First and foremost, I urge you to pay attention to the case and to the Sean Bell story – NOT Al Sharpton. Because it’s Al, you guys jump on the “he’s a racist” bandwagon. I don’t care about him and never did. I am more concerned about the story and the case. You are ignoring the case and its impact. You are spewing hateful, racist, ignorant words. Yes, it’s Al. Do you know any other “celebrity” who is participating in this case? Whatever his faults, he’s giving these people a chance to defend themselves. He is a well-known figure who is taking this case to the media. The cops made many errors the night Sean Bell was killed. Not just the repeated gunfire. Yes, they might have thought they had a gun but 50 shots?! It was after 3am and they were drunk… REMEMBER IT WAS A BACHELOR PARTY! According to reports, Sean did not drive into the undercover cop but he did hit their car. He was drunk and should not have been behind the wheel. Police should have stopped him for DUI. The survivors have claimed that the men did not say that they were police. I think that if the guys were doing anything illegal, the cops should have either shown their badges, called for back up, or fired warning shots. The justice system failed. I think that they should have been fined, sentenced or something. It was NOT a jury case. What Sean Bell’s family, the victims and Sharpton are doing is taking a stand to bring their case further. Remember, that this is not the first time police have fired multiple times to unarmed people. Don’t forget the African man who was gunned down a couple of years ago… he was carrying food/ a drink. It is not just blacks and latinos that are concerned and angry about what happened and what IS happening. Unfortunately, our history is full of injustice and racism. Don’t hate people who want to defend civil rights for ALL people. So, you want to take Al down. OK… do you have anyone else who you’d like to take his place? I’m sure Bush is waiting in line.

I don’t understand why TMZ did not report the whole story. Al wasn’t the only one arrested.

If he really wants to set forth change, which I agree that as a nation we do need to come together, why not accentuate anything positive in the African American community? I think the we all need to be informed when any person is wronged, regardless of race. Is this man not realizing that he is only making the "negative" even worse??? Did you fail your last history class? Um, revolutionary/ civil war ring a bell? What about protests during the Korean/ Vietnam/ Iraq war? Women’s suffrage? Women’s civil rights movement in the 60s/ 70s? The list goes on. PEOPLE protest when think the government/ system has failed them or when they want to bring an issue to the forefront. It’s part of American history.
