33. Yah, my mother has cancer too....I don't stalk every celebrity I can to pander for donations. And she's not even covered by insurance. Can't people go out to dinner without this kind of morbid crap being thrown in their faces?!?! I think the whack job in this scene is not Tom or even Katie....

34. sorry, this looks like a plant to me. she had the same pasty white look that all scientologists seem to have, as well as that intense glare when talking to people that is taught in scientology, plus with his tight security how could anyone get as close as she did, he never stops to talk to anyone. not buying it.

35. If it's a stunt they went to alot of trouble to stage a website for a sick little girl. It looks like a real mother with a real sick child to me. Perhaps the mother received some help to be in the right place at the right time to ask for help. I hope she gets the help she needs for her child. As for Katie posing like Princess Diana, this is the common posture of a tall woman with a shorter man. Just like Diana she is tring not to appear to loom over her husband. Being 6 ft tall my self I frequently see this same head down eyes up pose in pictures of myself. But Diana perfected it and it will always be hers.

36. i dont think he'd be dontating money, he'll prolly be sending her loads of free auditing, after all scientology "Cures cancer". many cancer patients have died after joining scientology as theyve been told that they no longer needed their medication, auditing would help get rid of the thetans that were causing it.

Honestly if my child had cancer and the medications and/or the appropriate (expensive) procedures were too much too handle, I'd probably find myself in her situation, away from the child JUST to ask someone, who hold afford it, for help. Her desperation is what we'd all do if one of our loved ones needed supplies we couldnt afford.

39. My gosh !Tom can do no right as far as the paparazi is concerned. There has never been any proof that he is a fake, his life is fake, his marriage is a sham and his daughter is not even an earthling. He jumped on a couch and gave Matt Lauer a hard time. Get over it.
Here is a guy who became a coporation before he was 20. That is he became a commodity to be sold. People forget he is a real human being. Yes, it probably is difficult for him to relate to the real world. How on earth can he be part of it? He tries to be honest and non-offensive in an interview with the big O. Sharing his home and glimpses of his life. Now people are saying that is fake! It has also been said he is too serious and when he smiles, that looks fake! First of all it must be tough to relax on camera when you can anticipate no matter what you do, you will be crucified. Why do people want to believe the worst ?
I like Tom and Katie, I love little Suri, she is beautiful. I hope when the cameras are off they are having a ball.

40. As someone with a family member battling cancer at this very minute, my heart goes out to this mother, if this is true. As a mother myself, I would jump barricades, risk getting shot, whatever, if I could find some way to save my child.

HOWEVER, Tom Cruise and his publicity machine know that he has ruined his career with his stunts over the past three years. No one will ever look at him the same way again, I don't care how many specials he does with Okra to try to rehab his image. I don't like her either, she has zero credibility with me, and he is a nut, pure and simple. The whole Scientology CRAP is nuts. I myself will never forget the sight of him saluting L. Ron Hubbard in the video leaked from the Scientology Church, or his insane, manic laughter. I don't think he's ALL bad, nobody is, but I do believe he would like the cult of Scientology to take over the world, and I believe they have people everywhere, attempting to do just that. NOTHING to do with Tom Cruise is not scripted, or sanctioned by the cult. The PR people are in overdrive, but I think it's too late.

42. What happened to Kindness and understanding ?? Everyone is making a judgement call with very little information. I work in the health care industry and see this kind of desperation all too often. I think Tom handled the serious situation with dignity and compassion. How many of you have left comments here that reflect those same values ??
Who are we to judge the Scientology church ?? How much do you truly know about it. John Travolta and his wife Kelly are Scientologts, and they seem to be a well adjusted, happy family.
I say.... give Tom and Katie a chance. And leave them and their private life alone. Actors are paid to ACT, NOT to allow invasion into their personal lives.

43. TMZhires13yearolds: My knowledge of scientology is not based on gossip. It is based on what they told me when I was a college student. According to them, if I didn't join the cult and follow L.Ron Hubbard's losing bar bet of a "religion" I would commit suicide within 5 years. Yes, they predicted the manner and time frame of my death. What a great thing to tell a vulnerable person. Instead of listening to them, I got help for my bipolar illness from a conventional psychotherapist and found a much better way to deal with my depression. A short time on anti-depressants helped me to realize that suicide is a stupid solution to life's problems since it actually solves nothing. If I had joined scientology, I would have been cut off from my family and remained depressed.

Scientology would be merely a foolish cult based on a silly bar bet if it didn't isolate its members, demand that they give almost all of their money to the church and force all its children to be educated in compounds and not see their non-scientology families. Scientology is as much a controlling cult as Jim Jones, Waco, and the one which was just raided in Texas. A religion allows its members to question the teachings and to leave if they lose their faith. A few religions teach that anyone who is not a member is doomed to an afterlife of pain and horror but that is rare. A cult forces people who join to remain upon pain of death in the here and now.

While this country allows freedom of religion, it does not allow oppression and scientology oppresses its members in every way imaginable except one. I have never heard that scientology forces its members to have sexual relation based on the dictates of the cult leaders. If this is considered a saving grace, sobeit, but a cult which tells potential members that they will die if they do not join is in no way a religion.

I do not like Tom Cruise as a person or an actor and never have but that is based on his personality and acting ability. I despise him for his proselytizing for a cult and his claims of expertise where he has absolutely no knowledge. He is making the same claims as an old-fashioned faith healer. Sometimes the mind will heal the body in mysterious ways and if a particular belief system works for you, that's fine. But thousands of people have died from believing in faith healing that did not work. When all forms of medical intervention have failed, and I include such things as acupuncture, faith is the only remaining recourse but it should be used as a last resource not the first.

Dawn, I agree that neuroblastoma is a horrendous disease. Any cancer or disease which affects mostly children must be seen that way. I fully agree with you that research is necessary if a cure is to be found and if Tom Cruise can help with this, I am all for it and I will have to grant that he has a measure of human kindness which his attacks on mental illness, from which I suffer, had made doubtful.

45. SO what if this was a plant or a publicity stunt??? The little girl is sick and after watching i went to her web site and donated; not because of Tom Cruise but because a child is sick w/ cancer...and yes i know there are many kids with cancer so i donate to St. Judes as well. If this is bringing awareness to one childs cause so be it. Im sure the Cruise's will donate as well..why dont all of you?1$ 5$ it will help. Good for you TMZ instead of contributing to the decline of decent society ...you may have actually done some good today. Harvey Levin where is your donation?
