. Just a hunch.

10:29 -- Lawnmower Man emerged from the bushes with a sat phone and a warning -- HIDE. Sawyer and company smartly listen.

10:30 -- Seems the smoke monster spared all the bad guys from last week. What the hell did it do then?

10:31 -- "Looks like I'm gonna be your nurse." -- Kate. "Wouldn't the first time." -- Jack. Nice throwback to the premiere episode, when Kate sewed up Jack's wound.

10:32 -- Jack is camped outside Hurley's mental hospital. Looking for Charlie, maybe?

10:34 -- "Will you marry me?" -- Jack

10:35 -- "Yes." -- Kate

10:39 -- Have I mentioned lately how much I love Jin? He just totally bitch-slapped Charlotte -- in Korean -- and it was awesome. I want Jin to be my friend.

10:40 -- Jack appendectomy time. I think he'll make it.

10:41 --

10:42 -- Jack is really, really back to seeing his dad again. Next stop, Crazytown.

10:44 -- And here comes the drug addiction. Choo, choo! All aboard!

10:45 -- "Jack's never home before 8. I can stay about an hour." Kate to ... Noreen? I don't think so.

10:46 -- Two pills with a beer? Man, Jack is getting right to it, ain't he?

10:47 -- Ok, now Claire sees Christian holding Aaron. Is anyone NOT crazy this week?

10:50 -- Juliet gracefully stepped aside, basically giving Jack and Kate permission to screw. Classy move, considering she's a whore.

10:51 -- "I know you're awake." -- Juliet to Jack

10:52 -- Jack is obliterated and jealous. Things are about to get good.

10:53 -- What man in his right mind would "let it go" when he asks where his fiancee is? Not even Jack would let that non-answer slide.

10:54 -- WHOA!!! SAWYER IS ALIVE ON THE ISLAND!!!

10:55 -- And it's Claire's Aaron. That's now settled.

10:56 -- I think Jack can flush that Father of the Year award down the toilet now.

10:57 -- Claire seems to have followed Christian into the night and disappeared.

10:58 -- If that's the last we ever see of Claire again, that would be BEYOND awesome.

10:59 -- "CLAIRE!!!!!" -- Sawyer. Not as good as "WAAAAAALT!!!!"

Yet another high-level episode of "Lost" -- though I don't think I can sit through another week without Desmond. Feels like the producers know he's the man, so they spread out the Desmond love so as not to waste it. I thoroughly enjoyed this episde -- B for sure -- but I have the same odd feeling after this one that I have had after nearly every episode this season.

I used to judge each episode with the question, "What have we learned?" But lately, we haven't been learning much -- but the episodes have still been top-notch. I am not going to go note-for-note, but we haven't learned anything Earth-shattering this season. The biggest revelations have occurred off the island, and some would argue that all they have done is give away what will happen on the island.

Again -- don't take this as me bashing this season. I have loved it. But at the same time I am left to wonder -- has this season really accomplished anything in the grand scheme of things? Everyone has moved around a bit, the freighter people have landed -- but really, what else is there? I could probably explain what has happened this season in like a minute.

I have often argued there is a difference between a good episode of "Lost" and a GOOD EPISODE OF "LOST" -- last year's Nikki and Paulo episode being a great example." I feel like we've been getting good episodes, but not GOOD episodes. Hope that makes sense.

So my question to you this week is this -- as good as "Lost" has been this year, do you still feel robbed by it? I kinda do. 'Til next week ...

106. I thought last night's episode was interesting.. About the whole Jack and Kate thing.. I think when Kate lied about who she was talking to, it wasn't Sawyer, but had to do with him. I personally got the feeling that when she said She promised Sawyer she would do something, that he was dead, and she was keeping a promise to him, probably to look after the daughter he didn't want to admit was his, Clementine. I just got that feeling.. Hope I'm wrong. And I too believe that in that first episode this year when they were on the bridge and she said she had to get back before he knew she was gone, she was also referring to Aaron, maybe she had left him home alone, because we now know that the maid leaves at 6pm.. He would have had to be home sleeping. I also believe that Juilette could have done something to Jack, as I too don't remember anyone else being in there with her when Kate came back in. As for Jack's scar.. They were shaving his right side in the episode, and if I'm not mistaken, in the flash forward, there was a faint scar on the left, facing the camera... Did anyone notice that in the promo for next week, if you pause it right, Sayid is back on the island sitting on the beach next to Juilette? Found that interesting.. As I watched this episode with my 17 yr old son, he too thinks that the reason Hurley told Jack that he can't raise Aaron, is because Aaron is his nephew. That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever, as many many people step up to raise relatives after a tragedy. Jack to me, is guilted far too much to be around Aaron, as if, he has something to do, or did not do something to prevent Claire from being able to raise her son. Is it just me or don't things start to go weird after the black smoke, like maybe it's a halucinegenic? And if some of these crazy people survive the black smoke, then When is Mr Ecko coming back, he rocked!! I thought he was an amazing character.. I liked this episode, I think it had a few sublte hints, and things to ponder, and any episode that has Sawyer in it, rocks!

107. I always play a little game: How often is the name "JACK" said in an episode? Tonight was a whopping 32!!! Good thing I wasnt playing "Hi Bob" I would still be drunk

108. 94. I agree I feel robbed! I assumed Sawyer was off the island because when Jack goes crazy and meets Kate at the airport she says "He is waiting for me". Now we know she still communicates with him. The only thing I learned was Jack knows he is related to Aaron. The best part of the episode was Hurley!

The "he" waiting for her at home was Aaron.

109. MATTHEW FOX IS FAT WITH LOVE HANDLES. HE LIVES BY ME IN KAILUA AND I SEE HIM ALL THE TIME AND I CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S FAMOUS. PLUS HE'S A JERK AND HIS WIFE LOOKS LIKE A SCARY WITCH.

111. There is no way Juliette took out his appendix. I thought it was a scam from the beginning. I believe she performed this fake surgery on him to keep him from leaving. I have never trusted her. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out one of the Losties is really an Other and has been all along. That would be a good twist!

112. My observations: In the shower scene, before we see it is Kate, it DID NOT sound like Kate. I was a little disgusted because it sounded more like Charlotte, or was it Juliette's voice. Can't stand either!
Miles sure seemed interested in Aaron, Sawyer thought Miles was getting the hots for Claire, but he was intrigued with baby Aaron, maybe Aarons does have special powers?
And I know that untrustworthy Juliette kicked out Kate only to do something to Jack, no question about it can't trust Ben, can't trust Juliette.
Is this a Vanilla Sky or is there some shape shifting going on, what do you think?

113. Ok - First thoughts on Kate's devotion and Jack's guilt - I think these feelings are leading to a huge dramatic tear jerker scene soon to come! I had this possible scene bouncing around in my head- Remember how Jack threw the fact that he saved Kates life & got her off the island like he promised - Think we are going to have a Sophies Choice moment coming!! Maybe, for whatever reason Jack will be forced to choose between Claire & Kate. Can't you see the emotional passing of Aaron from Claire to Kate!!! And Kate promising to take care of him!!! But after they leave only then does Jack discover Claire is his sister!!!!!!
Next I like HAPPY "Crazy" Hurly!! SAD "Crazy" Hurly makes me wanna cry!!
Also to all the people on about what Juliet did or did not do to Jack in the surgery - Unless she chloroformed Bernard as well I can't see how she could slip something inside Jack without him seeing her doing it!
Finally - The whole shower scene at the beginning of the show had a very BOBBY EWING feeling to it!!!

114. The smoke monster probably killed the troopers (re the smoke monster being Ben changing the future and coming back to correct the course ) but the men are now ghost manifestations like Claire probably is since she probably died in the original bombing....................... I really really don't think the smoke monster is a 'thing' that ben controls unless you want to say Ben controls and or can control the past present and future.

115. First when Hurley said "you're not suposed to raise HIM" I think that maybe he was telling Jack that he couldn't raise his father from the dead.
Second, Kate never said that she communicated with Sawyer, She said that she was doing somthing that she promised Sawyer, which she could have promised him any time while on the island with him.
Third, Ben got sick, pregnet women got sick, and Jack got sick all on the island, Locke and Rose were sick before coming to the island and got better.
And lastly, If Juliette had something to do with Jack getting sick, remember that she was responsible for Claire getting sick before Arron was born, and had to get some medicine to heal her.

116. So far this season is a bit disappointing, - some questions have been answered, but then even more questions are being posed. Not sure if I like the flash-forwards as it seems like its almost spoiling the ending, unless of course the show doesn't end with the rescue of the Oceanic 6. However, I do believe that once the series gets to the end, all of the questions will be answered and we will see how everything ties together. The writers have already said that the Losties are not in purgatory or anything like that, so I think the island actually exists and is a pawn in a game between Ben and Widmore, kinda like the game of Risk that Locke, Hurley and Sawyer were playing last week. And remember how Ben talked about Widmore changing the rules in the last episode? I think the two of them are battling each other for "control" of the island and it's been going back and forth between them for years. And I am wondering how The Black Rock fits into all of this - in an earlier episode from this season, Widmore is intent on bidding on auction items from the ship, which supposedly sunk in the 1800's, but if the Black Rock is on the island, then it couldn't have sunk. Kinda like Oceanic Flight 815 being found on the bottom of the ocean? hmmm

117. I am loving this season and cant believe all the whining going on here! to state the obvious-when jack says to kate she is not even related its because he knows the child is claires, not kates. That does not mean he has any knowlege of HIS relationship to aaron. the writers need to write more for Jin and Sawyer-shirtless preferably-as both characters are underutilized and both are badass! If kate ends up with anyone-her character irritates to no end-it should be sawyer. those two steam up the screen and sawyers vulnerability with her is WAY more appealing than jack and his never ending ISSUES with himself. I hope jack does turn out to be jacob.

118. THE SHOWS AWESOME.I'VE WATCHED EVERY EPISODE FROM DAY 1. YES, THIS KATE CHICK IS PAST ANNOYING,BUT LOOKS FINE AS H#LL IN THOSE SHORT SHORTS. I LIKE MANY OTHERS NEED MORE ANSWERS TOO, BUT AM STILL ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT EVERY WEEK. THANK YOU FOR THIS BLOG. THESE ARE THE GREATEST WRITERS OUT RIGHT NOW. REMEBER THE REASON WERE ALL CONFUSED AND LOST IS BECAUSE THE SHOWS NAME IS LOST.

119. I think that kate son is really claire's son. Therefore neither of them can legally raise him. Although claire is revealed to be dead next week. so who knows.

120. It looks like another power of the island is that it removed Jack's chest hair. C'mon! Matthew Fox used to be a real man with chest and stomach hair. Somebody's been waxing!!
