Tom Keeps Suri in a Cage

Oprah didn't pull any punches with Tom Cruise in their big interview today, asking him exactly what he was thinking when he went all Scientolocrazy on her couch the last time they talked.

But the craziest thing we learned about Tom? He and Katie have built a small playroom cage for Suri under the stairs of their Telluride house where she "has tea parties" -- Scientolospeak for reading LRH by flashlight, we're thinkin'.

Also, Katie's audio module was apparently activated for a very short period of time. Oprah confessed that she was "nervous" when she approached the house. No wonder.

61. It must be a slow celeb day when Tom Cruise gives his daughter a play house under the stairs, as I had and LOVED growing up, and it makes the news as bizarre.

Yes, he a scientologist and they have odd beliefs, but so does every other religion. About the rant on meds, did you hear the news that those same meds are in our water supply? Perhaps we as a society do use too many of those medications if they are ending up in our drinking water after the water has been "recycled." Are we really more nuts than 30 years ago or are we just quicker to get a quick fix? While I was offended at the time, he seems not to be so terribly far from the truth.

63. 37. The playhouse is adorable and thank heavens it is simple and not with all the bells and whistles that most celeb children must have. Yes, he jumped on the couch, but his current response made me respect a man that I hadn't before when asked if he would take it back. He wouldn't despite the backlash of his insanity. If that is the worst he can do, then more power to him. Does he belong to a religion that believes nutty things? Yes, but how many of you believe that God impregnated a virgin to give birth to himself? How many of you believe that God parted the reed sea?

As far as medication goes, why are so many of them in our drinking water and NOT filtered out? Why are we so heavily medicating for symptoms over real disease? We throw medication at people when family members die when instead we need to stop hiding death and instead deal with the loss. We throw antibiotics at people when they have viral infections. We give tylenol when a fever is not even 102. Why? Because pharmaceutical companies excessively advertise to get their money and we expect a McDonalds mentality fix. Am I a $cientologist? Nope, but while CO$ through CCHR does preach some outrageous stuff about evil psychs, it's not all wrong. We are an overly medicated society though there are those that absolutely require medications and need treatment.

Right, right, and more right. Couldn't agree more, Emma.

Every "religion" (or insert other tag) has some outlandish aspects. Same with political parties. This is why I refuse to be associated with organized groups. They all want to take away the power of free thinking.

The playhouse is adorable and hopefully not the only "normal" thing in Suri's life.

64. For those slamming Tom Cruise I ask this, Do you know where the term Bedlam comes? You might want to wiki it. It was an asylum for the mentally ill and the conditions were horrific. Psychiatry sounds all nice and rosey, but ask yourself how many mentally ill people are cured, not treated, cured by them? It's not like going to the dr. to cure strep with antibiotics. Then research to find out who pays for all those psychiatric training sessions. I was shocked to find out for myself. It seems they are in the pockets of drug companies to a larger extent then the typical physician. And no, I am not a $cientologist nor do I belong to any cult, including the mainstream Christian one.

66. I think it's cute that Suri has a little place of her own. I used to play in the partition to my mothers living room and dining room, there was room enough for 1 person and I'd go in there to hide and play when I wanted some alone time. It was perfect. I'm sure that by the looks of it Suri has a lot of fun under there. Everyone should be so lucky!

67. ..I enjoyed his interview with Oprah....what a great little shack he has!!

Posted at 5:03PM on May 2nd 2008 by oh ohh..

68. a friend of mine stayed in a older house that had stairs going to the second storey, and under the stairs they had a nice little room for mini kitchen and some of a kids area, it was neat. now this little suri has it even way better, its huge compare to us when were kids lol, can't see what is so wrong here!? i think the media is trying so damn hard to mash up Tom's image. That is luxury kids area, i don't care about his scientology, he has been for far longer time than when all this started in the media, and no one was judging him then. Ppl might not forget what he did to brook shields, etc, but she and ppl have forgave..

69. He gave out free boxed sets of his movies on Oprah..... thats the only way he'll get rid of them b/c nobody wants to buy them any more.
If he walked on water, parted the seas, farted Yankee Doodle out of his ample butt I still wouldn't watch any of his flicks. He skeeves me out.
Hear that flushing, that was Toms movie career going down the toilet and Goddess Oprah might have over two million followers to her new religion but even she can't save Tom.

70. watch the couch incident again - Tom appeared to be in a classic "manic" state - or maybe he was nervous, and with the audience cheering, just got carried away - every actor turns into a 2 year old looking for attention when they have a live audience applauding.

The kiddie house is fine, my kids would love it, and if you didn't notice , it had a half door, so no one could get locked in!

71. just leave him alone, I believe everybody has flaw ours are not out there for the world to see.....

72. I HOPE THE STAIRCASE DOESN'T COLLAPSE WHILE SURI IS HAVING A TEA PARTY FOR HERSELF.

73. That only would be cute if Suri discovered the place on her own and made a little make shift room. My daughter used to find a closet or a corner and build a little fort for her self, but Suris area was PLANNED so with this in mind why couldnt the place be a little more girly friendly, wiht windows, and maybe a little more space for say - FRIENDS or Mom and Dad to join her in play, and maybe a window overlooking the beautiful area!

74. Brooke...I don't believe u could get a view from under the stairs!!!!!!!! hahaha..geesh

Posted at 5:40PM on May 2nd 2008 by hahahaha

75. It's just a small "fort like" playhouse. We LOVED those as kids! What am I missing? Is Suri not allowed a simple playroom because they're rich? Does it have to be a 4000SF playroom or nothing?

Posted at 5:43PM on May 2nd 2008 by Is this a joke? If so, no one is laughing.
