Disney Tram Crashes After Goofy Turn

It really wasn't a magic day at the Magic Kingdom yesterday: First, there was the suicide that TMZ reported, and -- on a completely different note -- a parking lot tram car slammed into a sign, shutting down tram service for a little while.

We've confirmed that an accident did occur, but being fairly low-speed, injuries to people were minor, though the car's lights were torn out. According to one poster on Disney nerd emporium Micechat.com, the tram may have taken an overly wide turn.

We called the Mouse House for comment, but haven't heard back. Anaheim PD says they weren't called to the scene.

16. Hey, Andy - considering what's been happening the last few weeks, I think I'd rather be called a moron than a Mormon! I needed the chuckle.

19. Quote from Wikipedia:
(Referring to Disney World) "Because of the similarity to Disneyland, there was some confusion on the name of the park. "The Magic Kingdom" was used as an unofficial nickname for Disneyland before the Walt Disney World Resort was built, however the official nickname of Disneyland is "The Happiest Place On Earth." The Magic Kingdom's nickname is the similar "The Most Magical Place On Earth." Despite the confusion, the park's tickets have always borne the official name of "The Magic Kingdom."[3] In 1994, in order to differentiate it from Disneyland, the park was officially renamed to "Magic Kingdom Park."

There really is no excuse for ignorance.

25. I was in line for the tram at dland when this happened. It was stupid the back part of the tram hit a sign up abovebecause the driver tried to drive around another tram for whatever reason who knows. All I saw were some wires sticking out after. No one was hurt at all. People were laughing and smiling that were nearby and remained seated. We all had to walk the tram's route to dland which was annoying took like ten minutes. Since I am a passholder was not bothered too much

26. No need to call anyone a moron. Magic Kingdom is the unofficial name for Disneyland. It is often referred to as Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom because it is the only Magic Kingdom park that Walt personally created and enjoyed. While Magic Kingdom is Disneyland's unofficial name, it is the official name for the park at Walt Disney World.

27. You are ALL wrong..Walt Disney World Resort is actually in LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL. .. I work there and it's annoying that Orlando tries to incorporate Disney into their stable of amusment parks.. Keep your Universal and Sea World in Orlando.

Magic Kingdom Park
PO Box 10000
Lake Buena Vista

28. OK, to clear this up, The Magic Kingdom is the original park Anaheim.
I know because this because I'm a cast member.
If you stand on the Main Street train station, it is announced that you will get a "Grand Circle Tour of Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom."

29. When I worked at Disney, I used to drive the tram. It's hilarious that someone crashed it. But really, accidents happen everywhere, and I think it is amazing this little piece of news made it into TMZ.

30. Before I get flamed, I just wanted to mention I do not think it is hilarious that there was potential for someone to get hurt, that's not a laughing matter etc etc. But just funny because the tram is not that hard to drive after the first week you learn.
